Background: Dietary acid load seems to be associated with psychological disorders through several mechanisms, and may barricade their treatment and recovery. The aim of current study was to evaluate the relationship between dietary acid load, using potential renal acid load (PRAL) and dietary acid load (DAL) scores, with the severity of depression and anxiety among Iranian adults.
Methods: A total of 6531 participants aged 35-65 years were recruited in this cross-sectional study.

Background: Probiotic fermentation is a promising strategy for improving the nutritional and functional properties of traditional Chinese medicines (TCMs). Ganoderma lucidum and Raphani Semen are famous TCMs that have been shown to help alleviate immune system disorders. However, few studies have experimentally investigated the effects of probiotic-fermented G.

ZIF-8 (zeolitic imidazolate framework-8) is a potential drug delivery system because of its unique properties, which include a large surface area, a large pore capacity, a large loading capacity, and outstanding stability under physiological conditions. ZIF-8 nanoparticles may be readily functionalized with targeting ligands for the identification and absorption of particular cancer cells, enhancing the efficacy of chemotherapeutic medicines and reducing adverse effects. ZIF-8 is also pH-responsive, allowing medication release in the acidic milieu of cancer cells.

The quality of input DNA is crucial for obtaining significant inferences from molecular techniques like Sanger sequencing and Next Generation Sequencing experiments. Many of the extraction methods are suitable for retrieving quality DNA from fresh blood and tissue samples, regardless of the isolation principle. However, while isolating DNA from frozen blood samples, processed tissue samples or low-quality samples, careful selection of suitable extraction methods is extremely important.

Biosynthetic gene clusters (BGCs) are a subset of consecutive genes present within a variety of organisms to produce specialized metabolites (SMs). These SMs are becoming a cornerstone to produce multiple medications including antibacterial and anticancer agents. Natural products (NPs) also play a pivotal role in enhancing the virulence of ESKAPE pathogens (, , , , , and spp.

A 12-year-old boy presented with bicuspid aortic valve, severe aortic regurgitation, and dilated dysfunctional left ventricle in heart failure. He underwent aortic valve replacement with a 23 mm TTK Chitra heart valve prosthesis (tilting disk). He was gradually weaned off milrinone and noradrenaline in the intensive care.

Patients undergoing complex intracranial neurovascular procedures continue to have a high mortality rate. Individualised goal-directed cerebral resuscitation employing multimodality neuromonitoring may impact these patients' treatment and prognosis. Advanced monitoring methods aid in the early identification of secondary brain insults and serve as endpoints for goal-directed therapy in the perioperative period.

Objectives: During anesthesia, the response to these stimuli depends on the balance between nociception and antinociception. Recently, various monitoring systems based on the variables derived from electroencephalography, plethysmography, autonomic tone, reflex pathways, and composite algorithms have been introduced for monitoring nociception. The main aim of our study was to evaluate and correlate the physiological variables which reflect the autonomic nervous system response to nociception, such as heart rate (HR), systolic blood pressure (SBP), perfusion index (PI), and nociceptive response index (NRI), with the spectral entropy indices response entropy (RE) and RE-state entropy (SE), which reflects electromyographic (EMG) activation as a response to pain.

Background: Liver transplantation, the last treatment for advanced liver failure, necessitates patient education due to its wide range of complications and subsequent disabilities. The present study was development-applied research and aimed to design a mobile-based educational program to provide liver transplant patients with critical health information.
Methods: In the first phase of the study, the crucial educational components were collected from the literature and organized in the form of a questionnaire using library studies and available global guidelines.

Objective: We sought to analyze the evolution of hydrocephalus and enumerate its predictive factors in posterior fossa tumors in children and adults. We also validated the modified Canadian Preoperative Prediction Rule for Hydrocephalus (mCPPRH) and Frankfurt grading systems as tools to predict cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) diversion in children and adults, respectively.
Methods: A retrospective review of patients with posterior fossa tumors operated between 2012 and 2019 was performed.

The human immune system responds to harmful foreign invaders frequently encountered by the body and employs defense mechanisms to counteract such assaults. Various exogenous and endogenous factors play a prominent role in maintaining the balanced functioning of the immune system, which can result in immune suppression or immune stimulation. With the advent of different immune-modulatory agents, immune responses can be modulated or regulated to control infections and other health effects.

Background: The stromal vascular fraction (SVF) is an aqueous fraction isolated from the adipose tissue that constitutes different kinds of cells and extracellular matrix components. Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a linear polysaccharide in vertebrate tissues and is considered a potential tissue engineering scaffold due to its biocompatible nature. In this study, we have evaluated the cytotoxicity of xenofree HA in combination with an acellular component of adipose SVF (HA-aSVF) to propose it as a candidate biomaterial for future applications.
