We developed a systematic polarizable force field for molten trivalent rare-earth chlorides, from lanthanum to europium, based on first-principle calculations. The proposed model was employed to investigate the local structure and physicochemical properties of pure molten salts and their mixtures with sodium chloride. We computed densities, heat capacities, surface tensions, viscosities, and diffusion coefficients and disclosed their evolution along the lanthanide series, filling the gaps for poorly studied elements, such as promethium and europium.

The experimental data consists of full-field measurements from a family of tested mechanical structures. The rational design of metal-nitrogen-doped carbons (M-N-C) from available and cost-effective sources featuring high electrocatalytic performance and stability is attractive for the development of viable low-temperature fuel cells. Background: Non-invasive photobiomodulation therapy (PBMT), employing specific infrared light wavelengths to stimulate biological tissues, has recently gained attention for its application to treat neurological disorders. Artificial light at night (ALAN) is an anthropogenic pollutant that is intensifying and expanding in marine environments, but experimental studies of community-level effects are generally lacking. The inshore, shallow, and clear-water locations of coral reefs and their diverse photosensitive inhabitants make these ecosystems highly susceptible to biological disturbances; at the same time, their biodiversity and accessibility make them model systems for wider insight. We report the synthesis and characterization of two chiral binuclear iridium(III) complexes ( and ) prepared from enantiopure building blocks [μ-Cl(Δ-Ir(C^N))] and [μ-Cl(Λ-Ir(C^N))]. We combine simultaneous live tracking of pairs of genomic loci and nascent transcripts with molecular dynamics simulations to assess the gene and its enhancer. We find that both loci exhibit more constrained mobility than control sequences due to stalled cohesin at CCCTC-binding factor sites.

Coexistence of room temperature magneto-chiral dichroism and magneto-electric coupling in a chiral nanomagnet.

We report herein on the magneto-chiral dichroism (MChD), investigated through near infrared light absorption, of a chiral nanomagnet showing room temperature magneto-electric coupling. The MChD signal associated with the Yb center is driven by the magnetic dipole allowed character of the F ← F electronic transition (|Δ| = 1). Magnetic field and temperature dependence studies reveal an MChD signal that follows the material magnetization and persists at room temperature.

We recorded and analyzed the microwave spectra of 2,5-dimethylanisole using a pulsed molecular jet Fourier transform microwave spectrometer and the newly developed Passage And Resonant-Impulse Synergy spectrometer across a frequency range of 2-26.5 GHz with support from quantum chemical calculations.
