Background: Lysyl oxidase-like 2 (LOXL2) is a metalloenzyme that catalyzes oxidative deamination ε-amino group of lysine. It has been found that LOXL2 is a promotor for the metastasis and invasion in kinds of tumors. Previous studies show that disulfide bonds are important components in LOXL2, and their bioactivity can be regulated by those bonds.

Failure to predict stroke promptly may lead to delayed treatment, causing severe consequences like permanent neurological damage or death. Early detection using deep learning (DL) and machine learning (ML) models can enhance patient outcomes and mitigate the long-term effects of strokes. The aim of this study is to compare these models, exploring their efficacy in predicting stroke.

In a letter critiquing our manuscript, Takefuji highlights general pitfalls in machine learning, without directly engaging with our study. The comments provide generic advice rather than a specific critique of our methods or findings. Despite raising important topics, the concerns reflect standard risks in machine learning, which we were aware of and explicitly addressed in our analyses.

Objective: To assess the accuracy of a large language model (LLM) in measuring clinician adherence to practice guidelines for monitoring side effects after prescribing medications for children with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).
Methods: Retrospective population-based cohort study of electronic health records. Cohort included children aged 6 to 11 years with ADHD diagnosis and 2 or more ADHD medication encounters (stimulants or nonstimulants prescribed) between 2015 and 2022 in a community-based primary health care network (n = 1201).

Background: Stroke is a significant global health concern, ranking as the second leading cause of death and placing a substantial financial burden on healthcare systems, particularly in low- and middle-income countries. Timely evaluation of stroke severity is crucial for predicting clinical outcomes, with standard assessment tools being the Rapid Arterial Occlusion Evaluation (RACE) and the National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS). This study aims to utilize Machine Learning (ML) algorithms to predict stroke severity using these two distinct scales.

Hepatitis C virus (HCV) is a pathogen that causes cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma through chronic hepatitis C. This study focused on the anti-HCV activity of a 70% ethanol extract of Nakai (KKE) and its bioactive chemical constituent(s). The KKE and its -butanol (-BuOH) fraction induced a significant reduction in HCV RNA levels without inducing cytotoxicity.

Toll-like receptors (TLRs) are critical regulators of the immune system, and altered TLR responses lead to a variety of inflammatory diseases. Interference of intracellular TLR signaling, which is mediated by multiple Toll/interleukin-1 receptor (TIR) domains on all TLRs and TLR adapters, is an effective therapeutic strategy against immune dysregulation. Peptides that inhibit TIR-TIR interactions by fragmenting interface residues have potential as therapeutic decoys.

Composites of hydrogels and metals are gaining interest because of each material's unique properties. However, the stable adhesion of metals on hydrogels is challenging due to the mechanical mismatch at the soft-hard interface and the liquidity of the water components in hydrogels. We propose a facile physical-adhesion method that involves the dehydration process of hydrogels to transfer metals from a glass substrate.
