In recent years, research on self-compacting concrete (SCC) has gradually shifted towards high-strength development, while high-strength self-compacting concrete has been widely used in applications such as precast bridge components and high-rise building projects. Using manufactured sand as an aggregate can effectively address the challenges posed by the depletion of natural sand resources. This study optimized the mix design for high-strength self-compacting concrete with manufactured sand (MSH-SCC) and explored the effects of the fine aggregate replacement rate, sand ratio, and maximum particle size of coarse aggregate on the performance of MSH-SCC.

As in most countries, the Republic of China's development of amateur radio benefited from the appeal of the amateur radio medium as well as characteristics of its technology, and it was also impacted by external factors such as war. Against a background of tradition, newly formed, but extremely strong, popular scientific beliefs fueled conflicts between state power and folk forces which played a key role in China's amateur radio development. In this study we will explore the tensions between the Chinese government's concerns for national security and distrust of folk radio research, and the rising, public demand for amateur radio.

To provide the theoretical basis for the engineering application of metakaolin as aluminum-rich pozzolanic ash materials, the promoting effect of metakaolin on the macro- and micro-mechanical properties of composite cement-based composite materials was explored under high-temperature steam and standard curing conditions. Analysis techniques, which involved thermogravimetric and nanoindentation coupled with scanning electron microscopy-energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, were used. To analyze the experimental data, the ACI empirical formula and the copula function were used.

In this paper, the influence of the substitution rate of metakaolin (MK) and ultrafine fly ash (UFA) on the hydration degree, the micromechanical properties, the pore size distribution, and the corresponding fractal dimension of composite cement-based material was investigated under high-temperature steam curing. Furthermore, Thermogravimetric, Nanoindentation, and low-field nuclear magnetic resonance tests were used to explore the influencing factors of pore size distribution and its corresponding multi-fractal dimension. Finally, the correlations among the pore size distribution, related fractal dimensions, and compression strength were analyzed.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFAlkali stress limits plant growth and yield more strongly than salt stress and can lead to the appearance of yellow leaves; however, the reasons remain unclear. In this study, we found that (1) the down-regulation of coproporphyrinogen III oxidase, protoporphyrinogen oxidase, and Pheophorbide a oxygenase in oats under alkali stress contributes to the appearance of yellow leaves (as assessed by proteome and western blot analyses). (2) Some oat proteins that are involved in the antioxidant system, root growth, and jasmonic acid (JA) and indole-3-acetic acid (IAA) synthesis are up-regulated in response to alkalinity and help increase alkali tolerance.

A novel Cu-Pd-TNPs (Copper-Palladium-TiO Nanopores) polymetallic nanoelectrode was fabricated, and then used to catalytically reduce dissolved nitrate in groundwater. The aim was to develop a high efficient nanoelectrode for removing nitrate from groundwater. The Cu-Pd-TNPs polymetallic nanoelectrode was fabricated by plating Pd onto a TiO nanoporous matrix and then plating Cu onto the layer which is previous coating.
