Per-and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs) have garnered significant attention owing to their prevalence and adverse effects on humans. The direct dietary intake of perfluoroalkyl acids (PFAAs) and PFAAs precursors (pre-PFAAs) biotransformation are considered major contributors to human exposure to PFASs. However, little information is available on analytical methods for the simultaneous detection of PFAAs and pre-PFAAs.

We investigated the effects of different nanoplastic (NP, size = 100 nm) concentrations on red crayfish (Cherax quadricarinatus) and examined toxicity mechanisms. We established four concentration groups (control (CK): 0 μg/L; Low: 100 μg/L; Medium: 500 μg/L; and High: 1000 μg/L) and analyzed toxicity effects in C. quadricarinatus hepatopancreas using histopathological, transcriptomic, metabolomic, and fluorescence methods.

Target-immobilized magnetic beads-based Systematic Evolution of Ligands by Exponential Enrichment (target-immobilized Mag-SELEX) has emerged as a powerful tool for aptamer selection owing to its convenience, efficiency, and versatility. However, in this study we systematically investigated non-specific adsorption in target-immobilized Mag-SELEX and found that the non-specific adsorption of the oligonucleotides to target-labeled magnetic beads was comparable to that of the screening libraries, indicating a substantial portion of captured sequences likely stem from non-specific adsorption. Longer nucleic acid sequences (80 nt and above, such as polyA80 and yeast tRNA) were found to attenuate this non-specific adsorption, with more complex higher-order structures demonstrating greater efficacy, while dNTP and short sequences such as primer sequences (20 nt), polyT(59), or polyA(59), did not possess this capability.

Perfluorooctane sulfonate (PFOS) is a typical persistent organic pollutant that is characterized by environmental persistence, bioaccumulation, and toxicity. In this study, we investigated the gut microbial response of the red claw crayfish Cherax quadricarinatus after 28 days of exposure to 0 ng/L, 1 ng/L, 10 μg/L, or 10 mg/L of PFOS as a stressor. We measured oxidative stress-related enzyme activities and expression of molecules related to detoxification mechanisms to evaluate the toxic effects of PFOS.

Riverine mercury (Hg) is mainly transported to coastal areas in suspended particulate matter (SPM)-bound form, posing a potential threat to human health. Water discharge and SPM characteristics in rivers vary naturally with seasonality and can also be arbitrarily disrupted by anthropogenic regulation events, but their effects on Hg transport remain unresolved. Aiming to understand the confounding effects of seasonality and anthropogenic river regulation on Hg and SPM transport, this study selected the highly sediment-laden Yellow River as a representative conduit.

Straw amendment significantly enhances mercury (Hg) methylation and subsequent methylmercury (MeHg) bioaccumulation in Hg-contaminated paddy fields by releasing dissolved organic matter (DOM). This study comprehensively investigates the regulatory mechanisms of DOM and its different molecular weights derived from sulfur-rich rape straw (RaDOM) and composted rape straw (CRaDOM) applied in the rice-filling stage on soil MeHg production and subsequent bioaccumulation in rice grains. The results indicated that the amendment of RaDOM and CRaDOM significantly reduced soil MeHg content by 42.

Fusarium heading blight (FHB) is a devastating disease in wheat, primarily caused by field invasion of . Due to the scarcity of resistant wheat varieties, the agricultural sector resorts to chemical fungicides to control FHB incidence. On the other hand, biocontrol represents a promising, eco-friendly approach aligned with sustainable and green agriculture concepts.

A rapid analytical method for the simultaneous determination of 550 pesticide residues in vegetable samples was developed based on ultra-high performance liquid chromatography-tandem Q/Orbitrap high-resolution mass spectrometry (UPLC-Q/Orbitrap-HRMS). To investigate the risk of exposure to pesticide residues through vegetable consumption, 704 leafy vegetable samples from Shanghai were analysed for multiple residues using this method. A total of 54 pesticide residues were identified in these vegetable samples and 302 samples contained one or more pesticide residue.

As a vital organelle in eukaryotic cells, the Golgi apparatus is responsible for processing and transporting proteins in cells. Precisely monitoring the status of the Golgi apparatus with targeted fluorescence imaging technology is of enormous importance but remains a dramatically challenging task. In this study, we demonstrate the construction of the first Golgi apparatus-targeted near-infrared (NIR) fluorescent nanoprobe, termed Golgi-Pdots.

Introduction: Waxy maize, mainly consumed at the immature stage, is a staple and vegetable food in Asia. The pigmentation in the kernel of purple waxy maize enhances its nutritional and market values. Light, a critical environmental factor, affects anthocyanin biosynthesis and results in pigmentation in different parts of plants, including in the kernel.

With the rapid advancements in aptamer screening, the efficient extraction of short single-stranded DNA (ssDNA) from agarose gel has become a new requirement. However, the currently available products are primarily designed for double-stranded DNA (dsDNA) and exhibit limited efficacy when applied to the extraction of short ssDNA. In this study, we successfully developed a novel method based on amino-modified silica-coated magnetic particles (ASMPs) for the extraction of short ssDNA from agarose gel.

The determination of the grades and interval of quantitative characteristics is an important job while we draft new distinctness, uniformity and stability (DUS) test guidelines. Grading criteria should be adjusted because of the effect of year and site; it is also a key task to establish applicable criteria in the DUS test. Excellent criteria will improve the accuracy of the DUS evaluation.

Distinctness is one of the key requirements for the granting of PVRs, and molecular markers are widely used as a robust supplementary method for similar variety selection in the distinctness test.

Extensive and high residue variations in enrofloxacin (ENR) exist in different aquatic products. A novel quantitative method for measuring ENR using high-performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry was developed employing enrofloxacin- (ENR-) and enrofloxacin- (ENR-) as isotope surrogates. This reduced the deviation of detected values, which results from the overpass of the linear range and/or the large difference in the residue between the isotope standard and ENR, from the actual content.
