Spinal cord injury (SCI) is a devastating condition generally leading to a permanent and irreversible loss of sensory and motor functions. We have identified recently a number of serotonergic, adrenergic and dopaminergic receptor agonists or precursors that can acutely elicit some motor and locomotor-like movements in completely spinal cord-transected (thoracic level) animals. However, only partial central network-activating effects were found with single molecules since none administered separately could elicit weight-bearing and functional stepping movements in Tx animals.

Total ankle arthroplasty is emerging as a viable treatment for patients with symptomatic tibiotalar arthritis who have not responded to nonoperative treatment. First generation ankle replacement prostheses had significant complications, leading many orthopaedic surgeons to abandon their use. Second generation designs have attempted to address some of these problems with innovative new designs.

Background: Onychomycosis is a relatively common condition affecting toenails more than fingernails. It is caused predominantly by dermatophytes. Onychomycosis can cause pain and discomfort and has the potential to be a source of morbidity.
