Among office workers, the sedentary work-related health challenges are mainly associated with the fact that they often sit for up to 10 hr a working day. Members of the Research Group conducted a research program to assist the office workers of an international telecommunication company's affiliate in Budapest to enhance comfort levels in the office work environment. The data collection included a Comfort Survey to reveal employees' sense of comfort related to Indoor Environmental Quality (IEQ) components and the characteristics of employees' feelings and behavior during working hours.

Identification of nuclear components in the histology landscape is an important step towards developing computational pathology tools for the profiling of tumor micro-environment. Most existing methods for the identification of such components are limited in scope due to heterogeneous nature of the nuclei. Graph-based methods offer a natural way to formulate the nucleus classification problem to incorporate both appearance and geometric locations of the nuclei.

The new coronavirus disease COVID-19 has caused a worldwide pandemic to be declared in a very short period of time. The complexity of the infection lies in asymptomatic carriers that can inadvertently transmit the virus through airborne droplets. This kind of viral disease can infect the human body with tiny particles that carry various bacteria that are generated by the respiratory system of infected patients.

We argue that social computing and its diverse applications can contribute to the attainment of sustainable development goals (SDGs)-specifically to the SDGs concerning gender equality and empowerment of all women and girls, and to make cities and human settlements inclusive. To achieve the above goals for the sustainable growth of societies, it is crucial to study gender-based violence (GBV) in a smart city context, which is a common component of violence across socio-economic groups globally. This paper analyzes the nature of news articles reported in English newspapers of Pakistan, India, and the UK-accumulating 12,693 gender-based violence-related news articles.

In this paper, numerical modeling of concentration propagation using various types of barriers and trees with porosity properties in an idealized urban canyon to protect nearby houses was considered. To solve this problem, a modification of the Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes equations is used to take into account the porous medium. To validate the mathematical model and the numerical algorithm, a test problem was solved without taking into account various barriers with a source of pollution.

Ultrafast modulation of the refractive index exhibits either linear or nonlinear electro-optic (EO) effect, which is extensively utilized in tunable photonic circuits. Silicon, a mature material for on-chip devices, lacks a strong electro-optic (EO) Pockels effect. Utilization of the Pockels effect alters the intrinsic property (refractive index) of the material that manifests tunability and offers expanded functionalities.

The efficiency of traditional solar cells is constrained due to the Shockley-Queisser limit, to circumvent this theoretical limit, the concept of solar thermophotovoltaics (STPVs) has been introduced. The typical design of an STPV system consists of a wideband absorber with its front side facing the sun. The back of this absorber is physically attached to the back of a selective emitter facing a low-bandgap photovoltaic (PV) cell.

With the popularization of higher education and the promotion of college enrollment expansion, the number of college graduates increases sharply. At the same time, the continuous transformation and upgrading of the industrial structure put forward higher requirements on the employability of college students, which leads to the imbalance between supply and demand in the labor market. The key to dealing with employment difficulties lie in the improvement of college students' employability.

Routing Protocol for Low-power and Lossy Networks (RPL), the de facto standard routing protocol for the Internet of Things (IoT) administers the smooth transportation of data packets across the Wireless Sensor Network (WSN). However, the mechanism fails to address the heterogeneous nature of data packets traversing the network, as these packets may carry different classes of data with different priority statuses, some real-time (time-sensitive) while others non-real-time (delay-tolerant). The standard Objective Functions (OFs), used by RPL to create routing paths, treat all classes of data as the same, this practice is not only inefficient but results in poor network performance.

This work presents sharing studies between 5G networks and point-to-point fixed service in the 6425-7125 MHz band. In this research, we provide simulations of interference from 5G downlink and uplink to fixed service in the frequency band 6425-7125 MHz. We evaluated several scenarios of interference, which include cross-border scenarios, as well as scenarios of interference within the borders of one administration.

Nucleus detection is an important step for the analysis of histology images in the field of computational pathology. Pathologists use quantitative nuclear morphology for better cancer grading and prognostication. The nucleus detection becomes very challenging because of the large morphological variations across different types of nuclei, nuclei clutter, and heterogeneity.

Biological water contamination detection-based assays are essential to test water quality; however, these assays are prone to false-positive results and inaccuracies, are time-consuming, and use complicated procedures to test large water samples. Herein, we show a simple detection and counting method for in the water samples involving a combination of DNAzyme sensor, microfluidics, and computer vision strategies. We first isolated into individual droplets containing a DNAzyme mixture using droplet microfluidics.

In the last decade, silicon carbide (SiC) has emerged as a potential material for high-frequency electronics and optoelectronics applications that may require elevated temperature processing. SiC exists in more than 200 different crystallographic forms, referred to as polytypes. Based on their remarkable physical and electrical characteristics, such as better thermal and electrical conductivities, 3C-SiC, 4H-SiC, and 6H-SiC are considered as the most distinguished polytypes of SiC.

Across insects, wing shape and size have undergone dramatic divergence even in closely related sister groups. However, we do not know how morphology changes in tandem with kinematics to support body weight within available power and how the specific force production patterns are linked to differences in behaviour. Hawkmoths and wild silkmoths are diverse sister families with divergent wing morphology.

Do leaders who build a sense of shared social identity in their teams thereby protect them from the adverse effects of workplace stress? This is a question that the present paper explores by testing the hypothesis that identity leadership contributes to stronger team identification among employees and, through this, is associated with reduced burnout. We tested this model with unique datasets from the Global Identity Leadership Development (GILD) project with participants from all inhabited continents. We compared two datasets from 2016/2017 ( = 5290; 20 countries) and 2020/2021 ( = 7294; 28 countries) and found very similar levels of identity leadership, team identification and burnout across the five years.

The spread of COVID-19 and the lockdowns that followed led to an increase in activity on online social networks. This has resulted in users sharing unfiltered and unreliable information on social networks like WhatsApp, Twitter, Facebook, etc. In this work, we give an extended overview of how Pakistan's population used public WhatsApp groups for sharing information related to the pandemic.

This paper presents a systematic and efficient design approach for the two degree-of-freedom (2-DoF) capacitive microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) accelerometer by using combined design and analysis of computer experiments (DACE) and Gaussian process (GP) modelling. Multiple output responses of the MEMS accelerometer including natural frequency, proof mass displacement, pull-in voltage, capacitance change, and Brownian noise equivalent acceleration (BNEA) are optimized simultaneously with respect to the geometric design parameters, environmental conditions, and microfabrication process constraints. The sampling design space is created using DACE based Latin hypercube sampling (LHS) technique and corresponding output responses are obtained using multiphysics coupled field electro-thermal-structural interaction based finite element method (FEM) simulations.

COVID-19 is the disease evoked by a new breed of coronavirus called the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). Recently, COVID-19 has become a pandemic by infecting more than 152 million people in over 216 countries and territories. The exponential increase in the number of infections has rendered traditional diagnosis techniques inefficient.

The evolution of flapping flight is linked to the prolific success of insects. Across Insecta, wing morphology diversified, strongly impacting aerodynamic performance. In the presence of ecological opportunity, discrete adaptive shifts and early bursts are two processes hypothesized to give rise to exceptional morphological diversification.
