First example of airway restoration using cryopreserved aortic allograft after total laryngectomy: CARE case report.

Case Description: A 70 year-old woman presenting T4aN2cM0 laryngeal carcinoma first underwent total laryngectomy with airway reconstruction by cryopreserved aortic allograft. Six months after chemoradiotherapy, she underwent endoscopic surgery to create a neo-laryngopharynx.

Results: At 13 months after primary surgery, day- and night-time breathing was effectively restored, with a little persistent salivary false passage, and a whispering but comprehensible voice after tracheostomy closure.

Influence of DPYD gene polymorphisms on 5-Fluorouracil toxicities in Thai colorectal cancer patients.

DPYD polymorphisms have been widely found to be related to 5-FU-induced toxicities. The aim of this study was to establish significant associations between five single-nucleotide polymorphisms of DPYD and 5-FU hematological toxicities in Thai colorectal cancer patients. The toxicities were analyzed at the first and second cycles of 5-FU administration in 75 patients.

High-dose melphalan supported by autologous transplantation has been the standard of care for eligible patients with newly diagnosed multiple myeloma for nearly 30 years. Several randomized clinical trials have reaffirmed the strong position of transplant in the era of triplets combining proteasome inhibitors, immunomodulatory drugs, and dexamethasone.
