Shell nacre from species has been extensively researched for managing bone defects. However, there is a gap in the research regarding using shell nacre powder as a cement with improved biological and physicochemical properties. To address this, bone void filling cement was formulated by incorporating shell nacre powder and an organically modified ceramic resin (ormocer).

Radiotherapy is an important cancer treatment strategy that causes DNA damage in tumor cells either directly or indirectly. Autophagy is a physiological process linked to DNA damage. Mitophagy is a form of autophagy, which specifically targets and eliminates impaired mitochondria, thereby upholding cellular homeostasis.

Introduction: Atypical teratoid/rhabdoid tumours (AT/RT) are malignant CNS tumours predominantly seen in infants and children. Adult AT/RTs have a predilection for mid-line structures, such as the pineal and pituitary glands. We report a case of AT/RT in a young adult, with its origin from the third ventricle.

Context: Saikosaponin D (SSD) is a commonly prescribed agent against inflammatory diseases in Asian countries. However, the anti-allergic inflammatory effect of SSD in allergic rhinitis (AR) model is not well known.
Objective: We investigated the anti-allergic and anti-inflammatory effects of SSD on the ovalbumin (OVA)-induced AR model.

Hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy (HOCM), although a worldwide prevalent cardiac disease, it imposes a greater task in the patient management. The association of coronary artery disease with HOCM poses an immense perioperative challenge and it demands an expert transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) examination for guiding the surgery and detailed assessment after surgical correction. We report a case of HOCM with coronary artery disease where the post-cardiopulmonary bypass three-dimensional TEE played a crucial role in exact identification of the mechanism of fixed left ventricular outflow tract obstruction, when the two-dimensional TEE failed to provide adequate information.

Objectives: Oxidative stress is one of the carcinogenic mechanisms underlying the development of glioblastoma multiforme (GBM), a highly aggressive brain tumor type associated with poor prognosis. Curcumin is known to be an efficient antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and anticancer compound. However, its poor solubility in water, inappropriate pharmacokinetics, and low bioavailability limit its use as an antitumor drug.

Even though it is a common occurrence in practice, maintaining haemostasis can sometimes become a challenging issue in case of trauma, perioperative period, coagulation disorders, cancers, etc. Hemostatic materials are extensively used to assist in the cessation of bleeding. However, the definition of efficiency of haemostasis varies between intended procedures.

Residential segregation of settlements on caste lines is common across Indian villages. Banjara settlements or tandas are an extreme form of residential segregation, rooted in colonial history and India's complex caste system, and an outcome of structural discrimination. This analysis examines the structural discrimination of tandas in the distribution of various infrastructure and compares it with the villages in proximity to it.

Several natural compounds reduce tumour cell growth and metastasis by inducing programmed cell death. Cassava (Manihot esculenta Crantz) contains cyanogenic glycosides such as, linamarin and lotaustralin, can be enzymatically cleaved by linamarase to release hydrogen cyanide (HCN), which can have therapeutic benefits against hypertension, asthma, and cancer. We have developed a technology for isolating bio-active principles from cassava leaves.

We present a deep network-based model of the associative memory functions of the hippocampus. The proposed network architecture has two key modules: (1) an autoencoder module which represents the forward and backward projections of the cortico-hippocampal projections and (2) a module that computes familiarity of the stimulus and implements hill-climbing over the familiarity which represents the dynamics of the loops within the hippocampus. The proposed network is used in two simulation studies.

Anterior midline skull base meningiomas involving olfactory groove, planum sphenoidale, and tuberculum sellae were usually managed with bifrontal craniotomy until the dawn of advanced microsurgical techniques. With the emergence of microsurgical techniques, midline meningiomas could be tackled solely from a unilateral pterional approach. We present our experience with pterional approach in managing anterior skull base midline meningiomas, including the technical nuances and outcomes.

In this study, we classify the seizure types using feature extraction and machine learning algorithms. Initially, we pre-processed the electroencephalogram (EEG) of focal non-specific seizure (FNSZ), generalized seizure (GNSZ), tonic-clonic seizure (TCSZ), complex partial seizure (CPSZ) and absence seizure (ABSZ). Further, 21 features from time (9) and frequency (12) domain were computed from the EEG signals of different seizure types.
