Colorectal liver metastases grow following different histologic growth patterns (HGPs), classified as desmoplastic and nondesmoplastic (dHGP, non-dHGP), being the latter associated with worst prognosis. This study aimed to investigate the tumor microenvironment (TME) between HGPs supporting different survival. Multiplexed immunohistochemical staining was performed with the Opal7 system in a 100-patients cohort to evaluate the tumor-liver interface with three different cell panels: lymphoid, myeloid, and carcinoma-associated fibroblasts.

Methods: This retrospective, multicentre study included ulcerative colitis patients with ileal pouch construction and were later diagnosed with an inflammatory pouch disorder between 1995 and 2020. Classifications, behaviour and therapies applied were recorded and compared in the long-term.
Importance: Cardiac surgery-associated acute kidney injury (CSA-AKI) remains a significant problem following cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB). Various strategies are proposed to attenuate CSA-AKI, including extracorporeal blood purification (EBP), but little is known about the effect of EBP through an acrylonitrile-sodium methallylsulfonate/polyethyleneimine membrane during CPB.
Objective: To determine whether the use of an EBP device in a nonemergent cardiac surgery population reduces CSA-AKI after CPB.

Diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL), the most frequent non-Hodgkin's lymphoma subtype, is characterized by strong biological, morphological, and clinical heterogeneity, but patients are treated with immunochemotherapy in a relatively homogeneous way. Here, we have used a customized NanoString platform to analyze a series of 197 homogeneously treated DLBCL cases. The platform includes the most relevant genes or signatures known to be useful for predicting response to R-CHOP (Rituximab, Cyclophosphamide, Doxorubicin, Vincristine, and Prednisone) in DLBCL cases.

Background: Colorectal surgery is associated with the highest rate of surgical site infection (SSI). This study analyses the effectiveness of an interventional surveillance program on SSI rates after elective colorectal surgery.
Material And Methods: Cohort study showing temporal trends of SSI rates and Standardized Infection Ratio (SIR) in elective colorectal surgery over a 12-year period.

Objective: During the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, the availability of a critical care bed was insufficient. The aim of this work was to evaluate the presence of protocols, management in the emergency department (ED) and the availability of intensive care unit (ICU) beds for severe COVID-19 patients attended in Spanish hospital EDs during the first peak of the 2020 pandemic.
Methods: Questionnaire collecting data regarding ED care in March-April 2020 aimed at all Spanish public health care EDs.

Background And Purpose: DSC-PWI has demonstrated promising results in the presurgical diagnosis of brain tumors. While most studies analyze specific parameters derived from time-intensity curves, very few have directly analyzed the whole curves. The aims of this study were the following: 1) to design a new method of postprocessing time-intensity curves, which renders normalized curves, and 2) to test its feasibility and performance on the diagnosis of primary central nervous system lymphoma.

The Supplementary Motor Area (SMA)-located in the superior and medial aspects of the superior frontal gyrus-is a preferential site of certain brain tumors and arteriovenous malformations, which often provoke the so-called SMA syndrome. The bulk of the literature studying this syndrome has focused on two of its most apparent symptoms: contralateral motor and speech deficits. Surprisingly, little attention has been given to working memory (WM) even though neuroimaging studies have implicated the SMA in this cognitive process.

Along the lines of this document, we have developed another document on adult patients to homogenize the clinical practice and improve the quality of care in enteral access in this age group. The working group included health professionals (nurses, dietitians and doctor) with extensive experience in enteral nutrition and access.

World population is aging day after day and coronary atherosclerosis disease is becoming a worldwide pandemic disease. Whereas the number of patients with surgical or percutaneous coronary revascularization is increasing, a new revascularization procedure in a previously revascularized patient is a situation that is already being common in cath labs all over the world. Such patients present some special considerations, with a higher risk and worse prognosis than the usual patients and they require to take specific attitudes regarding prognosis, treatment and revascularization technique.

Introduction: Hereditary and acquired angioedema result from a deficiency in first complement component esterase (C1-esterase) inhibitor. It is characterized by transient subcutaneous tissue, intestinal wall, and upper airway swelling, which may lead to asphyxia and death. The pathophysiology, classification, diagnosis, and treatment of this condition are discussed, as is the follow-up of patients diagnosed with angioedema who received 1 vial of concentrated C1-INH (Berinert); the contribution of the Pharmacy Department in the dispensation and control of said drug is also assessed.

We describe in this paper the methodology and results of the Hospital Universitario de Bellvitge Atherosclerosis Secondary Preventive Program (PPSHB), which is aimed at preventing ischemic recurrences by controlling atherogenic factors.
Patients And Method: From January 1992 to December 1996, 882 patients with acute CAD entered the PPSHB and were seen on at least 2 occasions at the Unidad de Lípidos y Arteriosclerosis during a mean period of 10.
