Bradykinin-induced blood-tumor barrier opening is mediated by tumor necrosis factor-alpha.

Neurosci Lett

January 2009

Department of physiology, College of Basic Medical Sciences, Inner Mongolia Medical College, Huhehaote 010059, Inner Mongolia Municipality, PR China.

Bradykinin has been shown to increase the permeability of blood-tumor barrier (BTB) selectively. This study was performed to determine whether tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-alpha) was involved in the regulation of this biological process. We found that the levels of TNF-alpha mRNA and heat shock factor-1 (HSF1) protein in C6 cells were markedly up-regulated by bradykinin via real-time RT-PCR and Western blot methods.

Objective: To observe the effect of electro-warmed needle (EWN, of Inner-Mongolian medicine) on fatigue rats' behavior, hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenocortex (HPA) axis activity and immune system so as to reveal its neuro-endocrino-immune mechanism.

Methods: Male SD rats were randomized into control (n=20), model (n=20) and EWN (n=19) groups. Fatigue model was established by forcing the rat to swim in a water pool till exhaustion, once daily, continuously for 21 days.

Objective: To evaluate the antibacterial activity of Ciprofloxacin, Amikacin in combination with beta-lactams against Pseudomonas aeruginosa strains in vitro, to optimize treatment regime for antibiotics on the basis of pharmacokinetics (PK)/pharmacodynamics (PD) and drug sensitivity tests. Methods With checkerboard titration method, the minimal inhibitory concentrations (MIC) of a combination of antibiotics in different concentrations for 33 clinically isolated Pseudomonas aeruginosa strains were determined by broth dilution. Fractional inhibitory concentrations (FIC) were calculated for judging synergic effect of antibiotics.

Inappropriate platelet activation is the key point of thrombogenesis. The aim of the present study was to investigate the effects of resveratrol (RESV), a compound extracted from the Chinese medicinal herb Polygonum cuspidatum sieb et Zucc, on the platelet activation induced by adenosine diphosphate (ADP) and its possible mechanism. The percentage of platelet aggregation and surface P-selectin-positive platelets, and the activity of protein kinase C (PKC) of platelet were observed with platelet aggregometer, flow cytometry and phosphorimaging system, respectively.

In the present study, DNA typing for human leucocyte antigen (HLA)-DPB1, -DRB1, and -DQB1 was performed using polymerase chain reaction-sequence-based-typing (PCR-SBT) method on 94 randomly selected, healthy, unrelated individuals from the Ewenki ethnic population in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region of China. A total of 64 alleles: 25 in DRB1, 19 in DQB1 and 20 in DPB1, were found. Among the 25 detected DRB1 alleles, DRB1*090102, DRB1*030101, DRB1*040101, DRB1*070101, and DRB1*120101/1206 were commonly observed, with frequencies of 16.

Yao Xue Xue Bao

July 2007

Department of Pharmaceutics, Affiliated Hospital, Inner Mongolia Medical College, Hohhot 010059, China.

The pharmacodynamics of prostaglandin E1 (PGE1) administered by different routes to rats was investigated in this paper. The hypotensive effect of PGE, was used as an index of drug efficacy, pharmacodynamic parameters such as time to reach peak effect (Tmax), maximal percentage of blood pressure decrease (Emax, %), duration of effect (Td), and the area under the blood pressure decrease percent-time curves (AUC, % x min) were determined after PGE1 given to rats intranasally, sublingually, intraperitoneally (ip), and intramuscularly (im), separately, and compared with those obtained from intravenous (iv) administration. Similar to iv route, the pharmacodynamic parameters of PGE1 from the other administration routes, Emax, Td and in particular AUC values were all increased with increasing doses, showing dose-efficacy relationship.

Aim: Both hypoxia inducible factor 1 (HIF-1) and basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF) play important roles in tumour angiogenesis. This study was designed to clarify the cooperative effect of these two mediators in induction of vascular endothelial cell growth factor (VEGF) release from breast cancer and probe possible mechanisms involved.

Methods: Release of VEGF from a breast cancer cell line (T47D) was quantitated by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA).

April 2007

Department of Hematology, Affiliated Hospital, Inner Mongolia Medical College, Huhhot 010059, China.

This study was purposed to investigate the relationship of expressions of gluthatione-S-transferase-pi (GST-pi), multidrug resistance protein-1 (MRP-1), lung resistance protein (LRP) with multidrug resistance of acute leukemia (AL), the correlation between 3 kinds protein expressions and the correlation of their protein expression with clinical features of AL patients. The S-P immunohistochemical staining method was used to determine the expressions of GST-pi, MRP1 and LRP proteins in 80 AL patients and 30 normal subjects. The results showed that there was the correlation between GST-pi, MRP1, LRP protein expression and chemotherapy resistance, meanwhile CR rates of patients with positive expression of those proteins were lower than that of patients with negative expression (P<0.

We have studied the effect of sodium acetate exposure on the viability and proliferative activity of cultured human gastric adenocarcinoma epithelial (AGS) cells and changes in the release of proinflammatory cytokines. We evaluated the levels of IL-6, TNF-alpha, IL-8, and IL-1beta in cell culture supernatants using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays, and cytokine mRNA levels were measured in whole cells using reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction. We also measured cytokine levels in mice using immunohistochemistry.
