This study investigated the expression profiles of microRNA-like RNAs (milRNAs) in (), a key pathogen causing Apple replant disease (ARD), across spore to mycelium formation stages. Using small RNA sequencing (sRNA-seq) and bioinformatics, we identified and analyzed milRNAs, revealing their targeting of 2364 mRNAs involved in 20 functional categories, including metabolic and cellular processes, based on gene ontology (GO) analysis. An analysis of Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) showed that these mRNAs are related to carbohydrate and amino acid metabolism pathways.

Winter wheat, as one of the world's key staple crops, plays a crucial role in ensuring food security and shaping international food trade policies. However, there has been a relative scarcity of high-resolution, long time-series winter wheat maps over the past few decades. This study utilized Landsat and Sentinel-2 data to produce maps depicting winter wheat distribution in Google Earth Engine (GEE).

Apple replant disease (ARD), caused by pathogens, is a formidable threat to the renewal of apple varieties in China, necessitating the development of effective and sustainable control strategies. In this study, the bacterial strain BA-4 was isolated from the rhizosphere soil of healthy apple trees in a replanted orchard, demonstrating a broad-spectrum antifungal activity against five crucial apple fungal pathogens. Based on its morphology, physiological and biochemical traits, utilization of carbon sources, and Gram stain, strain BA-4 was tentatively identified as .

Under the context of global climate change and growing population, irrigation and fertilization have become important ways to ensure food production, with consequences on water cycling, energy flow, and materials cycling in terrestrial ecosystems. In the land surface model (LSM), coupling irrigation and fertilization schemes are of great importance for clearly understanding the land-atmosphere interactions to ensure food security. We reviewed the expression methods of three key parameters, namely, the applied method, usage, and time in the parameterization process of irrigation and fertilization (nitrogen fertilizer) in LSM.

Land surface models (LSMs) have prominent advantages for exploring the best agricultural practices in terms of both economic and environmental benefits with regard to different climate scenarios. However, their applications to optimizing fertilization and irrigation have not been well discussed because of their relatively underdeveloped crop modules. We used a CLM5-Crop LSM to optimize fertilization and irrigation schedules that follow actual agricultural practices for the cultivation of maize and wheat, as well as to explore the most economic and environmental-friendly inputs of nitrogen fertilizer and irrigation (FI), in the North China Plain (NCP), which is a typical intensive farming area.

Potassium (K ) is the most abundant inorganic cation in plant cells, playing a critical role in various plant functions. However, the impacts of K on natural terrestrial ecosystems have been less studied compared with nitrogen (N) and phosphorus (P). Here, we present a global meta-analysis aimed at quantifying the response of aboveground production to K addition.

Sewage irrigation is a common alternative to make up for the shortage of agricultural irrigation in intensive agricultural areas. Abundant organic matter and nutrients in sewage can improve soil fertility and crop yield, but hazardous materials, such as heavy metals, will damage the soil environmental quality and threaten human health. To better understand the characteristics of heavy metal enrichment and potential health risk in a sewage irrigated soil-wheat system, a total of sixty-three pairs of topsoil and wheat grain samples were collected from the sewage irrigated area of Longkou City in Shandong Province.

With increasing water resources stress under climate change, it is of great importance to deeply understand the spatio-temporal variation of crop water requirements and their response to climate change for achieving better water resources management and grain production. However, the quantitative evaluation of climate change impacts on crop water requirements and the identification of determining factors should be further explored to reveal the influencing mechanism and actual effects thoroughly. In this study, the water requirements of winter wheat and summer maize from 1981 to 2019 in the lower reaches of the Yellow River Basin were estimated based on the Penman-Monteith model and crop coefficient method using daily meteorological data.

The new development mode represented by the digital economy has provided new ideas for sustainable rural development. To comprehensively understand the status of digital rural development and propose scientific measures of rural revitalization in the Yellow River Basin (YRB), this study used counties as the research unit and data from 2020 to analyze the spatial differentiation characteristics and influencing factors by employing the Theil index, spatial autocorrelation analysis, and a geodetector model. The results showed that the digital rural development index in the YRB is slightly higher than it is in China overall, but the sub-index for the digital economy is lagging.

Moderate grazing has been widely proven to improve ecosystem functioning and have profound effects on the carbon cycling and storage in grassland ecosystems, which highly depend on grazing duration and grassland type. However, the effects of moderate grazing durations on carbon sequestration with different grassland types over broad geographic scales across China remain underexplored in the context of striving for carbon neutrality. Here, we explored the probably different responses of carbon sequestration to moderate grazing duration for temperate and alpine grasslands based on 129 published literatures regarding the China's grasslands.

The basidiomycetous fungus Kühn (teleomorph [Frank] Donk) is a fungal pathogen that causes various diseases on economically important crops, such as foxtail millet, maize, and rice. Using the PacBio Sequel platform, we assembled a draft genome of an strain AG4-JY that was isolated from foxtail millet with sheath blight at the stem. The genome was approximately 43.

Fruit tree diseases are one of the major agricultural disasters in China. With the popularity of smartphones, there is a trend to use mobile devices to identify agricultural pests and diseases. In order to identify leaf diseases of apples more easily and efficiently, this paper proposes a cascade backbone network-based (CBNet) disease identification method to detect leaf diseases of apple trees in the field.

Atmospheric pollution control policies have achieved remarkable progress in China since 2013, and the smog protective equipment market has experienced a great boom during the same period. From the perspectives of the health production efficiency hypothesis and the time discount rate hypothesis, this study investigates the relationship between household expenditures on air pollution avoidance and health care, and individuals' self-assessed health based on network survey data from 17 cities in China. Using the treatment effect model to control the potential endogenous selection problems, we explain the paradox of the growing smog avoidance investment coexisting with improving air quality.

A field experiment was conducted for two seasons to evaluate the application effects of a decision support system named Nutrient Expert on radish based on yield response and agronomic efficiency, to provide theoretical and technical support for convenient and quick recommendation on fertilization management. There were seven treatments: farmer's practice treatment (FP), recommended fertilization treatment based on Nutrient Expert (TE), recommended fertilization treatment based on soil testing (TS), treatment of replacing 30% nitrogen fertilizer with organic fertilizer based on TE (TE+OM), and corresponding nitrogen omission treatment (TE-N), phosphorus omission treatment (TE-P), and potassium omission treatment (TE-K). We measured and compared the effects of different fertilization managements on radish yield, nutrient uptake, fertilizer utilization and fertilization benefit.

This study selects landscape pattern indices to describe the structural characteristics of ELRS at the county level in the Central Plains region (CP), China. Fragmentation of ELRS in the North China Plain (NCP) is higher than that in the marginal mountainous and hilly areas of the CP, and ELRS dominance is higher in the south than in the north.
