The bioactive components of microbial origin have been extensively applied to restrict the enormous enzyme-catalyzed processes. Hence, the present study was executed to explore the α -amylase inhibition (AAI) potential of glycoprotein isolated from (LGp) to regulate in vitro starch hydrolysis. As a non-competitive inhibitor, the protein exhibited AAI (85%) with, IC50 135 ± 0.

Effect of 5-HMF and furfural additives on bio-hydrogen production by photo-fermentation from giant reed.

Bioresour Technol

March 2022

Key Laboratory of New Materials and Facilities for Rural Renewable Energy (Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of China), Henan Agricultural University, Zhengzhou 450002, China. Electronic address:

Substances harmful to photo-fermentative biological hydrogen production (PFHP) were produced during cellulose hydrolysis. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of by-products (5-hydroxymethylfurfural (5-HMF) and furfural) released from lignocellulose during enzymatic hydrolysis process on PFHP. The exist of 5-HMF inhibited the hydrogen production.

Behavioral and molecular response of the insect parasitic nematode Steinernema carpocapsae to cues emitted by a host, the red palm weevil, Rhynchophorus ferrugineus.

Mol Biochem Parasitol

January 2021

Department of Entomology and Nematology, Institute of Plant Protection, Agricultural Research Organization (ARO), The Volcani Center, Rishon Le Zion, Israel. Electronic address:

As the larvae of the date palm pest, the red palm weevil, Rhynchophorus ferrugineus, feeds on the host tissue, they emit a distinctive sound which can be recorded outside of the infected tree. We evaluated the response of infective juveniles (IJs) of the entomopathogenic nematodes Steinernema carpocapsae to the R. ferrugineus larvae and it's sound source, separately.

Under-skin browning (USB) is an unsightly physiological disorder that afflicts 'Honey Gold' mango fruit. Under-skin browning symptoms develop after harvest upon the interaction of physical abrasion and physiological chilling stresses. Less understood preharvest and/or harvest factors may also influence fruit susceptibility to USB.

To maintain the continuous working performance of a vacuum plate seeder, it is important to monitor the total seed mass in the seed tray in real time and accurately control the pickup position of the suction plate accordingly. Under the excitation of reciprocating vibration varying with time and interference by direction angle, the motion of seeds in a rectangular tray was simulated using the discrete element method (DEM). A measurement method for seed mass in a small area was proposed based on the impulse theorem.

Broccoli sprouts may exert a negative influence on thyroid function as they are a rich source of glucosinolates, in particular glucoraphanin. Under the study in a long-term experiment broccoli sprouts were tested as an element of rats diet, combined with deficient iodine, or sulfadimethoxine ingestion - two models of hypothyroidism. Evaluations were performed for serum TSH and thyroid hormones completed with analyzes of selected haematological, biochemical and immunological (IL-6, IL-10) parameters, as well as cytosolic glutathione peroxidase (GPX1), thioredoxin reductase (TR) in the thyroid, and plasma glutathione peroxidase (GPX3).

Response surface methodology (RSM) is a mathematical and statistical technique for testing multiple process variables and their interactive, linear and quadratic effects, and useful in solving multivariable equations obtained from experiments simultaneously. In present study optimum meat level and processing conditions for development of shelf stable chicken meat noodles was determined using central composite design of response surface methodology (RSM). Effects of meat level (110-130 g); processing conditions such as steaming time (12-18 min) and drying time (7-9 h) on the water activity, yield, water absorption index, water solubility index, hardness, overall acceptability and total colour change of chicken noodles were investigated.

Isolation and characterization of a novel cinosulfuron degrading Kurthia sp. from a methanogenic microbial consortium.

Bioresour Technol

November 2013

State Key Laboratory of Agricultural Microbiology, College of Life Science and Technology, Huazhong Agricultural University, Wuhan 430070, China. Electronic address:

A novel bacterial strain LAM0713 was isolated from a methanogenic bacterial complexes and identified as Kurthia sp. based on morphological, cultural, physio-biochemical characteristics and analysis of 16S rDNA sequence. Strain LAM0713 was found to be capable of utilizing cinosulfuron as sole nitrogen source for growth over a wide range of temperature (20-40 °C) and pH (5.
