Introduction And Objectives: Despite the importance of length of stay (LOS) following spinal cord injury, it remains underexplored in the literature. This study aims to bridge this gap by investigating the association between rehabilitation LOS and functional gains among patients with traumatic (TSCI) or non-traumatic (NTSCI) spinal cord injuries.
Methods: We conducted a retrospective observational cohort study assessing functional gains using the motor Functional Independence Measure (mFIM) and the Spinal Cord Independence Measure (SCIM III) from rehabilitation admission to discharge.

Context: A previously healthy 40-year-old woman experienced a sudden complete tetraplegia (C8, AIS-A).
Findings: MRI revealed a C6/C7 disc herniation surrounded by an epidural haematoma.
Conclusion/clinical Relevance: Physicians must recognize acute, non-traumatic disc herniation as a potential cause of spinal cord injury, urging prompt diagnosis and intervention.

Purpose: Anorexia nervosa (AN) is a mental health disorder characterized by significant weight loss and associated medical and psychological comorbidities. Conventional treatments for severe AN have shown limited effectiveness, leading to the exploration of novel interventional strategies, including deep brain stimulation (DBS). However, the neural mechanisms driving DBS interventions, particularly in psychiatric conditions, remain uncertain.

Background: To overcome the application limitations of functional electrical stimulation (FES), such as fatigue or nonlinear muscle response, the combination of neuroprosthetic systems with robotic devices has been evaluated, resulting in hybrid systems that have promising potential. However, current technology shows a lack of flexibility to adapt to the needs of any application, context or individual. The main objective of this study is the development of a new modular neuroprosthetic system suitable for hybrid FES-robot applications to meet these needs.

High-quality and accessible education is crucial for advancing neuropsychology. A recent study identified key barriers to board certification in clinical neuropsychology, such as time constraints and insufficient specialized knowledge. To address these challenges, this study explored the capabilities of advanced Artificial Intelligence (AI) language models, GPT-3.

Background: In-hospital falls are frequent post-stroke medical complications and will remain of concern because it may not be possible to prevent all of them. We aimed to i) compare admission clinical and sociodemographic characteristics between fallers and non-fallers ii) determine falls characteristics iii) compare length of stay (LOS), discharge functional independence, ambulation and destination between fallers and non-fallers.
Methods: A matched case-control study, comparing individuals (n = 302) who fell during inpatient post-acute rehabilitation, matched (on time to admission, age and motor Functional Independence Measure (mFIM)) to individuals (n = 302) who didn´t fall, admitted within 3 months post-injury to a center between 2008 and 2023.

Context/objective: Community integration (CI) is a crucial rehabilitation goal after spinal cord injury (SCI). There is a pressing need to enhance our understanding of the factors associated with CI for individuals with traumatic or non-traumatic etiologies, with the latter being notably understudied. Accordingly, our research explores the associations and potential mediators influencing CI across these populations.

With human life expectancy and proportion of older adults increasing, global use of evidence-supported preventative methods to minimize risk of brain-related disabilities such as Alzheimer's disease and other dementias-as well as interventions to slow rate of disease progression-is important. Sustained engagement in cognitive and physical exercise programs may prevent or delay dementia onset as well as maximize health and function of those with dementia. Despite awareness of the importance of cognitive and physical exercise to brain health, exercise program adherence by older adults is extremely challenging.

Purpose: The objective of this prospective, single-centre case series was to investigate feasibility, clinical outcomes, and neural correlates of non-invasive Neuromodulation-Induced Cortical Prehabilitation (NICP) before brain tumor surgery. Previous studies have shown that gross total resection is paramount to increase life expectancy but is counterbalanced by the need of preserving critical functional areas. NICP aims at expanding functional margins for extensive tumor resection without functional sequelae.

Introduction: Understanding the impact of different lifestyle trajectories on health preservation and disease risk is crucial for effective interventions.
Methods: This study analyzed lifestyle engagement over five years in 3,013 healthy adults aged 40-70 from the Barcelona Brain Health Initiative using K-means clustering. Nine modifiable risk factors were considered, including cognitive, physical, and social activity, vital plan, diet, obesity, smoking, alcohol consumption, and sleep.

Objectives: Innovative precision dietary procedures are required to promote healthy aging. This study aimed to evaluate the effects of a personalised strategy based on the inclusion of individualised foods and digital tools on overall health status and quality of life within a follow-up of 3 months in older adults with overweight or obesity.
Methods: 127 men and women aged between 50 and 80 years with overweight/obesity participated in the study-between January 2020 and September 2020 at the Center for Nutrition Research-University of Navarra and IMDEA-ALIMENTACIÓN-and were randomly assigned to a usual-care group (standard recommendations) or precision group (precision nutrition strategy based on the inclusion of individualised foods and a mobile application).

Primary brain neoplasms are associated with elevated mortality and morbidity rates. Brain tumour surgery aims to achieve maximal tumour resection while minimizing damage to healthy brain tissue. Research on Neuromodulation Induced Cortical Prehabilitation (NICP) has highlighted the potential, before neurosurgery, of establishing new brain connections and transfer functional activity from one area of the brain to another.

Background: Most studies focus on the risk factors associated with the development of pressure ulcers (PUs) during acute phase or community care for individuals with spinal cord injury (SCI).
Objectives: This study aimed to i) compare clinical and demographic characteristics of inpatients after SCI with PUs acquired during rehabilitation vs inpatients without PUs and ii) evaluate an existing PU risk assessment tool iii) identify first PU predictors.
Methods: Individuals (n = 1,135) admitted between 2008 and 2022 to a rehabilitation institution within 60 days after SCI were included.
