Sepsis is a severe, potentially fatal condition defined by organ dysfunction due to excessive inflammation. Its complex pathogenesis and poor therapeutic outcomes pose significant challenges in treatment. Macrophages, with their high heterogeneity and plasticity, play crucial roles in both the innate and adaptive immune systems.

Background: Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and Positron Emission Tomography (PET) stand as pivotal diagnostic tools for brain disorders, offering the potential for mutually enriching disease diagnostic perspectives. However, the costs associated with PET scans and the inherent radioactivity have limited the widespread application of PET. Furthermore, it is noteworthy to highlight the promising potential of high-field and ultra-high-field neuroimaging in cognitive neuroscience research and clinical practice.

Background: Circular RNAs (circRNAs) are involved in the progression of osteoporosis; however, their impact on osteogenic differentiation has yet to be fully elucidated. In this study, we identified a novel circRNA known as circZfp644-205 and investigated its effect on osteogenic differentiation and apoptosis in osteoporosis.
Methods: CircZfp644-205, miR-445-3p, and SMAD2 levels were measured using quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR).

Background: Immunoglobulin superfamily member 8, or IGSF8, is a member of the recently identified immunoglobulin family of proteins. It is mostly produced on cell membranes and has a unique transmembrane structure. It has recently been demonstrated that there is a strong correlation between the expression variation of IGSF8 and the growth of gliomas.

The objective is to report our experience of transarterial embolization of sinus dural arteriovenous fistula (DAVF) using non-adhesive liquid embolic material. In 3 cases of Borden type II sinus DAVFs, a Copernic balloon was used to protect sagittal sinus in one patient, palliative Onyx embolization was performed to protect transverse sinus in one patient and EVAL/DMSO/ethanol mixture (EVAL, SUCCESS, Shandong, China) was used in the last patient. Two Borden type II DAVFs were changed into type I DAVF and one was cured.

Aims: The purpose of this study is to investigate the global epidemiological characteristics of lower respiratory infections (LRI) burden attributable to respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) from 1990 to 2019.
Materials And Methods: We used the recent Global Burden of Disease Study (GBD) 2019 to systematically evaluate the current burden and temporal trend of LRI burden attributable to RSV by global, age, sex, geographic location, and socio-economic status.
Results: Globally, the disability-adjusted life years (DALYs) cases of LRI attributable to RSV dropped from an estimated 39,964,488 [95% uncertainty interval (UI): 16,825, 572 to 68,800,553] in 1990 to 14,956,514 (95%UI: 6,271,751 to 25,910,753) in 2019 and estimated death cases droped from 541,172 (95%UI:226,614 to 958,596) to 338,495 (95%UI:126,555 to 667,109) from1990 to 2019.

Rare diseases are diseases that occur at low prevalence, and most of them are chronic and serious diseases that are often life-threatening. Currently, there is no unified definition for rare diseases. The diagnosis, treatment, and research of rare diseases have become the focus of medicine and biopharmacology, as well as the breakthrough point of clinical and basic research.

Background: Symptomatic pseudarthrosis and cage migration/protrusion are difficult complications of transforaminal or posterior lumbar interbody fusion (TLIF/PLIF). If the patient experiences severe radicular symptoms due to cage protrusion, removal of the migrated cage is necessary. However, this procedure is sometimes very challenging because epidural adhesions and fibrous union can be present between the cage and vertebrae.

Purpose: DNA nanostructures, with the advantages of structural designability and spatial addressability, have shown a great potential in the field of drug delivery and bio-medicine. Herein, we aimed to prepare technetium-99m radiolabeled DNA cube nanoparticles (Tc-DCN) and expect to build a DCN-based drug carrier and nuclear medicine imaging platform.
Methods: DCN could be readily assembled with 6 designed DNA oligonucleotides at an equal mole ratio in a single annealing procedure.

Background: The WNT signaling pathway is involved in the regulation of bone homeostasis, and the effect of WNT signaling pathway-related gene ( and ) polymorphisms on osteoporosis risk among Chinese postmenopausal women is still unknown. Hence, we performed a case-control study to assess the association of WNT signaling pathway-related gene polymorphisms and osteoporosis risk.
Methods: A total of 1026 women (515 osteoporosis patients and 511 controls) of postmenopausal age who were randomly sampled from Xi'an 630 Hospital (Shaanxi Province, China) were involved in this study.

MicroRNAs (miRNAs) in the let-7 family have established regulatory roles in pregnancy; in this study, we evaluated whether miRNAs detectable in the circulation are associated with the ovarian response to stimulation. In total, 25 patients with infertility were divided into 3 groups: poor response (n = 9), moderate response (n = 8), and hyper-response (n = 8). Serum and endometrial tissue samples on the second day of the menstrual phase, serum samples during the mid-luteal phase, and follicular fluid samples were collected from women undergoing in vitro fertilization.

Background: At present, the early diagnosis of femoral head necrosis mainly relies on Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and most early patients are difficult to make an accurate diagnosis. Therefore, to investigate the early diagnostic value of Tc-Cys-Annexin V Single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) imaging were compared with MRI in rabbit models of steroid-induced femoral head necrosis.
Methods: The animal model of steroid-induced femoral head necrosis (SIFHN) was established in 5-month-old healthy New Zealand white rabbits by injecting horse serum into ear vein and methylprednisolone into gluteal muscle, the purpose of modeling is to simulate the actual clinical situation of SIFNH.

Glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) is a highly proliferative and locally invasive cancer with poor prognosis and a high recurrence rate. Although anti-VEGF (vascular endothelial growth factor) therapy offers short-term benefit to GBM patients, this approach fails as the tumor develops into a more invasive and drug-resistant phenotype and ultimately recurs. Recently, both glioma stemlike cells (GSCs) and brain tumor-initiating cells (BTICs) have been implicated in GBM recurrence and its resistance to therapy.

Objective: Glucose metabolism and ranges of ischemic cardiomyocytes in model rats under fasting or feeding were compared by F-FDG PET/CT, respectively, to investigate the changes of glucose metabolism after myocardial reperfusion, and to determine time window of myocardial "ischemic memory" under feeding.
Methods: The ischemic-reperfusion model rats were established by ligating the left anterior descending coronary artery of rats. In fasting-feeding experiment, long-ischemia rats (n = 10) under fasting or feeding were subjected to F-FDG PET/CT at 24 h after modeling.
