Department of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine, Beijing Institute of Respiratory Medicine, Beijing Chao-Yang Hospital, Capital Medical University, Beijing 100020, China.

Background: The incidence of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) complicated with invasive pulmonary aspergillosis (IPA) has increased in the last two decades. The mechanism underpinning susceptibility to and high mortality of COPD complicated with IPA is unclear, and the role of T helper cells 17 (Th17 cells) in the compound disease remains unknown. Therefore, this study aimed to assess the function of Th17 cells in COPD combined with IPA.

Currently, symbiotic rhizobia (sl., rhizobium) refer to the soil bacteria in α- and β-Proteobacteria that can induce root and/or stem nodules on some legumes and a few of nonlegumes. In the nodules, rhizobia convert the inert dinitrogen gas (N ) into ammonia (NH ) and supply them as nitrogen nutrient to the host plant.

A series of novel synthetic substituted benzo[d]oxazole-based derivatives (-) exerted neuroprotective effects on β-amyloid (Aβ)-induced PC12 cells as a potential approach for the treatment of Alzheimer's disease (AD). In vitro studies show that most of the synthesized compounds were potent in reducing the neurotoxicity of Aβ-induced PC12 cells at 5 μg/mL. We found that compound was non-neurotoxic at 30 μg/mL and significantly increased the viability of Aβ-induced PC12 cells at 1.

Background: Whether routine lymph node dissection for early endometrial cancer is beneficial to survival is still controversial. However, surgeons usually perform lymph node dissection on all patients with early endometrial cancer. This study aimed to prove that the risk of lymph node metastasis, as defined by our standard, is very low in such patients and may change the current surgical practice.

Increasing evidences suggest that angiotensin (Ang) II participates in the pathogenesis of endothelial dysfunction (ED) through multiple signaling pathways, including angiotensin type 1 receptor (ATR) mediated NADPH oxidase (Nox)/reactive oxygen species (ROS) signal transduction. However, the detailed mechanism is not completely understood. In this study, we reported that AngII/ATR-mediated activated protein phosphatase 2A (PP2A) downregulated endothelial nitric oxide synthase (eNOS) phosphorylation Nox/ROS pathway.

Center for Stem Cell and Regenerative Medicine, The First Affiliated Hospital, Zhejiang University School of Medicine, Hangzhou, People's Republic of China.

Nutrient stress is the most important environmental stress that limits plant growth and development. Although recent evidence highlights the vital functions of long non-coding RNAs (lncRNA) in response to single nutrient stress in some model plants, a comprehensive investigation of the effect of lncRNAs in response to nutrient stress has not been performed in Arabidopsis thaliana. Here, we presented the identification and characterization of lncRNAs under seven nutrient stress conditions.

Sci Rep

October 2020

College of Animal Science and Technology, Inner Mongolia University for the Nationalities, 536 West Huolinhe Street, Tongliao, 028000, Inner Mongolia, People's Republic of China.

The present study aimed to evaluate the effects of C-type natriuretic peptide (CNP) on meiotic arrest and developmental competence of bovine oocyte derived from follicles of different sizes. Collected immature cumulus-oocyte complexes from small follicles (< 3 mm) and medium follicles (3-8 mm) were cultured for 6 h in basal medium supplementated without or with 200 nM CNP. We observed that CNP effectively sustained meiotic arrest at germinal vesicle stage in in vitro cultured bovine oocytes from follicles of different sizes.

March 2021

Inner Mongolia Key Laboratory of Toxicant Monitoring and Toxicology, Collage of Animal Science and Technology, Inner Mongolia University for Nationalities, Tongliao, China.

Medicinal plants of the genus Aconitum are one of the most commonly used herbs in traditional medicine in East Asia to treat conditions related to the heart, pain, or inflammation. However, these herbs are also dangerous as accidental poisoning due to misuse is a recurring issue. These plants contain a number of diester-diterpenoid alkaloid compounds and aconitine is the most abundant and active one.

In this work, a dual-functional SERS platform was developed via a paper-based SERS substrate with the aid of hydrophobic polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) for effective and reliable measurements of thiram on fruit surfaces and in juice. Specifically, the paper-based SERS substrate was fabricated by coating with a core-shell Au@Ag nanorod monolayer, and the SERS performance was optimized compared with multilayer adsorption. Moreover, a versatile SERS platform was constructed by simply pasting the paper-based substrate in reverse onto PDMS using polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) tape.

Wine has always been a popular carrier for psychedelic drugs, with the rapid identification and quantification of psychedelic drugs in wine being the focus of regulating illegal behavior. In this study, surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) is used for the rapid detection of Flibanserin in liquor, beer and grape wine. First, the theoretical Raman spectrum with characteristic Flibanserin peaks was calculated and identified, and the limit of detection of 1 μg mL-1 for Flibanserin in liquor was determined.

September 2020

College of Food Science and Pharmacy, Xinjiang Agricultural University, Urumqi 830052, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, China.

Physiological variation and adaptation of the long-term evolved rhizobia to alkaline environments where no host plant existence and the stability of their symbiotic properties when they are reinoculated to legume host remain unclear. A highly effective N-fixing Rhizobium yanglingense strain CCBAU 01603 was used as the ancestral strain and was cultured continuously with/without addition of extra alkaline reagent (KOH) in laboratory conditions for approximately 500 generations. Total 60 evolved clones obtained were checked for their adaptation to higher alkaline pH level and inoculated to their host plant Caragana microphylla to evaluate their symbiotic efficiencies.
