Reclamation of rare earths from secondary sources is in line with both environmental remediation and sustainable utilization of rare earth resources. Herein, neodymium Nd(III) imprinted polyethylene glycol-polyvinyl alcohol hybrid membrane (IIP-CS-PEG-PVA) with high selectivity, increased specific surface area, acid stability and easy recyclability was constructed using chitosan (CS) as functional monomer, polyethylene glycol (PEG) as porogenic agent, polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) as filmogen, and Nd(III) as template ion. Batch adsorption indicates, adsorption of IIP-CS-PEG-PVA for Nd(III) is induced by electrostatic interaction, reaching rapid equilibration in 35 min at pH = 5.

Effect of Microalloying Rare-Earth Nd on Microstructure Evolution and Mechanical Property of Cu Alloy.

State Key Laboratory of Nonlinear Mechanics (LNM), Institute of Mechanics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing 100190, China.

Cu alloys have been widely used in the manufacture of liners because of their high density, good plasticity, and excellent thermal conductivity. In order to achieve excellent jet stability and penetration performance, it is necessary to further improve the mechanical properties of Cu-based liners. Nevertheless, the simultaneous enhancement of strength and ductility of the Cu alloys remains a huge challenge due to the strength-ductility trade-off phenomenon of metals/alloys.

Long-term bisphosphonate therapy is associated with atypical or insufficiency fractures, particularly in the proximal femur. We observed a case of an atypical femoral shaft fracture in a patient with a long-term history of alendronate therapy. A 36-year-old woman was admitted with a complaint of pain in her right mid-thigh following low-energy trauma.

To understand the microbial diversity and community composition within the main constructive tree species, Picea crassifolia, Betula platyphylla, and Pinus tabuliformis, in Helan Mountain and their response to changes in soil physicochemical factors, a high throughput sequencing technology was used to analyze the bacterial and fungal diversity and community structure. RDA (Redundancy Analysis) and Pearson correlation analysis were used to explore the influence of soil physicochemical factors on microbial community construction, and co-occurrence network analysis was conducted on the microbial communities. The results showed that the fungal and bacterial diversity was highest in B.

Background: Colorectal cancer (CRC) ranks among the most aggressive types of cancer globally. Currently, clinical tumor prognostic biomarkers still lack accuracy. Mitotic spindle positioning (MISP) protein connects microtubules to the actin cytoskeleton and adhesive plaques, playing a critical role in spindle positioning, orientation, and the process of cell division.

In the background of severe water pollution, adsorption is a charming technique for heavy metal remediation. In this work, NiFeO decorated chitosan-graphene oxide (NFCG) was prepared by simple hydrothermal method for Co(II) remediation application. Adsorption mechanism was elaborately elucidated based on multiple evidences extracted from adsorption fitting (isotherms, thermodynamics and kinetics), spectroscopic test (XPS, UV-Vis absorption, fluorescent emission and Raman spectra) and the hard-soft acid-base (HSAB) theory inspection.

Structural design and optimization, simulated photoelectron spectroscopy, electronic properties and chemical bond analysis of CuASi(A = Sc, Cu, x ≤ 13) clusters were systematically studied using the PBE scheme to integrate with global search program of ABCluster. Firstly, neutral MS (the most stable structures) of CuASi of the basic 1 + 5 + 1 structures (1 metal + 5 silicons + 1 metal atoms) can be found as the basic units for assembling more lager clusters under the condition of neglecting distortions and minor changes. If the Cu atoms in CuSi(x ≤ 13) systems was replaced by one Sc atom, the geometries of MS will be reconstructed.

Effect of Adding Benzyl Alcohol on Hydrogen Production from Lignite.

Appl Biochem Biotechnol

October 2024

School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Inner Mongolia University of Science and Technology, Baotou, 014010, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, PR China.

Combustion power generation is still the main way of lignite utilization, but lignite combustion will produce a lot of toxic gases, so how to make lignite clean utilization has become an urgent problem to be solved. Hydrogen is an environmentally friendly, zero-carbon emission clean energy because microorganisms can degrade brown coal to produce hydrogen. Therefore, in this experiment, the anaerobic hydrogen production experiment of lignite was carried out, and the influence of different concentrations of benzyl alcohol on hydrogen production of lignite was studied.

Supercurrent and Superconducting Diode Effect in Parallel Double Quantum Dots with Rashba Spin-Orbit Interaction.

Materials (Basel)

September 2024

School of Electronic and Information Engineering, UEST of China, Zhongshan Institute, Zhongshan 528400, China.

We study theoretically the supercurrent and the superconducting diode effect (SDE) in a structure comprising parallel-coupled double quantum dots (DQDs) sandwiched between two superconductor leads in the presence of a magnetic flux. The influence of the Rashba spin-orbit interaction (RSOI), which induces a spin-dependent phase factor in the dot-superconductor coupling strength, is taken into account by adopting the nonequilibrium Green's function technique. This RSOI-induced phase factor serves as a driving force for the supercurrent in addition to the usual superconducting phase difference, and it leads to the system's left/right asymmetry.

A reactive crystallization method for the synthesis of lanthanum hydroxychloride (La(OH)Cl) was developed to provide a new low-carbon route for the purification of rare earth elements in hydrometallurgy. The synthetic method reported herein represents a unique low-temperature route, short preparation time and inexpensive materials compared with previous methods, thus making it promising for industrial applications. The key factors controlling the product's phase were determined using single factor tests involving temperature, concentration of NHCl in the base solution and the molar ratio of NHOH/La added per minute into the base solution.

Distribution rules of 8-mer spectra and characterization of evolution state in animal genome sequences.

BMC Genomics

September 2024

Laboratory of Theoretical Biophysics, School of Physical Science and Technology, Inner Mongolia University, Hohhot, 010021, China.

Background: Studying the composition rules and evolution mechanisms of genome sequences are core issues in the post-genomic era, and k-mer spectrum analysis of genome sequences is an effective means to solve this problem.

Result: We divided total 8-mers of genome sequences into 16 kinds of XY-type due to XY dinucleotides number in 8-mers. Previous works explored that the independent unimodal distributions observed only in three CG-type 8-mer spectra, while non-CG type 8-mer spectra have not the universal phenomenon from prokaryotes to eukaryotes.

In order to explore the formation mechanism and influencing factors of the temperature difference between two ends of the plate stack, an expression of the temperature change of the stack with time was established based on the two-dimensional heat conduction equation. Based on this, the finite element model of heat transfer between a single thermoacoustic plate stack and the gas above it is established in Ansys, and the temperature of the plate stack is solved. When the sound field is constant, the variation law of the temperature of the stack with the working time and space is obtained, and the formation mechanism of the temperature difference between the two ends of the plate stack is revealed.
