Protein lysine lactylation, a recently discovered post-translational modification (PTM), is prevalent across tissues and cells of diverse species, serving as a regulator of glycolytic flux and biological metabolism. The yak (), a species that has inhabited the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau for millennia, has evolved intricate adaptive mechanisms to cope with the region's unique geographical and climatic conditions, exhibiting remarkable energy utilization and metabolic efficiency. Nonetheless, the specific landscape of lysine lactylation in yaks remains poorly understood.

Genetic variations in the ovine ovulation rate, which are associated with the FecB mutation, provide useful models by which to explore the mechanisms regulating the development of mammalian antral follicles. In order to study the effects of the FecB mutation on cumulus cell differentiation, preovulatory follicles were aspirated and cumulus cells were isolated from three FecB genotypes (homozygous, heterozygous and wild type) of Small Tail Han (STH) sheep superstimulated with FSH. Transcriptome information from tens of thousands of cumulus cells was determined with the 10 × Genomics single-cell RNA-seq technology.

Prolonged exposure of bisphenol A (BPA) has adverse effects on in vitro maturation (IVM) of oocytes, but treatment with tauroursodeoxycholic acid (TUDCA) can improve the IVM and development of embryos. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of BPA and both BPA and TUDCA on IVM and parthenogenetic development of embryos. The results showed that BPA treatment adverse effects on the cumulus expansion index, survival rate, polar body rate, mitochondrial distribution of the oocytes after maturation culture, and that it also decreased the cleavage rate and blastocyst rate of embryos after parthenogenetic develpoment.

Phenotype plasticity and evolution adaptations are the two main ways in which allow populations to deal with environmental changes, but the potential relationship between them remains controversial. Using a reciprocal transplant approach with cattle adapted to the Tibetan Plateau and adjacent lowlands, we aim to investigate the relative contributions of evolutionary processes and phenotypic plasticity in driving both phenotypic and transcriptomic changes under natural conditions. We observed that while numerous genetic transcriptomic changes were evident during the forward adaptation to highland environments, plastic changes predominantly facilitate the transformation of transcriptomes into a preferred state when Tibetan cattle are reintroduced to lowland habitats.

This study aimed to develop an appropriate modified atmosphere packaging (MAP) system for displayed beef steaks following long-term superchilled (-1 °C) storage. After superchilled storage for 0, 2, 8, or 16 weeks, beef loins were fabricated into steaks and displayed with 20%, 50%, or 80% O-MAP under chilled conditions. At each storage point, after display for 0, 3, 7, or 10 days, instrumental color, myoglobin redox forms percentage, lipid oxidation, total viable count (TVC), and total volatile basic nitrogen (TVB-N) were evaluated.

Because number of matured muscle fibers in poultry does not increase after birth, the meat yield is mainly determined during embryogenesis. We previously indicated breast muscle grew rapidly from 18th day after hatching (E18) to E27, and almost stopped from E27 to E34 of Jiaji ducks, while the mechanism is unclear. This study utilized RNA-seq to explore the related genes of muscle development and their relationship with small molecule metabolites at E18, E27 and E34 of Jiaji ducks.

Interferon-induced transmembrane 3 (IFITM3) is a membrane-associated protein that exhibits antiviral activities against a wide range of viruses through interactions with other cellular and viral proteins. However, knowledge of the mechanisms of IFITM3 in Porcine deltacoronavirus (PDCoV) infection has been lacking. In this study, we demonstrate that IFN-α treatment induces the upregulation of IFITM3 activity and thus attenuates PDCoV infection.

Ding'an (DA) pig, a prominent local breed in Hainan Province, exhibits notable advantages in coarse feeding tolerance and high-quality meat. To explore the potential genetic mechanism of coarse feeding tolerance in DA pigs, 60-day-old full sibling pairs of DA and DLY (Duroc-Landrace-Yorkshire) pigs were subjected to fed normal (5%) and high (10%) crude fiber diets for 56 days, respectively. The findings showed that increasing the crude fiber level had no impact on the apparent digestibility of crude fiber, intramuscular fat, and marbling scores in DA pigs, whereas these factors were significantly reduced in DLY pigs ( < 0.

Phage therapy is gaining momentum as an alternative to antibiotics in the treatment of salmonellosis caused by Salmonella. In this study, a novel Salmonella phage, vB_SalS_JNS02, was isolated successfully from poultry farms in Shandong, China. The biological characteristics of vB_SalS_JNS02 were analysed, which revealed a short latent period of approximately 10 min and a burst size of 110 PFU/cell.

Many Gram-negative bacteria use type Ⅲ secretion system (T3SS) to inject effector proteins and subvert host signaling pathways, facilitating the growth, survival, and virulence. Notably, some bacteria harbor multiple distinct T3SSs with different functions. An extraordinary T3SS, the Type III Secretion System 2 (ETT2), is widespread among () strains.

Avian leukosis virus subgroup K (ALV-K) is composed of newly emerging isolates, which cluster separately from the well-characterized subgroups A, B, C, D, E, and J in sequence analysis, and exhibits a specific host range and a unique pattern of superinfection interference. Avian leukosis virus subgroup K replicate more slowly in avian cells than other ALV strains, leading to escaped detection during ALV eradication, but the underlying mechanism are largely unknown. In our previous study, we have reported that JS11C1 and most of other suspected ALV-K strains possessed unique mutations in the U3 region.

Introduction: Early detection of the virus in the environment or in infected pigs is a critical step to stop African swine fever virus (ASFV) transmission. The p22 protein encoded by ASFV gene has been shown to have no effect on viral replication and virulence and can serve as a molecular marker for distinguishing field virus strains from future candidate deletion vaccine strains.
Methods: This study established an ASFV detection assay specific for the highly conserved ASFV gene based on recombinase polymerase amplification (RPA) and the CRISPR/Cas12 reaction system.

Background: The pituitary directly regulates the reproductive process through follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinizing hormone (LH). Transcriptomic research on the pituitaries of ewes with different FecB (fecundity Booroola) genotypes has shown that some key genes and lncRNAs play an important role in pituitary function and sheep fecundity. Our previous study found that ewes with FecB + + genotypes (without FecB mutation) still had individuals with more than one offspring per birth.

Micropolymorphism significantly shapes the peptide-binding characteristics of major histocompatibility complex class I (MHC-I) molecules, affecting the host's resistance to pathogens, which is particularly pronounced in avian species displaying the "minimal essential MHC" expression pattern. In this study, we compared two duck MHC-I alleles, Anpl-UAA*77 and Anpl-UAA*78, that exhibit markedly different peptide binding properties despite their high sequence homology. Through mutagenesis experiments and crystallographic analysis of complexes with the influenza virus-derived peptide AEAIIVAMV (AEV9), we identified a critical role for the residue at position 62 in regulating hydrogen-bonding interactions between the peptide backbone and the peptide-binding groove.

In recent years, the pig industry in Xinjiang, China, has been severely impacted by outbreaks of porcine epidemic diarrhea (PED), despite vaccination efforts. In this study, we investigated the genetic characteristics of currently prevalent porcine epidemic diarrhea virus (PEDV) strains in the region.
