Carbon dioxide capture and conversion have attracted extreme enthusiasm from the scientific community owing to global warming and environmental problems. However, conversion of CO under atmospheric pressure is of great challenge because of the inertness of CO. Herein, we present a novel covalent triazine framework (CTF-DCE) prepared via ZnCl-catalyzed ionothermal trimerization reaction of di(4-cyanophenyl)ethyne, which displays a high Brunauer-Emmett-Teller surface area of 1355 m g and an excellent CO capture capacity of 191 mg/g at 273 K/1 bar.

Highly pathogenic avian influenza A (H5N6) virus has been circulating in poultry since 2013 and causes sporadic infections and fatalities in humans. Due to the re-occurrence and continuous evolution of this virus subtype, there is an urgent need to better understand the pathogenicity of the H5N6 virus and to identify effective preventative and therapeutic strategies. We established a mouse model to evaluate the virulence of H5N6 A/Guangzhou/39715/2014 (H5N6/GZ14), which was isolated from an infected patient.

Article Synopsis
  • The study focuses on the coat protein gene of the Ornamental Phytovirus (OrMV) to understand its evolution and genetic diversity among 36 isolates, which showed significant subpopulation differences.
  • One isolate was recognized as a recombinant, while 35 others formed two major clades, suggesting that purifying selection influences their differentiation through different evolutionary pressures.
  • The findings also highlighted that genetic variation in OrMV isolates is more strongly influenced by the host species they infect rather than geographic location, with certain genera showing a tendency to cluster together, indicating host-driven adaptation in OrMV diversification.

The first complete genome sequence of narcissus latent virus from Narcissus.

Arch Virol

May 2018

Fujian Key Laboratory for Technology Research of Inspection and Quarantine, Inspection and Quarantine Technology Center, Fujian Exit-Entry Inspection and Quarantine Bureau, Fuzhou, 350001, People's Republic of China.

The complete sequence of a narcissus virus isolated from the Netherlands (Narv-NL) was determined to be 8172 nucleotides in length with an open reading frame encoding for 2624 amino acids. Phylogenetic analysis indicates that Narv-NL is clustered with high confidence among representative members from the genus Macluravirus, including artichoke latent virus (ArLV) and Chinese yam necrotic mosaic virus (CYNMV). Sequence analyses indicated Narv-NL shares 67%-69% nucleotide and 51%-68% amino acid sequence identity with ArLV and CYNMV either in the complete ORF or the coat protein (CP) gene, whereas it had 81%-99 % nucleotide and 80%-99 % amino acid sequence identity with the corresponding CP sequences of narcissus latent virus (NLV) isolates, suggesting that Narv-NL is a member of NLV.
