Background: Depression is widespread global problem that not only severely impacts individuals' physical and mental health but also imposes a heavy disease burden on nations and societies. The role of inflammation in the pathogenesis and pathophysiology of depression has received much attention, but the precise relationship between the two remains unclear. This study aims to investigate the correlation between depression and inflammation using a network medicine approach.

Altered functional connectivity of the thalamus in patients with insomnia disorder after transcutaneous auricular vagus nerve stimulation therapy.

The pathogenesis of insomnia is related to the dysfunction of the thalamus. Transcutaneous auricular vagus nerve stimulation (taVNS) has proved to be effective in treating insomnia. However, whether taVNS alleviates insomnia through modulating thalamus-related functional connectivity remains unclear.

[Gene clone and functional identification of sterol glycosyltransferases from Paris polyphylla var. yunnanensis].

In this study, the authors cloned a glycosyltransferase gene PpUGT2 from Paris polyphylla var. yunnanensis with the ORF length of 1 773 bp and encoding 590 amino acids. The phylogenetic tree revealed that PpUGT2 belonged to the UGT80A subfamily and was named as UGT80A49 by the UDP-glycosyltransferase(UGT) Nomenclature Committee.

Efficacy of electroacupuncture stimulating Shenmen (HT7), Baihui (GV20), Sanyinjiao (SP6) on spatial learning and memory deficits in rats with insomnia induced by para-chlorophenylalanine: a single acupoint combined acupoints.

Methods: Primary insomnia was modeled by intraperitoneal injection of para-chlorophenylalanine (PCPA) once daily for 2 d. EA was applied at Shenmen (HT7), Baihui (GV20), Sanyinjiao (SP6), or Shenmen (HT7) + Baihui (GV20) + Sanyinjiao (SP6) (combined) for 30 min daily for 4 d.

[Fidelity in acupuncture-moxibustion clinical research: application and reflection].

As an indicator that measures the degree of implementation of intervention measures during the implementation process, fidelity could be used for monitoring and quality evaluation of the completion degree of intervention measures, and plays an important role in improving the degree of intervention implementation and clarifying the factors that affect intervention implementation. This article aims to introduce the connotation and significance, measurement, control, and current application status of fidelity, as well as the current application status of fidelity in acupuncture-moxibustion clinical research and its inspiration for future research. Methods: A total of 79 papers were included, which pertained to 22 countries and 64 journals.

Maternal separation (MS) is a type of early-life stress that has been linked to neuropsychiatric disorders, especially depression. Increasing evidence indicates that the adenosine triphosphate (ATP) level in the prefrontal cortex (PFC) is involved in the pathophysiology of depression. To investigate the potential relationship between ATP in PFC and antidepressant effects of electroacupuncture (EA) treatment, we assessed genes involved in ATP biosynthesis as well as the extracellular ATP levels in a rat model exposed to neonatal MS.

Objective: To observe the anti-aging effects of moxibustion on age-related alterations in middle-aged mice.

Methods: Thirty, 9-month-old, male ICR mice were randomly divided into the moxibustion and control groups (N = 15). Mice in the moxibustion group were given mild moxibustion at the Guanyuan acupoint for 20 minutes every other day.

Studies have demonstrated that a functional network of meningeal lymphatic vessels exists in the brain.
