Understanding the computational operations involved in conceptual composition is fundamental for theories of language. However, the existing literature on this topic remains fragmented, comprising disconnected theories from various fields. For instance, while formal semantic theories in Linguistics rely on type-driven interpretation without explicitly representing the conceptual content of lexical items, neurolinguistic research suggests that the brain is sensitive to conceptual factors during word composition.

Autonomous decision-making is a hallmark of intelligent mobile robots and an essential element of autonomous navigation. The challenge is to enable mobile robots to complete autonomous navigation tasks in environments with mapless or low-precision maps, relying solely on low-precision sensors. To address this, we have proposed an innovative autonomous navigation algorithm called PEEMEF-DARC.

Background: This study aimed to analyse the drivers of the monkeypox (Mpox) epidemic and policy simulation to support health care policies against the Mpox epidemic.
Methods: We established a three-round selection mechanism for 164 factors using Lasso and negative binomial regression to investigate the correlation between significant drivers and the cumulative confirmed cases of Mpox. Policy simulation for each driver was evaluated, and the varying effects of implementation at different times were examined.

This paper studies the tactical decision-making model of short track speed skating based on deep reinforcement learning, so as to improve the competitive performance of corresponding short track speed skaters. Short track speed skating, a traditional discipline in the Winter Olympics since its establishment in 1988, has consistently garnered attention. As artificial intelligence continues to advance, the utilization of deep learning methods to enhance athletes' tactical decision-making capabilities has become increasingly prevalent.

Backgrounds: Predicting medications is a crucial task in intelligent healthcare systems, aiding doctors in making informed decisions based on electronic medical records (EMR). However, medication prediction faces challenges due to complex relations within heterogeneous medical data. Existing studies primarily focus on the supervised mining of hierarchical relations between homogeneous codes in medical ontology graphs, such as diagnosis codes.

Secure grasping of objects in complex scenes is the foundation of many tasks. It is important for robots to autonomously determine the optimal grasp based on visual information, which requires reasoning about the stacking relationship of objects and detecting the grasp position. This paper proposes a multi-task secure grasping detection model, which consists of the grasping relationship network (GrRN) and the oriented rectangles detection network CSL-YOLO, which uses circular smooth label (CSL).

Background: Accurate classification of benign and malignant pulmonary nodules using chest computed tomography (CT) images is important for early diagnosis and treatment of lung cancer. In terms of natural image classification, the ViT-based model has greater advantages in extracting global features than the traditional CNN model. However, due to the small image dataset and low image resolution, it is difficult to directly apply the ViT-based model to pulmonary nodule classification.

The clinical applications of transcatheter arterial embolization (TAE) conversion therapy combined with hepatectomy have been severely restricted by ill-defined tumoral boundaries and miniscule hidden lesions. Fluorescent surgical navigation is a promising method for overcoming these barriers. However, sufficient delivery of the fluorescent probe into the tumor region after long-term TAE is challenging due to blockade of the tumor-supplying artery.

This study describes the development of a long-range hybrid autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) for ocean turbulence measurement. It is a unique instrument, combining the characteristics of the conventional AUV and the buoyancy-driven glider, with a variety of flexible motion modes, such as cruise mode, glider mode, drift mode, and combination of multiple motion modes. The hybrid AUV was used for continuous turbulence measurement in the continental slope of the northern South China Sea in 2020.

Lipid accumulation and inflammation play a crucial role in the pathogenesis of atherosclerosis. Proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin type 9 (PCSK9) inhibitors are an emerging lipid-lowering agent reported as a potential anti-inflammation effect in the prevention of CVD.

Federated learning (FL) is a secure distributed machine learning paradigm that addresses the issue of data silos in building a joint model. Its unique distributed training mode and the advantages of security aggregation mechanism are very suitable for various practical applications with strict privacy requirements. However, with the deployment of FL mode into practical application, some bottlenecks appear in the FL training process, which affects the performance and efficiency of the FL model in practical applications.

Objectives: The aim of the study was to reconstruct the complete transmission chain of the COVID-19 outbreak in Beijing's Xinfadi Market using data from epidemiological investigations, which contributes to reflecting transmission dynamics and transmission risk factors.
Methods: We set up a transmission model, and the model parameters are estimated from the survey data via Markov chain Monte Carlo sampling. Bayesian data augmentation approaches are used to account for uncertainty in the source of infection, unobserved onset, and infection dates.

The use of a multi-functional autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) as a platform for making turbulence measurements in the ocean is developed. The layout optimization of the turbulence package and platform motion performance are limitation problems in turbulent AUV design. In this study, the computational fluid dynamics (CFD) method has been used to determine the optimized layout position and distance of the shear probe integrated into an AUV.

Electric shovels are widely used in the mining industry to dig ore, and the teeth in shovels' bucket can be lost due to the tremendous pressure exerted by ore materials during operation. When the teeth fall off and enter the crusher with other ore materials, serious damages to crusher gears and other equipment happen, which causes millions of economic loss, because it is made of high-manganese steel. Thus, it is urgent to develop an efficient and automatic algorithm for detecting broken teeth.

The goal of diagnosing the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) from suspected pneumonia cases, that is, recognizing COVID-19 from chest X-ray or computed tomography (CT) images, is to improve diagnostic accuracy, leading to faster intervention. The most important and challenging problem here is to design an effective and robust diagnosis model. To this end, there are three challenges to overcome: (1) The lack of training samples limits the success of existing deep-learning-based methods.

Supra-maximum surgical tumor resection without neurological damage is highly valuable for treatment and prognosis of patients with glioblastoma multiforme (GBM). We developed a GBM-specific fluorescence probe using IRDye800CW (peak absorption/emission, 778/795 nm) and bombesin (BBN), which (IRDye800-BBN) targets the gastrin-releasing peptide receptor, and evaluated the image-guided resection efficiency, sensitivity, specificity, and survivability. Twenty-nine patients with newly diagnosed GBM were enrolled.

Glioblastoma (GBM) is a common malignant brain tumor which often presents as a comorbidity with central nervous system (CNS) disorders. Both CNS disorders and GBM cells release glutamate and show an abnormality, but differ in cellular behavior. So, their etiology is not well understood, nor is it clear how CNS disorders influence GBM behavior or growth.

Also, a comprehensive evaluation of the neurobiological basis and generalizability of the end-to-end machine learning system should be given the highest priority. For this reason, a deep learning model (3D attention network, 3DAN) that can simultaneously capture candidate imaging biomarkers with an attention mechanism module and advance the diagnosis of AD based on structural magnetic resonance imaging is proposed.
