Article Synopsis
  • Pentacene, a widely studied organic semiconductor, has its exciton motion influenced by inter-molecular exciton coupling through charge-transfer processes.
  • The study investigates how adding tetracene, which has a larger band gap, affects exciton behavior in pentacene by disrupting pentacene-pentacene interactions.
  • Results reveal that increasing tetracene concentration leads to a significant decrease in both Davydov splitting and exciton band width in pentacene, with the exciton band width reduction being notably larger.

The first search for scalar leptoquarks produced in τ-lepton-quark collisions is presented. It is based on a set of proton-proton collision data recorded with the CMS detector at the LHC at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 138  fb^{-1}. The reconstructed final state consists of a jet, significant missing transverse momentum, and a τ lepton reconstructed through its hadronic or leptonic decays.

Article Synopsis
  • - The study investigates the strange quark content of protons by measuring the production cross section of W bosons and charm quarks in proton-proton collisions at 13 TeV, using data from the CMS detector at the LHC.
  • - W bosons are identified through their decays into leptons (electrons or muons) and neutrinos, while charm quarks are tagged by detecting muons or secondary vertices in jets.
  • - The measurements, which reach a precision of 1%, include both inclusive and differential analyses based on the transverse momentum and pseudorapidity of the leptons, and the results are compared with advanced theoretical predictions in quantum chromodynamics.

The measurement of Z boson production is presented as a method to determine the integrated luminosity of CMS data sets. The analysis uses proton-proton collision data, recorded by the CMS experiment at the CERN LHC in 2017 at a center-of-mass energy of 13. Events with Z bosons decaying into a pair of muons are selected.

An efficient protocol for the synthesis of novel methotrexate-betulonic acid hybrids with a (tert-butoxycarbonylamino)-3,6-dioxa-8-octanamine (Boc-DOOA) linkage has been developed. Reaction of N-(2-(2-(2-aminoethoxy)ethoxy)ethyl)-betulonamide with methotrexate resulted in a mixture of isomeric conjugates which were separated by column chromatography. Their structures and composition have been fully established by H NMR, C spectra, FAB mass spectrometry and elemental analysis.

Article Synopsis
  • - The study investigates how the ratio of production fractions of B_{s}^{0} and B^{+} hadrons (f_{s}/f_{u}) varies with the transverse momentum (p_{T}) and rapidity of B mesons using data from proton-proton collisions at 13 TeV collected by the CMS experiment in 2018.
  • - It finds that the f_{s}/f_{u} ratio depends on transverse momentum but becomes roughly constant at high p_{T}, while there is no observed dependence on rapidity.
  • - Additionally, the production ratio of B^{0} to B^{+} mesons (f_{d}/f_{u}) is measured for the first time in

Stimuli-responsive and tunable soft-matter systems are an advanced class of materials applicable for drug delivery. Liquid crystals (LCs) are promising candidates as multifunctional materials that can respond to temperature, light or magnetic field. Particularly, ordering and physical properties of thermoresponsive LCs depend predominantly on temperature as external trigger.

The structure of nucleons is multidimensional and depends on the transverse momenta, spatial geometry, and polarization of the constituent partons. Such a structure can be studied using high-energy photons produced in ultraperipheral heavy-ion collisions. The first measurement of the azimuthal angular correlations of exclusively produced events with two jets in photon-lead interactions at large momentum transfer is presented, a process that is considered to be sensitive to the underlying nuclear gluon polarization.
