Polybutylene adipate terephthalate (PBAT) offers a promising solution to reduce reliance on plastics that do not degrade. In this study, PBAT-EC-ATBC composite antimicrobial film (PEC) was prepared by incorporating clove essential oil (CEO) into a casting solution consisting of PBAT and ethyl cellulose (EC). The mechanical property tests revealed that as the content of CEO increased, the tensile strength of the film decreased from 10.

In recent years, natural deep eutectic solvents have been favored greatly due to their environment friendly, mild biological toxicity and simple biodegradability. Natural deep eutectic solvents gradually applied for the extracting bioactive compounds from natural products efficiently. In this study, 20 natural deep eutectic solvents were prepared and their physical and chemical properties were tested.

In the last decade, natural deep eutectic solvents (NADESs) have gained more and more attention due to their green, convenient preparation, low toxicity and biodegradability. It is widely used in various fields, especially in the extraction of active components from plants, formed by the combination of hydrogen bond donors (HBDs) and hydrogen bond acceptors (HBAs) at a certain condition. In this article, six preparation methods of NADESs were summarized and the interactions that occur in the eutectic behavior of NADES including hydrogen bonding, electrostatic interaction and van der Waals force were also reviewed.

Nitrogen deposition accelerates greenhouse gas emissions at an alpine steppe site on the Tibetan Plateau.

Sci Total Environ

April 2021

Key Laboratory of Ethnomedicine, Ministry of Education, Minzu University of China, Beijing 100081, China. Electronic address:

Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates the impact of nitrogen (N) deposition on greenhouse gas (GHG) exchanges in the alpine steppe over four years, using varying N levels.
  • Findings show that CO2 efflux increased and CH4 uptake decreased with N addition, while NO emissions significantly rose, particularly at higher N levels.
  • A threshold was identified at 40 kg N ha, beyond which NO emission rates did not increase as significantly, suggesting future N deposition could disrupt carbon sequestration and potentially worsen climate warming.

Background: Literatures have confirmed role of inflammatory mediators like interleukin-2 (IL-2) in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). microRNA-26a (miR-26a) is involved in variety of signaling pathways and functions as tumor suppressor and regulating the responsible genes at posttranscriptional level. The aim of study was to study the correlation of IL-2 and miR-26a in lung cancer (LC) cells.

Nine compounds including a new A-type proanthocyanidin trimer, epicatechin-(2β→O→7,4β→8)-[catechin-(6→4β)]-epicatechin (8), and a known trimer, epicatechin-(4β→8)-epicatechin-(2β→O→7,4β→8)-catechin (9), being reported for peanut skin for the first time, were isolated and purified. Their structures were determined by spectroscopic methods and by degradation reactions with L-cysteine in acidic conditions. The DPPH radical scavenging activity and the inhibitory activity on maltase and sucrase of the isolated compounds were investigated.

Residents aged 55 years or older from 27 communities and two settlements in Xilingol League of Inner Mongolia were selected for participation in an Alzheimer's disease epidemiological investigation from June 2008 to June 2009, including 3 259 Mongolians and 5 887 Han Chinese. The Mongolian subjects in the Alzheimer's disease group were at age of 55 years or older (on average), and more of them were male, illiterate and/or had a history of coronary artery disease and/or diabetes compared with the Mongolian subjects in the non-Alzheimer's disease group. The Han Chinese subjects in the Alzheimer's disease group were at age of 55 years or older (on average) and more of them were women, illiterate and/or had a history of coronary artery disease, and less of them had a history of alcohol consumption compared with the non-Alzheimer's disease group.

Potassium permanganate titration and complexometry were used to determine the content of tannin in different growth phase of wild and cultivated Cynomorium songaricum Rupr. The result showed that the content appeared regularly changing and the content in coming-up phase was higher than other phases. The quality in this phase would be better if the tannin was regarded as one of the effective components.

Two partial least squares methods, classical partial least squares (PLS) and partial least squares based on a kernel algorithm (KPLS), were studied for simultaneous determination of a three-component mixture. Three programs called SPGRAFA, SPGRPLS and SPGRKPLS were designed to perform the calculations. Eight error functions were calculated for deducing the number of factors.

This paper presents a novel method, named wavelet packet transform based multilayer feedforward neural network with Levenberg-Marquardt and back propagation algorithm (WPTLMBP), developed for simultaneous kinetic determination of Cu(II), Fe(III), and Ni(II). Wavelet packet representations of signals provided a local time-frequency description, thus in the wavelet packet domain the quality of noise removal can be improved. The artificial neural network was applied for non-linear multivariate calibration.
