Objective: Recent advancements in chest tube technologies have gained interest for their ability to enhance postoperative recovery via reduction of retained blood syndrome after cardiothoracic surgery. The present study investigates the effect of the Centese Thoraguard automated line-clearance chest tube system on postoperative pain and recovery after cardiac surgery.

Methods: This was a single-center retrospective review of 1771 adult patients undergoing nonemergency cardiac surgery between January 2021 and December 2022.

Objective: The superior transseptal approach to mitral valve surgery offers improved exposure compared with left atriotomy; however, concerns remain regarding postoperative arrhythmias and pacemaker placement. Methods: A retrospective review was performed of patients who underwent cardiac surgery at a single institution between 2016 and 2021. Patients were categorized as hypoglycemic if they had 1 or more postoperative blood glucose measurement less than 70 mg/dL and normoglycemic otherwise.

Objective: The transplantation of hearts from donors who experienced intracranial bleeding (ICB) has been associated with inferior long-term survival in both single-center analyses and, more recently, with the United Network for Ogan Sharing Registry. The purpose of this study was to further explore this relationship through propensity score matching in recipients receiving donor hearts from ICB and non-ICB donors in a large national registry.

Radiofrequency ablation (RFA) is a minimally invasive treatment modality used as an alternative to surgery in patients with benign thyroid nodules, recurrent thyroid cancers (RTCs), and primary thyroid microcarcinomas. The Korean Society of Thyroid Radiology (KSThR) initially developed recommendations for the optimal use of RFA for thyroid tumors in 2009 and revised them in 2012 and 2017. As new meaningful evidence has accumulated since 2017 and in response to a growing global interest in the use of RFA for treating malignant thyroid lesions, the task force committee members of the KSThR decided to update the guidelines on the use of RFA for the management of RTCs based on a comprehensive analysis of current literature and expert consensus.

Blinatumomab added to conditioning regimen of allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation for adult MRDpositive acute lymphoblastic leukemia: a single-center case series.

Allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (Allo-HSCT) remains the mainstay of treatment for adults with high-risk acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL). Due to the crucial role of measurable residual disease (MRD) before Allo-HSCT in predicting relapse and the promising anti-leukemia effect of blinatumomab, we documented a short-course, low-dose conditioning regimen incorporating blinatumomab for Allo-HSCT in three ALL patients with positive MRD. Following the administration of the blinatumomab-containing conditioning regimen, all patients attained complete remission (CR) with negative MRD status, and no severe adverse events were observed.
