Acute Promyelocytic Leukaemia (APL) arises from an aberrant chromosomal translocation involving the Retinoic Acid Receptor Alpha (RARA) gene, predominantly with the Promyelocytic Leukaemia (PML) or Promyelocytic Leukaemia Zinc Finger (PLZF) genes. The resulting oncoproteins block the haematopoietic differentiation program promoting aberrant proliferative promyelocytes. Retinoic Acid (RA) therapy is successful in most of the PML::RARA patients, while PLZF::RARA patients frequently become resistant and relapse.

Tetramethylammonium (TMA) is a ubiquitous cationic motif in biochemistry, found in the charged choline headgroup of membrane phospholipids and in tri-methylated lysine residues, which modulates histone-DNA interactions and impacts epigenetic mechanisms. TMA interactions with anionic species, particularly carboxylate groups of amino acid residues and extracellular sugars, are of substantial biological relevance, as these interactions mediate a wide range of cellular processes. This study investigates the molecular interactions between TMA and acetate, representing carboxylate-containing groups, using neutron scattering experiments complemented by force fields and molecular dynamics (MD) simulations.

Nanoscale Magnetic Ordering Dynamics in a High Curie Temperature Ferromagnet.

Thermally driven transitions between ferromagnetic and paramagnetic phases are characterized by critical behavior with divergent susceptibilities, long-range correlations, and spin dynamics that can span kHz to GHz scales as the material approaches the critical temperature , but it has proven technically challenging to probe the relevant length and time scales with most conventional measurement techniques. In this study, we employ scanning nitrogen-vacancy center based magnetometry and relaxometry to reveal the critical behavior of a high- ferromagnetic oxide near its Curie temperature. Novel pH-sensitive polymeric photosensitizer carriers from the phthalocyanine (Pc) group were investigated as potential photodynamic therapy drugs for the treatment of breast cancer. Their high antiproliferative activity was confirmed by photocytotoxicity studies, which indicated their high efficacy and specificity toward the SK-BR-3 cell line. Importantly, the Pcs encapsulated in the polymeric nanoparticle (NP) carrier exhibited a much better penetration into the acidic environment of tumor cells than their free form.

In this work, the rare earth element Ce was incorporated into the A-site of SrBaNbO ferroelectric ceramics, which was prepared using the conventional solid state reaction method and sintered under different procedures. A comprehensive investigation was conducted to assess the impact of Ce doping and varying sintering procedures on both the relaxor characteristics and electrical properties of the ceramics.
