Patients with refractory or relapsed acute myeloid leukemia (R/R AML) have a poor prognosis, with a high unmet medical need. Idasanutlin is a small-molecule inhibitor of MDM2, a negative regulator of tumor suppressor p53. By preventing the p53-MDM2 interaction, idasanutlin allows for p53 activation, particularly in patients with wild-type (WT) status.

Dermatological toxicities (affecting the skin, mucous membranes, nails or hair) are frequently associated with cancer treatments. They can represent a real burden for patients, with physical, social and psychological repercussions. These dermatological adverse events can also persist long after the treatment has ended, especially after treatment with cytotoxic chemotherapeutic agents such as taxanes.

Hyperkeratotic skin adverse events are a group of toxic effects, characterized by the disruption of epidermal homeostasis and interaction with keratinocyte proliferation/differentiation or keratinocyte survival, and frequently reported with systemic anticancer treatments. These types of reactions include hand-foot skin reaction or palmoplantar keratoderma, induced psoriasis, keratosis pilaris-like or pityriasis rubra pilaris-like rashes, Grover's disease, and contact hyperkeratosis. Cutaneous squamoproliferative lesions are also described because of the presence of abnormal keratinocyte proliferation.

Introduction: Treatment decision-making for intermediate-risk prostate cancer (CaP) is mainly based on grade and tumor involvement on systematic biopsy. We aimed to assess the added value of multi-parametric magnetic resonance imaging (mpMRI) and targeted biopsy (TB) features for predicting final pathology and for improving the well-established favourable/unfavourable systematic biopsy-based sub-classification.

Materials And Methods: From a prospective database of 377 intermediate risk CaP cases, we evaluated the performance of the standard intermediate risk classification (IRC), and the predictive factors for unfavourable disease on final pathology aiming to build a new model.

[Salivary gland cytopathology: Milan system 2018].

Ann Pathol

Département d'anatomie et de cytologie pathologiques, institut universitaire du cancer Toulouse oncopôle, 1, avenue Irène Joliot-Curie, 31059 Toulouse cedex, France.

The salivary glands cytology is one of the most challenging area in cytopathology because of the wide diversity of benign and malignant tumors also because of their heterogeneity. However, fine needle aspiration cytology, with magnetic resonance imaging, represents a first-line examination to guide a possible surgical procedure and its extent. An accurate diagnosis of a specific tumor is sometimes difficult to assess in cytology.

Introduction: Sentinel lymph node (SLN) detection has been shown to be accurate in detecting lymph node involvement in early-stage cervical cancer. The objective of this study was to evaluate the accuracy of frozen section examination in the assessment of SLN status, with the aim of adequately driving the intra-operative decision.

Methods: We designed a retrospective study including patients from two comprehensive cancer centers between January 2001 and December 2018 with early-stage cervical cancer (IA1-IB2 according to International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics (FIGO) 2018) undergoing SLN dissection.

Unexplained pain after scheduled limb surgery.

Orthop Traumatol Surg Res

February 2020

Inserm U1153, service de chirurgie Orthopédique, université Paris-Descartes, hôpital Cochin, Assistance publique-Hôpitaux de Paris, Paris, France.

Orthopedic surgery can lead to pain that is poorly if at all explicable, both in the immediate postoperative period and at longer term, impairing the surgical result and necessitating a multidisciplinary approach of multimodal analgesia throughout the patient's care pathway. Preoperatively, patients at high risk of postoperative pain need to be identified and referred to a pain specialist to optimize pain management. Surgical and anesthesiological measures then need to be taken intraoperatively to limit the risk of pain.

Motivation: Microsatellite instability (MSI) is a molecular marker of DNA mismatch repair deficiency frequently at play in oncogenesis. MSI testing is used for diagnostic, prognostic and therapeutic purposes in several cancers. The current gold standard analysis for microsatellite status is based on length distribution analysis of multiplex-PCR generated DNA fragments from tumor samples which is a laborious and time consuming method.
