Clinical Profile of Acute Pancreatitis in Children and Adolescents from a Single Center in Northern India.

Introduction: There has been an increase in incidence of pancreatitis in children all over the world; studies in developed countries shown multiple etiological factors such as drugs, infections, trauma, anatomic abnormalities, and/or genetic pancreatitis in children; however, there are sparse data from the developing countries. This study was undertaken to determine the characteristics of Indian children with acute pancreatitis (AP), mainly the clinical features, etiology, complication, association, genetic factors, and outcome and recurrence.

Methods: We performed a retrospective study of all patients under the age of 18 years, who had a final diagnosis of pancreatitis admitted at our center between 2017 and 2019.

Background: Over the past two decades, insulin glargine 100 U/mL (Gla-100) has emerged as the "standard of care" basal insulin for the management of type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM). Both formulations, insulin glargine 100 U/mL (Gla-100) and glargine 300 U/mL (Gla- 300) have been extensively studied against various comparator basal insulins across various clinical and real-world studies. In this comprehensive article, we reviewed the evidence on both insulin glargine formulations in T1DM across clinical trials and real-world studies.

Discharge Planning for People with Inpatient Hyperglycaemia: A Review on Pharmacological Management.

Inadequate glycaemic control post-discharge is the root cause of readmission in people with diabetes mellitus (DM) and is often linked to improper discharge planning (DP). A structured DP plays a crucial role in ensuring continuing home care and avoiding readmissions. DP should help patients in self-care and provide appropriate guidance to maintain optimal glycaemic control.

IMMEDIATE VITRECTOMY vs TAP AND INJECT IN EYES WITH ACUTE POSTCATARACT ENDOPHTHALMITIS AND VISUAL ACUITY ≥HM: A Randomized Clinical Trial.

Purpose: To compare the outcomes of immediate pars plana vitrectomy (PPV) and tap and inject in eyes with postcataract surgery endophthalmitis.

Methods: Patients presenting with acute postcataract surgery endophthalmitis and visual acuity between ≥ hand movement and <6/18 were randomized to receive either PPV (Group A) or tap and inject (Group B).

Results: There were 26 and 31 eyes in Group A and Group B, respectively.

Bile acid synthetic disorders are rare inborn errors of metabolism, and presentations include neonatal cholestasis, neurological disease or deficiency of fat-soluble vitamins. Affected patients fail to produce standard bile acids but accumulate unusual bile acids and intermediates, resulting in liver failure and complications. Most of them improve with bile acid supplementation, but delaying initiating treatment is detrimental to the outcome.

Awake proning in patients with COVID-19-related hypoxemic acute respiratory failure: A rapid practice guideline.

This rapid practice guideline provides evidence-based recommendations for the use of awake proning in adult patients with acute hypoxemic respiratory failure due to COVID-19. The panel included 20 experts from 12 countries, including one patient representative, and used a strict conflict of interest policy for potential financial and intellectual conflicts of interest. Methodological support was provided by the guidelines in intensive care, development, and evaluation (GUIDE) group.

Platelet additive solution suspended apheresis platelets in a tertiary care hospital: A step toward universal single donor platelets.

Background: Transfusion of ABO-compatible single donor platelets (SDP) is preferable for better outcomes over group switchover SDP. The use of SDP containing ABO-incompatible plasma is associated with a risk of allergic and acute hemolytic transfusion reactions. Moreover, high titer O group donors SDP impose a further threat to patient safety.

PET with amino acid tracers provides additional insight beyond MR imaging into the biology of gliomas that can be used for initial diagnosis, delineation of tumor margins, planning of surgical and radiation therapy, assessment of residual tumor, and evaluation of posttreatment response. Hybrid PET MR imaging allows the simultaneous acquisition of various PET and MR imaging parameters in a single investigation with reduced scanning time and improved anatomic localization. This review aimed to provide neuroradiologists with a concise overview of the various amino acid tracers and a practical understanding of the clinical applications of amino acid PET MR imaging in glioma management.

Comparative evaluation of hypofractionated radiotherapy versus conventionally fractionated radiotherapy for patients with intermediate and high risk prostate cancer.

Background: The purpose of this study was to comparatively evaluate an efficacy and toxicity profile of hypofractionated radiotherapy (67.5 Gy in 25 fractions) to conventionally fractionated radiotherapy (78 Gy in 39 fractions) in prostate cancer patients with intermediate and high-risk disease.

Materials And Methods: From January 2015 to December 2018, 168 patients were randomized to hypofractionated radiation treatment and conventional fractionated radiation treatment schedules of volumetric modulated arc therapy (VMAT) to the prostate and seminal vesicles.

Pediatric liver transplantation for autoimmune liver disease: Ten-year experience from a liver transplant center in India.

Liver transplantation (LT) has emerged as the best therapeutic modality for end-stage liver disease in pediatric autoimmune liver disease (AILD). We aimed to describe our experience of pediatric living donor liver transplantation for AILD from India over a period of 10 years. We did a retrospective analysis of 244 liver transplants at our center over the last 10 years to identify children with AILD (18 years or younger).

Introduction: Primary synovial osteochondromatosis (SOCM) or Synovial chondromatosis (SC) of the hip is a benign metaplastic condition of the synovium that is rare and may present with a spectrum of clinical features and radiological findings.

Patients And Methods: A retrospective search using the keyword 'Synovial chondromatosis' (SC) of the hip was performed at a tertiary care orthopaedic referral centre in the UK and a hospital in India. The radiology images were collected from our Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) and Radiology Information System (RIS), over 15 years.

Introduction: The InPOG-HL-15-01, a multicentric prospective study, used a risk-stratified and response-based approach with doxorubicin, bleomycin, vinblastine, and dacarbazine (ABVD) backbone to treat children and adolescents with newly diagnosed Hodgkin lymphoma (HL) and reduce the use of radiation therapy (RT). Here, we show a novel mechanism of SARS-CoV-2-mediated pro-inflammatory/pro-apoptotic mtDNA release and a rational therapeutic stem cell-based approach to mitigate these effects.
