Background: Tremor is one of the most troublesome manifestations of Parkinson's Disease (PD) and its response to dopaminergic medication is variable; an evidence-based framework of PD tremor is lacking yet needed to inform future investigations.
Objective: To perform a comprehensive longitudinal analysis on the clinical characteristics, course and response to dopaminergic medication of tremor in de-novo PD.
Methods: Three hundred ninety-seven participants were recruited in the Parkinson Progressive Markers Initiative, a prospective observational cohort study in early de-novo PD.
This case report describes two cases of unilateral limbal Vernal keratoconjunctivitis (VKC) in the same family. To our knowledge, these are the first two reported cases of unilateral limbal VKC. VKC is a chronic inflammatory disease that typically affects both eyes, with unilateral cases being rare and previously only reported in the tarsal form.

Somatic mosaicism appears as a recurrent phenomenon among patients suffering from Fanconi anemia (FA), but its direct prognostic significance mostly remains an open question. The clinical picture of FA mosaic subjects could indeed vary from just mild features to severe hematologic failure. Here, we illustrate the case of a proband whose FA familiarity, modest signs (absence of hematological anomalies and fertility issues), and chromosome fragility test transition to negative overtime were suggestive of somatic mosaicism.

Objectives: Aim of this study is to estimate interobserver agreement in classifying adnexal tumors using IOTA terms, simple rules and subjective assessment. In addition, we related observers' accuracy with their experience in gynecological ultrasonography and the year of IOTA certification.
Methods: Eleven observers with three different levels of experience evaluated videoclips of 70 adnexal masses, defining tumor type according to IOTA terms and definitions, classifying the mass using IOTA Simple rules and Subjective assessment as well as providing Color Score evaluation.
Background: Neuroblastoma is the most frequent extracranial solid tumor occurring in childhood, representing approximately 28% of all cancers diagnosed in infants. Signs and symptoms of neuroblastoma vary with the site of development of the tumor and can mimic other diseases due to its extreme clinical variability. However, torticollis is not reported in the medical literature as a leading symptom of neuroblastoma.

Despite the tools and techniques may be employed to reduce pain and distress in everyday clinical practice, the care offered is frequently insufficient. Music's potential effect in healthcare settings has received increasing attention.

Induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs), obtained by reprogramming different somatic cell types, represent a promising tool for the study of drug toxicities, especially in the context of personalized medicine. Indeed, these cells retain the same genetic heritage of the donor, allowing the development of personalized models. In addition, they represent a useful tool for the study of adverse drug reactions (ADRs) in special populations, such as pediatric patients, which are often poorly represented in clinical trials due to ethical issues.

Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a neurobehavioral disorder with known brain abnormalities but no biomarkers to support clinical diagnosis. Recently, EEG analysis methods such as functional connectivity have rekindled interest in using EEG for ADHD diagnosis. Most studies have focused on resting-state EEG, while connectivity during sleep and spindle activity has been underexplored.

Background: The efficacy of continuous antibiotic prophylaxis in preventing urinary tract infection (UTI) in infants with grade III, IV, or V vesicoureteral reflux is controversial.
Methods: In this investigator-initiated, randomized, open-label trial performed in 39 European centers, we randomly assigned infants 1 to 5 months of age with grade III, IV, or V vesicoureteral reflux and no previous UTIs to receive continuous antibiotic prophylaxis (prophylaxis group) or no treatment (untreated group) for 24 months. The primary outcome was the occurrence of the first UTI during the trial period.

Background: Tocilizumab is a humanized monoclonal antibody that acts as an IL-6 receptor antagonist. Intravenous tocilizumab is considered an option for children with anti-TNF refractory juvenile idiopathic arthritis-associated uveitis. In contrast, the potential of subcutaneous drug use with this indication is more controversial.

Gender-based medicine is attracting increasing interest every day, but studies on pediatric populations are still limited. In this setting, sex differences among patients undergoing total parenteral nutrition (TPN) have not been previously reported. This study investigated the presence of sex differences in parenteral nutrition composition and outcomes among a cohort of pediatric patients admitted at the Oncohematology and Bone Marrow Transplant Unit of the Institute for Maternal and Child Health "Burlo Garofolo" of Trieste, Italy.

Aims: Continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) can improve glucometrics in children with type 1 diabetes (T1D), and its efficacy is positively related to glucose sensor use for at least 60% of the time. We therefore investigated the relationship between CGM satisfaction as assessed by a robust questionnaire and glucose control in pediatric T1D patients.
Methods: This was a cross-sectional study of children and adolescents with T1D using CGM.

A new system based on binary Deep Learning (DL) convolutional neural networks has been developed to recognize specific retinal abnormality signs on Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) images useful for clinical practice. Images from the local hospital database were retrospectively selected from 2017 to 2022. Images were labeled by two retinal specialists and included central fovea cross-section OCTs.

Children who sustain major injuries are at risk of receiving insufficient pain relief and sedation, which can have physical and psychological repercussions. Heightened emotional distress can increase the likelihood of developing symptoms of post-traumatic stress. Providing sufficient analgesia and sedation for children with major trauma presents specific challenges, given the potential for drug-related adverse events, particularly in non-intubated patients.

When medical interventions fail, orthopedic surgery does not guarantee a definitive result as the displacement may continue postoperatively and a second operation is often required.
Methods: Retrospective analysis of data regarding the safety and effectiveness of an intra-articular corticosteroid injection (IACI) in 11 patients, aged 15 ± 5 years old, collected through a telephonic questionnaire administered to parents.

Periodic fever is not uncommon in childhood and is often ascribed to autoinflammatory conditions; however, it may be present also in children with cancer. We here describe the case of a 3-year-old boy with acute lymphoblastic leukemia who initially presented with a 4-month history of recurrent, stereotyped episodes of fever and localized joint pain, separated by completely symptom-free intervals. These symptoms were initially interpreted as a possible syndrome of undifferentiated recurrent fever until more signs of leukemia became apparent.

The account that word learning starts in earnest during the second year of life, when infants have mastered the disambiguation skills, has recently been challenged by evidence that infants during the first year already know many common words. The preliminary ability to rapidly map and disambiguate linguistic labels was tested in Italian-speaking infants (N = 96, 47 boys; age = 4 and 6 months, eye tracking). Infants can rapidly map linguistic labels to objects and movements, and disambiguate the intended referents to novel words, but they fail with sinewave analogs.

Background And Aims: Foreign body ingestion (FBI) in children requires early identification to prevent adverse outcomes and may necessitate endoscopic or surgical intervention. This study aims to develop a nomogram that identifies children who require urgent surgical or endoscopic intervention by using the patient's medical history and clinical parameters collected at admission.
Methods: This study is a retrospective review (01/2015-12/2020) of a multicenter case series of children admitted for FBI.
