Motivation: Microsatellite instability (MSI) is a molecular marker of DNA mismatch repair deficiency frequently at play in oncogenesis. MSI testing is used for diagnostic, prognostic and therapeutic purposes in several cancers. The current gold standard analysis for microsatellite status is based on length distribution analysis of multiplex-PCR generated DNA fragments from tumor samples which is a laborious and time consuming method.

Monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) against programmed cell death 1 (PD-1), such as nivolumab and pembrolizumab, are associated with high response rates in patients with relapsed or refractory classic Hodgkin lymphoma (HL). To date, no prognostic factor for overall survival (OS) has been established with these agents in HL. We examined whether the first early response assessment evaluated using F-FDG PET/CT may be associated with OS in this setting.

Sinusoidal obstruction syndrome, also known as veno-occlusive disease (SOS/VOD), is a potentially life-threatening complication that can develop after hematopoietic cell transplantation (HCT). While SOS/VOD may resolve within a few weeks in the majority of patients with mild-to-moderate disease, the most severe forms result in multiorgan dysfunction and are associated with a high mortality rate (>80%). Therefore, careful surveillance may allow early detection of SOS/VOD, particularly as the licensed available drug is proven to be effective and reduce mortality.

Cancer cells undergo massive alterations in their DNA methylation patterns which result in aberrant gene expression and malignant phenotypes. Abnormal DNA methylation is a prognostic marker in several malignancies, but its potential prognostic significance in adult T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (T-ALL) is poorly defined. Here, we performed methylated DNA immunoprecipitation to obtain a comprehensive genome-wide analysis of promoter methylation in adult T-ALL (n=24) compared to normal thymi (n=3).

Patients with multiple myeloma are generally older and vary in fitness levels, which may influence the clinical benefit of treatment. Patients from the large, phase 3 FIRST trial in newly diagnosed multiple myeloma (NDMM) were retrospectively investigated to determine outcomes based on frailty using scores for age, Charlson Comorbidity Index (CCI), and Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group performance status (ECOG PS), instead of the EQ-5D quality-of-life questionnaire, as previously reported. ECOG PS (n = 1618) was investigated in frailty groups: frail (49%) and nonfrail (51%).

As for the Bethesda system for cervical and thyroid cytopathology, a terminology for reporting urinary cytology has been published in 2015. The new "Paris System" provides a consensus terminology for urinary cytology which underlines the criteria for the recognition of high-grade urothelial carcinoma (HGUC) and of those excluding HGUC, or suspicious for HGUC. It also focuses on new rules to recognize and report the subgroup of "atypical urothelial cells".

Clear-cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC) possesses an unmet medical need, particularly at the metastatic stage, when surgery is ineffective. Complement is a key factor in tissue inflammation, favoring cancer progression through the production of complement component 5a (C5a). However, the activation pathways that generate C5a in tumors remain obscure.

The emergence of oral cancer treatment in oncology has shifted patient follow-up from the hospital to the home. This trend has resulted in an increase in phone and e-mail interactions initiated by patients, but also by pharmacists, by liberal nurses, by general practitioners, and an increase in calls to the emergency response services (SAMU) both for real or perceived emergencies. This increased volume of patient and pharmacist communication has caused significant disruption in the daily activity of affected oncology departments and in particular of the secretariats.

Neuroendocrine tumors (NET) represent a heterogeneous group of tumors originating from cells of neuroendocrine origin, which express somatostatin receptors (SSTR). This property allowed the successful development of radionuclides for diagnostic and peptide radionuclide radiation therapy (PRRT). This is the paradigm for the theragnostic concept in NET personalized medicine.

Purpose: The detection of preexisting subclones and the assessment of their clinical significance in the pretreatment of patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) remain unclear.
Experimental Design: A total of 179 tumor samples from patients treated or not with a first-generation tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI) was analyzed. The presence of ultra-low levels of preexisting EGFR mutation was evaluated using ultra-sensitive droplet digital PCR (ddPCR) and the clinical implication of these mutations on first-generation TKI efficiency assessed.
