Pulp chamber and root canal obliteration (PCO/RCO) presents a challenge for clinicians when nonsurgical endodontic treatment is indicated. Guided endodontics (GE) aims to precisely locate the root canal (RC) system while preserving as much pericervical dentin as possible. GE involves integrating cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) of the affected tooth with a digital impression of the maxillary/mandibular arch, allowing for careful planning of the drilling path to the RC system through a three-dimensional (3D) static guide.

Introduction: Photobiomodulation (PBM) with low-level laser therapy (LLLT) is a non-invasive method for accelerating orthodontic tooth movement (OTM). Several systematic reviews (SRs) have assessed the effectiveness of LLLT on OTM acceleration. However, the interpretations and analysis of the findings of these SRs are inconclusive and inconsistent due to the substantial heterogeneity of their results, mainly due to the wide variety of parameters employed in the primary studies.

Article Synopsis
  • Oroantral communication is a common complication after removing posterior maxillary teeth, connecting the maxillary sinus to the oral cavity.
  • Immediate closure within 48 hours is recommended to prevent further issues like fistulas or chronic sinus problems.
  • This study introduces a straightforward surgical method that uses a collagen sponge mixed with hydroxyapatite and ribose, topped with double layers of ribose cross-linked collagen membrane for effective closure.

Faculty of Health, Universidad Santiago de Cali, Cl. 5 #No. 62-00, 760035 Cali, Colombia - Fundación Valle del Lili, Medicina física y rehabilitación, Carrera. 98 #18-49, 760032 Cali, Colombia.

Introduction: Ventricular assist devices represent a treatment option for patients with advanced heart failure, offering control over various haemodynamic variables. Similarly, the prescription of exercise within a cardiac rehabilitation programme for heart failure patients is recommended to reduce symptoms, and hospitalisations, improve cardiorespiratory fitness, and increase exercise tolerance. Therefore, exercise prescription can impact those with ventricular assist devices.

The implementation of imaging methods that enable sensitive and specific observation of anatomical structures has been a constant in the evolution of endodontic therapy. Cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) enables 3-dimensional (3D) spatial anatomical navigation in the 3 volumetric planes (sagittal, coronal and axial) which translates into great accuracy for the identification of endodontic pathologies/conditions. CBCT interpretation consists of 2 main components: (i) the generation of specific tasks of the image and (ii) the subsequent interpretation report.

Background: This study aims to compare the cyclic fatigue resistance (CFR) of the Reciproc Blue and WaveOne Gold instruments under a dynamic cyclical fatigue test.

Material And Methods: 210 Reciproc Blue "R25" and WaveOne Gold "primary" files were assigned into 7 groups (n =15) for each brand. Groups G: Files were not exposed to NaOCl or sterilization.

Although several studies have evaluated the effect of low-level laser therapy (LLLT) on orthodontic movement acceleration, results are still inconsistent. Such inconsistencies may be attributed to the differences in the LLLT application protocols, especially in terms of wavelength ranges. Objective: (i) to assess the clinical effects of LLLT on the acceleration of orthodontic movement and (ii) to establish the most effective LLLT wavelength to accelerate tooth movement during orthodontic treatments.

Objective: To compare the stress distribution and total strain applied to the dentition, periodontal ligament (PDL) and cortical and trabecular bones by three Class II correctors using finite element analysis.

Design: Three-dimensional analysis of stresses and total strain of the dentition with three Class II correctors.

Setting: Computational study.

Background: This systematic review investigated the effectiveness, efficiency and apical extrusion of the debris of two rotary and two reciprocating single-file systems used for the removal of filling material from straight root canals.

Material And Methods: A literature search was performed in the Medline, ISI Web of Science, and Scopus databases for relevant articles matching the keyword search strategy. Effectiveness was determined with studies dealing with the ability of the instruments to remove filling material from root canals.

Background: The main objective of this systematic review is to evaluate the effectiveness of platelet concentrates -Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) or Fibrin-rich plasma (PRF)- compared with blood clot (BC) as scaffolds for maturogenesis, in patients with immature permanent teeth with or without AP, in terms of the criteria for pulp revascularization success.

Material And Methods: We reviewed randomized controlled clinical trials comparing regenerative endodontic therapies (maturogenesis) based on PRP or PRF versus the conventional BC approach, in necrotic teeth with or without apical periodontitis (AP) under clinical and radiographic criteria. We performed a strategic search in MEDLINE (PUBMED), EMBASE, and ISI Web of Science from inception to October 2022.

Objectives: This systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to assess the association of cigarette smoking with the prevalence of post-endodontic apical periodontitis in humans.

Materials And Methods: We searched through PubMed/Medline, Web of Science, and Scopus from inception to December 2020. Risk of bias was performed by using the Newcastle-Ottawa Scale for cross-sectional, cohort, and case-control studies.

Introduction: Bone defects hinder implant positioning. Vertical bone deficiency is the most challenging for clinical treatment, due to the high sensitivity of the technique and frequent intra- and postoperative complications. An alternative treatment for vertical defects is guided bone regeneration with simultaneous implantation; however, few studies have evaluated its effectiveness over time.

Aim: This manuscript aims to evaluate, through a scoping review, current knowledge of the biomechanical behavior, materials, preparations, and limitations of occlusal veneers.

Background: Occlusal veneers are a minimally invasive alternative for the additive restoration of posterior teeth with significant loss of the occlusal structure. This type of restoration has been emerged in recent years as an alternative to invasive treatment, which in the same way seeks to restore the structure of the posterior teeth.

Objective: Photobiomodulation therapy (PBMT) has been used in multiple applications in general medicine as powerful anti-inflammatory, analgesic and reducing oedema in different parts of the body. The aim of this study is to compare the effect on post-surgical oedema after mandibular orthognathic surgery, between two different laser power densities and oral medication with non-steroidal anti-inflammatory.

Materials And Methods: In a randomized clinical trial, on 60 patients who were subject to mandibular orthognathic surgery were divided into three groups.
