Quercetin (QR), recognized as a natural antibacterial ingredient, has found widespread application in the poultry industry. This study investigated the bacteriostatic mechanism and evaluated the inhibitory impact of caffeic acid-grafted chitosan self-assembled micelles loaded quercetin (CA-g-CS/QR) on avian (). The findings indicate that the bactericidal mechanism of CA-g-CS/QR exhibits enhanced efficacy compared to QR alone, disrupting bacterial cell walls, disassembling biofilm structures, and impeding essential components necessary for bacterial growth.

Mice lacking monoacylglycerol acyltransferase 2 (mMGAT2) are resistant to diet-induced fatty liver, suggesting hMOGAT2 inhibition is a viable option for treating metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD)/metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH). We generated humanized hMOGAT2 mice (HuMgat2) for use in pre-clinical studies testing the efficacy of hMOGAT2 inhibitors for treating MASLD/MASH. HuMgat2 mice developed MASH when fed a steatotic diet.

Introduction: Eprinomectin offers promise against parasitic infections. This study develops Eprinomectin (EPR) mixed micelles for transdermal delivery, aiming to enhance efficacy and convenience against endoparasites and ectoparasites. Physicochemical characterization and pharmacokinetic studies were conducted to assess its potential as an effective treatment for parasitic infections.

Wheat lipids are a minor constituent of wheat, with an important influence on its processing properties. While breeding aimed to improve the protein composition of wheat flour, its influence on the lipid composition remains unknown. We therefore analyzed the lipidome of 60 different common wheat () flours representing cultivars registered and grown in Germany from 1891 to 2010.

DeLTa-seq is a high-throughput RNA-seq library preparation method that enables quantification of the expression of hundreds of arbitrarily selected genes without RNA purification. This method involves direct reverse transcription using rice leaf lysate and targeted RNA-seq library preparation. DeLTa-seq enables the precise quantification of gene expression with a small number of sequencing reads.

Chemostat systems can be used to cultivate complex intestinal microbial communities ex vivo. Here, we present a protocol to transfer bacteria from human fecal material into chemostat systems as well as settings to simulate infant or adult colonic conditions. We describe the experimental setup, media design, donor selection, 16S rRNA amplicon sequencing, and circadian analysis of bacterial abundance.

The microbes, nutrients and toxins that we are exposed to can have a profound effect on the composition and function of the gut microbiome. Thousands of peer-reviewed publications link microbiome composition and function to health from the moment of birth, right through to centenarians, generating a tantalizing glimpse of what might be possible if we could intervene rationally. Nevertheless, there remain relatively few real-world examples where successful microbiome engineering leads to beneficial health effects.

Background: Cardiometabolic diseases pose a significant threat to global public health, with a substantial majority of cardiovascular disease mortality (more than three-quarters) occurring in low- and middle-income countries. There have been remarkable advances in recent years in identifying genetic variants that alter disease susceptibility by interacting with dietary factors. Despite the remarkable progress, several factors need to be considered before the translation of nutrigenetics insights to personalised and precision nutrition in ethnically diverse populations.
