Understanding the living-related pediatric liver transplantation donor's decision process: A questionnaire-based retrospective study.

Methods: This is a retrospective study done in the Department of Pediatric Gastroenterology and Hepatology of a liver transplant centre. We enrolled the consenting donors of pediatric liver transplantation between January 2020 and January 2022.

Tapia syndrome following TMJ gap arthroplasty: A case report and review of literature.

Tapia syndrome is an extremely rare condition involving simultaneous paralysis of cranial nerves X (recurrent laryngeal branch) and XII. The record-based retrospective data of culture reports of the patients admitted to all the ICUs of a tertiary care hospital during the period from January 2020 to May 2022 were analyzed.

PML has been reported rarely even in immunocompetent individuals where no immunodeficiency was present. PML characteristically involves periventricular and juxtacortical white matter.

Intraoperative bleeding poses a substantial challenge, particularly in neuro-spine surgeries leading to complications such as hematomas, infections, and hemodynamic instability. Despite their proven efficacy, use of topical hemostatic agents (THAs) lacks comprehensive published literature and guidelines particularly in the Indian setting. The present study provides the first-ever Indian expert panel recommendations for effective adjunct THA use in different intraoperative bleeding sites and situations in neuro-spine surgeries.

Decreasing central line-associated bloodstream infections rates in intensive care units in 30 low- and middle-income countries: An INICC approach.

Background: Central line (CL)-associated bloodstream infections (CLABSIs) occurring in the intensive care unit (ICU) are common and associated with a high burden.

Methods: We implemented a multidimensional approach, incorporating an 11-element bundle, education, surveillance of CLABSI rates and clinical outcomes, monitoring compliance with bundle components, feedback of CLABSI rates and clinical outcomes, and performance feedback in 316 ICUs across 30 low- and middle-income countries. Our dependent variables were CLABSI per 1,000-CL-days and in-ICU all-cause mortality rates.

Objective: The aim of this study is to analyze the early outcomes of Total Arterial Revascularization using Robot Assisted Minimally Invasive Coronary Artery Bypass at our center between June 2019 and January 2023.

Methods: This is a retrospective analysis of 195 patients who underwent Total Arterial Coronary Revascularization through Robot Assisted Minimally Invasive Coronary Artery Bypass procedure (RA-CABG) during the period of June 2019 and January 2023 in a quaternary care center in India. Primary outcome variables were in-hospital and 30-day mortality.

There was an increasing trend in publications, across the globe. Some of the Asian countries like China and India have shown a substantial growth in their research output.

Sirolimus-induced Hypertriglyceridemia Leads to Acute Pancreatitis and Diabetic Ketoacidosis Post Stem Cell Transplant for Sickle Cell Disease.

Sirolimus (mammalian target of rapamycin inhibitor) is a potent immunosuppressive agent, used in patients receiving hematopoietic stem cell transplant (HSCT) for Graft vs Host disease prophylaxis. Compared to calcineurin inhibitors, sirolimus has no neurotoxicity or nephrotoxicity, but sirolimus causes dose-dependent thrombocytopenia, leukopenia, delayed wound healing, hyperlipidemia, and hypertriglyceridemia. Here we report a case of acute pancreatitis and diabetic ketoacidosis in a patient with sickle cell disease post haploidentical family donor HSCT which was managed conservatively without plasmapheresis.

Deep Learning Augmented Osteoarthritis Grading Standardization.

Manual grading of cartilage histology images for investigating the extent and severity of osteoarthritis (OA) involves critical examination of the cell characteristics, which makes this task tiresome, tedious, and error prone. This results in wide interobserver variation, causing ambiguities in OA grade prediction. Such drawbacks of manual assessment can be overcome by implementing artificial intelligence-based automated image classification techniques such as deep learning (DL).

Retinoblastoma in Asia: Clinical Presentation and Treatment Outcomes in 2112 Patients from 33 Countries.

Purpose: To describe the clinical presentation and treatment outcomes of children who received a diagnosis of retinoblastoma in 2017 throughout Asia.

Design: Multinational, prospective study including treatment-naïve patients in Asia who received a diagnosis of retinoblastoma in 2017 and were followed up thereafter.

Participants: A total of 2112 patients (2797 eyes) from 96 retinoblastoma treatment centers in 33 Asian countries.

Management of chondral and osteochondral lesions of the hip : A comprehensive review.

Chondral and osteochondral lesions encompass several acute or chronic defects of the articular cartilage and/or subchondral bone. These lesions can result from several different diseases and injuries, including osteochondritis dissecans, osteochondral defects, osteochondral fractures, subchondral bone osteonecrosis, and insufficiency fractures. As the cartilage has a low capacity for regeneration and self-repair, these lesions can progress to osteoarthritis.

Surgical competence is the ability to successfully apply academic knowledge, clinical skills and professional behaviour to inpatient care. Along with ensuring patient safety, the ability to communicate effectively, collaborative teamwork and probity, and achieving satisfactory competencies form the fundamental principles of good medical practice. Current strategies to develop surgical competencies include a range of formative and summative assessments.
