Background: Breast cancer represents the second most deadly malignancy in women, and long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) have crucial functions in its development.
Objective: To investigate effects of the promoter of antisense DNA damage-activated RNA () on epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) in breast cancer cells and their proliferation.
Methods: lncRNAs potentially regulating the transcriptional activity of the E-cadherin (E-cad, an epithelial cell marker) gene promoter were screened using a dual-luciferase reporter assay.

Colon cancer is a complex, heterogeneous disease. The Colorectal Cancer Subtyping Consortium reported a novel classification system for colon cancer in 2015 to better understand its heterogeneity. This molecular classification system divided colon cancer into four distinct consensus molecular subtypes (CMS 1, 2, 3, and 4).

The acquisition of cancer stem-like properties is believed to be responsible for cancer metastasis and therapeutic resistance in cervical cancer (CC). CC tissues display a high expression level of hexokinase 2 (HK2), which is critical for the proliferation and migration of CC cells. However, little is known about the functional role of HK2 in the maintenance of cancer stem cell-like ability and cisplatin resistance of CC cells.

Cervical cancer is one of the most common gynecological cancers. Cisplatin resistance remains a major hurdle in the successful treatment of cervical cancer. Aberrant expression of long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) and microRNAs (miRNAs) are implicated in cisplatin resistance.

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is among the most common and lethal form of cancer worldwide. However, its diagnosis and treatment are still dissatisfactory, due to limitations in the understanding of its pathogenic mechanism. Therefore, it is important to elucidate the molecular mechanisms and identify novel therapeutic targets for HCC.

Background: Activated epidermal growth factor receptor () mutation is the main pathogenic cause of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) in Asia. However, the impact of plasma mutation abundance, especially of the ultra-low abundance of mutation detected by highly sensitive techniques on clinical outcomes of first-line EGFR tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs) for advanced NSCLC patients remains unclear.
Methods: We qualitatively detected baseline status of NSCLC tissues using amplification-refractory mutation system and quantified the plasma abundance of mutations through next-generation sequencing (NGS).

The deregulation of long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) by epigenetic alterations has been implicated in cancer initiation and progression. However, the epigenetically regulated lncRNAs and their association with clinical outcome and therapeutic response in ovarian cancer (OV) remain poorly investigated. This study performed an integrative analysis of DNA methylation data and transcriptome data and identified 419 lncRNAs as potential epigenetically regulated lncRNAs.

This study aims to evaluate the association between passive smoking and high-grade squamous intraepithelial lesion (HSIL) at the sample of Chinese women. We conducted a case-control study to analyze the effect of passive smoking on the incidence that patients diagnosed with HSIL. The participants had undergone cervical cancer screening by cytology and human papillomavirus (HPV) co-testing within a year before the study.

Purpose: To observe the mechanism of the effects of Apatinib on the proliferation and apoptosis of human gastric cancer (HGC-27) cells via the phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase (PI3K)/protein kinase B (Akt) signaling pathway through in vitro cytology experiments.
Methods: The human gastric cancer HGC-27 cell line was taken as the research object, and LY294002, an inhibitor of the PI3K/Akt signaling pathway, as the positive control. The experimental methods are as follows: (1) The proliferation of HGC-27 cells inhibited by Apatinib and LY294002 was observed by 3-(4,5)-dimethylthiahiazo-(z-y1)-3,5-diphenytetrazoli- umromide (MTT) assay; (2) flow cytometry was adopted to detect the apoptosis of cells after they were treated with drugs and the positive control; (3) different effects of varying concentrations of Apatinib on apoptosis-related genes and proteins, B-cell lymphoma 2 (Bcl-2), Bcl-2-associated X protein (Bax) and cysteine-aspartic acid protease (Caspase) 9, were detected via fluorescence quantitative reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR) and Western blotting (WB), and the effects of different concentrations of Apatinib on the protein expressions of PI3K, phosphorylated (p)-PI3K, Akt and p-Akt were detected by Western blotting.

Background: The electrical properties of biological tissues differ depending on their physical properties. This study aimed to explore if bioelectrical impedance (modulus and phase) would discriminate tissues relevant to resection of the posterior longitudinal ligament (PLL) in anterior cervical decompression surgery.
Methods: PLL resection via an anterior approach was performed on the C4/5 segments in six mini-pigs.

Background: Exploration of the genes with abnormal expression during the development of breast cancer is essential to provide a deeper understanding of the mechanisms involved. Transcriptome sequencing and bioinformatics analysis of invasive ductal carcinoma and paracancerous tissues from the same patient were performed to identify the key genes and signaling pathways related to breast cancer development.
Methods: Samples of breast tumor tissue and paracancerous breast tissue were obtained from 6 patients.

To reveal novel lncRNAs and explore how could lncRNA affect the ER/PR positive type breast cancer, 16 different lncRNA transcriptomes (8 breast cancer tissues and 8 normal breast tissues) were successfully sequenced. In total, 8,954 high quality lncRNAs, including 5,516 lncRNAs reported in the previous studies and 3,438 novel lncRNAs, were annotated. The highest expressed lncRNAs were MALAT1, SCARNA10, RP11-206M11.

Gemcitabine (GEMZ) is the first-line therapy used against non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), and studies have focused on investigating the potential effects of agents combined with GEMZ to enhance the anticancer efficacy in NSCLC. Previous studies have reported that trichosanthin (TCS) has various physiological and pharmacological effects, including anti-human influenza virus enzymes, inhibition of protein synthesis and antitumor activity. The purpose of the present study was to investigate if TCS enhanced the antitumor effects of GEMZ in NSCLC.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness and toxicities of three-dimensional conformal radiation therapy (3DCRT), intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT), and volumetric-modulated arc therapy (VMAT) in patients with cervical esophageal cancer. Specifically, we asked whether technological advances conferred an advantage with respect to the clinical curative effect. Seventy-eight patients with cervical esophageal cancer treated with definitive radiotherapy with or without concomitant chemotherapy at our institution between 2007 and 2014 were enrolled in the study: 26 received 3DCRT, 30 were treated with IMRT, and 22 underwent VMAT.
