Objectives: Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is a common sleep-related breathing disorder, yet many cases remain undiagnosed. The STOP-Bang questionnaire was developed to identify individuals at high risk of OSA. We aimed to investigate the prevalence of individuals with suspected OSA using the STOP-Bang risk stratification in the general population of South Korea.

Clinical Aspects of Chronic Idiopathic Postnasal Drip: An Entity Not to Be Overlooked.

Background/aim: Postnasal drip may be related to several diseases, but not all patients are clearly diagnosed. Patients with chronic, idiopathic postnasal drip symptoms are easily overlooked, and their clinical features are yet to be identified. This study aimed to analyze the clinical features and response to first generation antihistamine-decongestant therapy in patients with chronic idiopathic postnasal drip, suggesting it as a distinct entity.

Serial Change in Patellar Height after Tension Band Wiring of Patellar Fractures.

Patella baja is a common complication after operative treatment for patellar fracture. This study aimed to investigate (1) the serial changes in patellar height and (2) the potential predictive factors for patellar height changes after tension band wiring (TBW) for patellar fractures. Forty-one patients who underwent TBW for patellar fracture between March 2019 and September 2022 were enrolled.

Factors influencing the decision-making process in breast reconstruction from the perspective of reconstructive surgeons: A qualitative study involving Korean plastic surgeons.

Background: Little research has been conducted on factors influencing the decision-making process for immediate breast reconstruction (IBR) options from the perspective of reconstructive surgeons, despite its significant impact on doctor-patient communication and shared decision-making. This study aims to explore the multiple factors and the mechanisms by which they interact using a qualitative methodology. We also address potential barriers to shared decision-making in IBR.

Selective internal limiting membrane peeling for prevention of secondary epiretinal membrane after vitrectomy for rhegmatogenous retinal detachment.

Purpose: We introduce selective internal limiting membrane (ILM) peeling, a guideline procedure to determine whether to remove the ILM during vitrectomy for rhegmatogenous retinal detachment (RRD).

Study Design: Retrospective case series METHODS: Patients who underwent pars plana vitrectomy for RRD and were followed up for 12 months or longer were included. When vitreous cortex remnants (VCRs) were detected with triamcinolone acetonide, the ILM was removed; otherwise, the ILM was preserved ("selective ILM peeling").

Aerobic Exercise Improves Radiation Therapy Efficacy in Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer: Preclinical Study Using a Xenograft Mouse Model.

The "oxygen effect" improves radiation efficacy; thus, tumor cell oxygen concentration is a crucial factor for improving lung cancer treatment. In the current study, we aimed to identify aerobic exercise-induced changes in oxygen concentrations in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) cells. To this end, an NSCLC xenograft mouse model was established using human A549 cells.

Treatment Outcomes of Olfactory Neuroblastoma: A Multicenter Study by the Korean Sinonasal Tumor and Skull Base Surgery Study Group.

Objectives: Due to the rarity of olfactory neuroblastoma (ONB), there is ongoing debate about optimal treatment strategies, especially for early-stage or locally advanced cases. Therefore, our study aimed to explore experiences from multiple centers to identify factors that influence the oncological outcomes of ONB.

Methods: We retrospectively analyzed 195 ONB patients treated at nine tertiary hospitals in South Korea between December 1992 and December 2019.

No differences in long-term clinical outcomes and survival rate of navigation-assisted versus conventional primary mobile-bearing total knee arthroplasty: A minimum 10-year follow-up.

Purpose: This study aimed to compare long-term clinical and radiographic outcomes and survival rates between navigation-assisted (NAV) total knee arthroplasty (TKA) and conventional (CON) TKA using a mobile-bearing insert.

Methods: From May 2008 to December 2009, 45 and 63 mobile-bearing TKA patients were enroled in the CON- and NAV-TKA groups with 146.8 months follow-up, respectively.

Insomnia in Postmenopausal Women: How to Approach and Treat It?

Insomnia is one of the major complaints of menopausal women with advancing age and may be complexly related to a variety of causes. However, there is still a lack of standards on the general approach and treatment for insomnia in menopausal women. The aim of this review is to summarize recent pathogenic theories of sleep disturbance in the menopausal period and discuss the approach and management of insomnia in postmenopausal women.

Since the identification of vitamin D receptors in both the female reproductive tract and the central nervous system, further data have shown that vitamin D is involved in the processes of reproductive and mental health. This paper reviews current research on the associations of vitamin D with ovarian reserve markers and depression and discusses the potential role of vitamin D in their relationships. There have been numerous studies reporting that vitamin D was significantly related to ovarian reserve markers and depression in basic or clinical research, but some observational and interventional clinical studies have shown inconsistent results.

Efficacy, Safety, and Subject Satisfaction of PrabotulinumtoxinA for Moderate-to-Severe Crow's Feet: A Phase IV, Multicenter, Double-Blind, Randomized, Placebo-Controlled Trial.

PrabotulinumtoxinA has been identified as an effective agent against crow's feet. Our study, which included Korean patients with moderate to severe crow's feet, was undertaken to compare the efficacy and safety of PrabotulinumtoxinA and placebo treatments. Of the 90 study participants, 60 received prabotulinumtoxinA (24 U), whereas 30 received a placebo.

Dyslipidemia Fact Sheet in South Korea, 2022.

Objective: This study aimed to investigate the prevalence and status of dyslipidemia management among South Korean adults, as performed by the Korean Society of Lipid and Atherosclerosis under the name Dyslipidemia Fact Sheet 2022.

Methods: We analyzed the lipid profiles, age-standardized and crude prevalence, management status of hypercholesterolemia and dyslipidemia, and health behaviors among Korean adults aged ≥20 years, using the Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey data between 2007 and 2020.

Results: In South Korea, the crude prevalence of hypercholesterolemia (total cholesterol ≥240 mg/dL or use of a lipid-lowering drug) in 2020 was 24%, and the age-standardized prevalence of hypercholesterolemia more than doubled from 2007 to 2020.

Serial change of femoral and tibial tunnel width after anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction with allograft.

Purpose: To investigate progressive tunnel widening and its correlation with postoperative outcomes after anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction using allografts.

Methods: Sixty-five patients who underwent ACL reconstruction using a tibialis anterior allograft between 2015 and 2017 were enrolled. Femoral and tibial tunnel widths were measured on anteroposterior (AP) and lateral radiographs immediately and at 3, 6, 12, and 24 months postoperatively.

Objectives: Existing literature provides limited information on the association between childhood obesity and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), which are potentially obesogenic. We examined the association between urinary concentrations of PAH metabolites and obesity in the Korean pediatric population.

Methods: We analyzed the data of 2286 children/adolescents aged 3-17 years who participated in the Korean National Environmental Health Survey between 2015 and 2017.
