Our study used functional magnetic resonance imaging and fractal functional connectivity (FC) methods to analyze the brain networks of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and typically developing participants using data available on ABIDE databases. Blood-Oxygen-Level-Dependent time series were extracted from 236 regions of interest of cortical, subcortical, and cerebellar regions using Gordon's, Harvard Oxford, and Diedrichsen atlases respectively. We computed the fractal FC matrices which resulted in 27,730 features, ranked using XGBoost feature ranking.

Autologous blood transfusion is known to have advantages over allogeneic transfusion. The COVID-19 pandemic intensified the already existing shortage of allogeneic blood supply. We carried out a study during this period with the aim to elicit the effects of autologous blood collection and transfusion, to compare the peri-operative outcomes of autologous and allogeneic transfusion practices and also to assess the influence of the autologous transfusion programme in the Blood Centre inventory.

Purpose: Very few reports elaborate on the changes in P wave following superior septal approach to the mitral valve. We aimed to describe the changes in the P wave axis and other electrocardiographic changes following this approach among patients preoperatively in sinus rhythm.
Methods: We did a retrospective review of medical records among all our patients undergoing superior septal approach for mitral valve surgery from September 2014 to September 2019.

Renal fibrosis is a common pathological feature of chronic kidney disease (CKD) with various etiologies, which seriously affects the structure and function of the kidney. Pregnane X receptor (PXR) is a member of the nuclear receptor superfamily and plays a critical role in regulating the genes related to xenobiotic and endobiotic metabolism in mammals. Previous studies show that PXR is expressed in the kidney and has protective effect against acute kidney injury (AKI).

Objectives: Congenital heart disease (CHD) is now a leading contributor of infant and neonatal mortality in many low/middle-income countries including India. We established a prospective neonatal heart disease registry in Kerala to understand presentation of CHD, proportion of newborns with critical defects who receive timely intervention, outcomes at 1 month, predictors of mortality and barriers to timely management.
Methods: The congenital heart disease registry for newborns (≤28 days) in Kerala (CHRONIK) was a prospective hospital-based registry involving 47 hospitals from 1 June 2018 to 31 May 2019.

In traumatic brain injury (TBI) patients, a complex cascade of inflammatory responses are frequently observed following trauma. Numerous dietary agents have long been found to have potential in modulating inflammatory responses. This pilot study, designed an enteral formula with low inflammatory properties based on the dietary inflammatory index (DII®) and evaluated its effect on inflammatory and metabolic factors in critically ill TBI patients.

Background And Aim: Nursing reports are necessary for clinical communication and provide an accurate reflection of nursing assessments, care provided, changes in clinical status, and patient-related information to support the multidisciplinary team to provide individualized care. Nurses always face challenges in recording and documenting nursing reports. Speech recognition systems (SRS), as one of the documentation technologies, can play a potential role in recording medical reports.

Diabetes kidney disease (DKD) is one of the common chronic microvascular complications of diabetes, which has become the most important cause of modern chronic kidney disease beyond chronic glomerulonephritis. The endoplasmic reticulum is one of the largest organelles, and endoplasmic reticulum stress (ERS) is the basic mechanism of metabolic disorder in all organs and tissues. Under the stimulation of stress-induced factors, the endoplasmic reticulum, as a trophic receptor, regulates adaptive and apoptotic ERS through molecular chaperones and three unfolded protein reaction (UPR) pathways, thereby regulating diabetic renal damage.

Antiplatelet and/or anticoagulant agents (collectively known as antithrombotic agents) are used to reduce the risk of thromboembolic events in patients with conditions such as atrial fibrillation, acute coronary syndrome, recurrent stroke prevention, deep vein thrombosis, hypercoagulable states and endoprostheses. Antithrombotic-associated gastrointestinal (GI) bleeding is an increasing burden due to the growing population of advanced age with multiple comorbidities and the expanding indications for the use of antiplatelet agents and anticoagulants. GI bleeding in antithrombotic users is associated with an increase in short-term and long-term mortality.

Prostate cancer is the second prevalent cancer in men. While the anti-cancer effect of Hesperidin and (Aprepitant) AP on prostate cancer cells is well documented, their combined effect and their mechanism of action are not fully investigated. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the anti-cancer effects of Hesperidin and AP alone and in combination on prostate cancer cells.
