This study is the first to validate the "split-wound design" approach for wound studies using objective measures. Differential diagnosis of contact dermatitis: A practical-approach review by the EADV Task Force on contact dermatitis.

The diagnosis of eczema ('dermatitis') is mostly clinical and depends on the clinical history and exploratory objective findings (primary lesions, patterns). Contact dermatitis remains as an important condition in the group of eczematous disorders, with important socioeconomic and occupational relevance. Although irritant and allergic contact dermatitis have a different pathogenesis, both are characterized by a rather typical morphology, are triggered by external factors and tend to occur primarily in the area of contact with the exogenous agent.

cSCC (cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma) and its precursors are a major cause of morbidity, especially in immunosuppressed patients, and are frequently associated with human papillomavirus (HPV) infections. The purpose of this study is to investigate the therapeutic potential of alpha-HPV vaccination for immunosuppressed patients with established cSCC and its precursors. In this retrospective study, all patients who received Gardasil-9, a nonavalent HPV vaccine, as secondary prophylaxis were examined.

Exploring medication safety structures and processes in nursing homes: a cross-sectional study.

Background: Medication safety is important to limit adverse events for nursing home residents. Several factors, such as interprofessional collaboration with pharmacists and medication reviews, have been shown in the literature to influence medication safety processes.

Aim: This study had three main objectives: (1) To assess how facility- and unit-level organization and infrastructure are related to medication use processes; (2) To determine the extent of medication safety-relevant processes; and (3) To explore pharmacies' and pharmacists' involvement in nursing homes' medication-related processes.

(1) Introduction: Chronic insomnia (CI) reduces quality of life and may trigger depression and cardiovascular diseases. The European Sleep Research Society recommends cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT-I) as the first-line treatment. Because a recent study in Switzerland demonstrated that this recommendation was inconsistently followed by primary care physicians, we hypothesised that pharmacists also deviate from these guidelines.

Care coordination in homecare and its relationship with quality of care: A national multicenter cross-sectional study.

Introduction: As health care complexity increases, skilled care coordination is becoming increasingly necessary. This is especially true in homecare settings, where services tend to be highly interprofessional. Poor coordination can result in services being provided twice, at the wrong time, unnecessarily or not at all.

Skin hyperpigmentation index in melasma: A complementary method to classic scoring systems.

Background: Due to relapsing nature of melasma with significant impact on quality of life, an objective measurement score is warranted, especially to follow-up the patients with melasma and their therapy response in a quantitative and precise manner.

Aims: To prove concordance of skin hyperpigmentation index (SHI) with well-established scores in melasma and demonstrate its superiority regarding inter-rater reliability. Development of SHI mapping for its integration in common scores.

Accuracy of diagnostic tests in cardiac injury after blunt chest trauma: a systematic review and meta-analysis.

Introduction: The diagnosis of cardiac contusion, caused by blunt chest trauma, remains a challenge due to the non-specific symptoms it causes and the lack of ideal tests to diagnose myocardial damage. A cardiac contusion can be life-threatening if not diagnosed and treated promptly. Several diagnostic tests have been used to evaluate the risk of cardiac complications, but the challenge of identifying patients with contusions nevertheless remains.

Lasers for the treatment of psoriasis: a systematic review.

Introduction: Phototherapy has been one of the first and still frequently used treatment modality for psoriasis. In the last decades, different types of lasers have been used for the treatment of psoriasis and other inflammatory skin diseases with variable success.

Clinical phenotype of adolescent and adult patients with extracranial vascular malformation.

Objective: In recent years, genotypic characterization of congenital vascular malformations (CVMs) has gained attention; however, the spectrum of clinical phenotype remains difficult to attribute to a genetic cause and is rarely described in the adult population. The aim of this study is to describe a consecutive series of adolescent and adult patients in a tertiary center, where a multimodal phenotypic approach was used for diagnosis.

Methods: We analyzed clinical findings, imaging, and laboratory results at initial presentation, and set a diagnosis according to the International Society for the Study of Vascular Anomalies (ISSVA) classification for all consecutively registered patients older than 14 years of age who were referred to the Center for Vascular Malformations at the University Hospital of Bern between 2008 and 2021.
