To reduce contamination levels in Cd-contaminated paddy soil while retaining soil characteristics, we have studied the Cd-removing ability of 15 different amino acid-based ionic liquids, which are considered to be green solvents, as soil washing agents and their impact on soil. The results indicated that the glycine hydrochloride ([Gly][Cl]) removed the most Cd, and under optimized conditions could remove 82.2% of the total Cd.

This study concerns the analysis of the modulation of Chronic Myeloid Leukemia (CML) cell model K562 transcriptome following transfection with the tumor suppressor gene encoding for Protein Tyrosine Phosphatase Receptor Type G (PTPRG) and treatment with the tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI) Imatinib. Specifically, we aimed at identifying genes whose level of expression is altered by PTPRG modulation and Imatinib concentration. Statistical tests as differential expression analysis (DEA) supported by gene set enrichment analysis (GSEA) and modern methods of ontological term analysis are presented along with some results of current interest for forthcoming experimental research in the field of the transcriptomic landscape of CML.

Current evidence, almost entirely from cross-sectional observations, supports negative associations between leukocyte telomere length (LTL) and adverse lifestyle factors and cardiometabolic risk factors. Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), the most common gynecological endocrine disorder, is associated with inflammation and oxidative stress, both factors associated with accelerated telomere attrition.

Bibliometrics, the exploitation of large-scale publication data, is a facile approach to explore gender-related trends, especially gender equality in academic publishing and authorship. For the first time, this study aims to investigate the gender-related trends in anti-doping sciences to (1) explore the relational structure of gender aspects of authorial, topical, and methodological features, (2) give recognition to women's contribution to anti-doping research, and (3) identify unique "gendered" potentials for advancing anti-doping research. The integrated application of nanoparticles and phytohormones was explored in this study as a potentially eco-friendly remediation strategy to mitigate heavy metal toxicity in a bamboo species () by utilizing titanium oxide nanoparticles (TiO-NPs) and 24-epibrassinolide (EBL). Hence, an in vitro experiment was performed to evaluate the role of 100 µM TiO NPs and 10 M 24-epibrassinolide individually and in combination under 100 µM Cu and Cd in a completely randomized design using four replicates. Whereas 100 µM of Cu and Cd reduced antioxidant activity, photosynthetic capacity, plant tolerance, and ultimately plant growth, the co-application of 100 µM TiO NPs and 10 M EBL+ heavy metals (Cu and Cd) resulted in a significant increase in plant antioxidant activity (85%), nonenzymatic antioxidant activities (47%), photosynthetic pigments (43%), fluorescence parameters (68%), plant growth (39%), and plant tolerance (41%) and a significant reduction in the contents of malondialdehyde (45%), hydrogen peroxide (36%), superoxide radical (62%), and soluble protein (28%), as well as the percentage of electrolyte leakage (49%), relative to the control.

The utilization of nanoparticles to potentially reduce toxicity from metals/metalloids in plants has increased in recent years, which can help them to achieve tolerance under the stressful conditions. An experiment was conducted to investigate five different levels of zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnO-NPs; 0, 50, 100, 150, and 200 μM) both alone and in combination with 150 μM arsenic (As) and 150 μM mercury (Hg) in one-year-old plants through four replications. The results demonstrated that As and Hg alone had damaging effects on the plant growth and development.
