Development of a Virtual Robot Rehabilitation Training System for Children with Cerebral Palsy: An Observational Study.

This paper presents the development of a robotic system for the rehabilitation and quality of life improvement of children with cerebral palsy (CP). The system consists of four modules and is based on a virtual humanoid robot that is meant to motivate and encourage children in their rehabilitation programs. The efficiency of the developed system was tested on two children with CP.

Background And Objectives: The moment of birth represents a complex physiological process that is followed by adaptive changes in the vital systems of the newborn. Such reactions have their positive but also negative effects. The aim of this research was to determine the difference in laboratory values of stress indicators in newborn children delivered by cesarean section (CS) with general and spinal anesthesia.

Segmental Humeral Head Reconstruction in Patients with Chronic Locked Posterior Shoulder Dislocation.

: The goal of this study was to evaluate the functional outcomes of patient treatment using an allograft after chronic locked posterior shoulder dislocation associated with a bony defect of the upper edge of the humerus that involves 25-50% of the articular surfaces. : A total of 20 patients were included in this study. Electrocution was the cause of injury in eight patients; in ten patients, the cause was direct trauma; and in two patients, the cause of injury was a fall due to hypoglycemic coma.

Outcome of early rehabilitation of patients with traumatic brain injury during COVID-19 pandemic in The Republic of Srpska, Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Introduction: The COVID-19 pandemic has placed a tremendous burden on the healthcare system. Patients with traumatic brain injury (TBI) have to get fast track treatment which is independent of environmental conditions. The aim of this study was to investigate epidemiological and clinical outcomes of early rehabilitation and compare it with the literature data during the non-COVID-19 period.

This work from the International Working Group on Neurotransmitter Related Disorders (iNTD) presents the results of the first standardized study on levodopa-refractory hyperprolactinemia (LRHP; >1000 mU/L) and pituitary magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) abnormalities in patients with inherited disorders of biogenic amine metabolism. The correlation between substance use and depression has been emphasized in the literature. Substance use disorders can also adversely affect the caregivers of drug-addicted persons. A cross-sectional study was conducted at the Special Hospital for Addiction Diseases in Belgrade in 2015 to analyze the characteristics, consequences, and health-related quality of life of drug users and their caregivers.

Assessment of intellectual impairment, health-related quality of life, and behavioral phenotype in patients with neurotransmitter related disorders: Data from the iNTD registry.

Inherited disorders of neurotransmitter metabolism are a group of rare diseases, which are caused by impaired synthesis, transport, or degradation of neurotransmitters or cofactors and result in various degrees of delayed or impaired psychomotor development. To assess the effect of neurotransmitter deficiencies on intelligence, quality of life, and behavior, the data of 148 patients in the registry of the International Working Group on Neurotransmitter Related Disorders (iNTD) was evaluated using results from standardized age-adjusted tests and questionnaires. Patients with a primary disorder of monoamine metabolism had lower IQ scores (mean IQ 58, range 40-100) within the range of cognitive impairment (<70) compared to patients with a BH deficiency (mean IQ 84, range 40-129).

First report on the nationwide prevalence of paediatric type 1 diabetes in Serbia and temporal trends of diabetes ketoacidosis at diagnosis-a multicentre study.

We aimed to collect data on all paediatric patients who were diagnosed with type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM) between the years 2000 and 2019 in Serbia and estimate for the first time its prevalence. Also, the trends of diabetes ketoacidosis (DKA) occurrence at the time of diagnosis are monitored. We collected and retrospectively analysed the data of patients <19 years with newly diagnosed T1DM.

The Role of the Appendix Testis in Normal Testicular Descent: Is There a Connection?

Objective: The presence of testicular appendices was prospectively evaluated in 89 boys with 96 undescended testes who underwent orchidopexy over the period of 4 years.

Results: The patients were divided into two groups. Group A included 42 boys with 49 undescended testes positioned close to the internal inguinal ring, and Group B included 47 boys with 47 undescended testes close to the external inguinal ring.

First report on the nationwide incidence of type 1 diabetes and ketoacidosis at onset in children in Serbia: a multicenter study.

Unlabelled: Data regarding incidence of type 1 diabetes (T1DM), as well as data on frequency and severity of diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA) at the time of T1DM diagnosis is of paramount importance for national and regional healthcare planning. The aim of present multicenter study was to provide the first report regarding nationwide annual incidence rates for T1DM in youth in Serbia, as well as prevalence of DKA at the time of diagnosis. Data on all pediatric patients with newly diagnosed T1DM was retrospectively collected from all 15 regional centers for pediatric diabetes in Serbia during the period 2007-2017.

Introduction: The aim of our study was to compare the level of the most common organophosphate metabolite, dimethyl phosphate, in urine of women giving birth to both boys with cryptorchidism (study group), and healthy boys (control group), as well as to compare the level of dimethyl phosphate in our population with the results obtained in other populations.

Material And Methods: After the ethical approval we included thirty women in both study and control groups. All newborns were born between 38 and 42weeks' gestation.

Objective: The objective was to show potential value of ultrasound in detection and follow-up of gastric foreign bodies.

Material And Methods: Medical records of 18 children with gastric foreign bodies were evaluated retrospectively.

Results: The following gastric foreign bodies were identified: eight coins, five button batteries, domino, lollipop stick, hairclip, screw nut, and small plastic cylinders.

Aberrant right common carotid and subclavian arteries causing tracheoesophageal compression combined with persistent left superior vena cava--case report.

Vascular rings are a rare group of congenital thoracic vascular anomalies which are characterized by abnormal vascular structures that completely or incompletely encircle the trachea, esophagus, or both. We report the case of a vascular ring formed around the trachea and esophagus by aberrant right subclavian artery and aberrant right common carotid artery, associated with persistent left superior vena cava, complete absence of azygos vein, and with multiple nonvascular abnormalities. Recurrent pulmonary infections were the only clinical manifestation of this complex vascular anomaly.
