Here, we report functionalized graphene quantum dots (GQDs) for the optical detection of arsenic at room temperature. GQDs with the fluorescence of three fundamental colors (red, green, and blue) were synthesized and functionally capped with L-cysteine (L-cys) to impart selectively towards As (III) by exploiting the affinity of L-cys towards arsenite. The optical characterization of GQDs was carried out using UV-vis absorption spectroscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, and fluorescence spectrometry, and the structural characterizations were performed using transmission electron microscopy.

This article measured the performance of 32 states and union territories (UTs) of India against COVID-19 disease using efficiency score which was calculated by data envelopment analysis (DEA) and compared the efficiency score with the different models which are used in many articles to evaluate the efficiency of healthcare system. Here the input parameters are taken as public health expenditure in a million, number of hospitals, number of hospital beds, percentage of health workers, population density, and number of infected, and output parameters divided into good and bad categories such as the number of recovered are taken as good output. The number of death is taken as bad outputs.

Comprehending fibroblast growth factor receptor like 1: Oncogene or tumor suppressor?

Cancer Treat Res Commun

March 2022

University School of Biotechnology, Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, Dwarka, New Delhi, India. Electronic address:

Fibroblast Growth Factor Receptor Like 1 (FGFRL1) signaling has crucial role in a multitude of processes during genetic diseases, embryonic development and various types of cancer. Due to its partial structural similarity with its classical Fibroblast Growth Factor Receptor [FGFR] counterparts and lack of tyrosine kinase domain, FGFRL1 was thought to work as a decoy receptor in FGF/FGFR signaling. Later on, growing number evidences showed that expression of FGFRL1 affects major pathways like ERK1/2, Akt and others, which are dysfunctional in a wide range of human cancers.

Microplastics as contaminants in Indian environment: a review.

Environ Sci Pollut Res Int

December 2021

University School of Environment Management, Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, Dwarka Sector 16C, New Delhi, 110078, India.

The increased production and consumption scale of plastic items has led to the generation of microplastics (MPs), an emerging class of contaminants, in our environment. MPs are plastic particles less than 5 mm in size and could originate due to primary and secondary sources. The primary ones are generated as such in the MP size range while the secondary MPs are a result of fragmentation of larger plastic particles which eventually enters the aquatic, terrestrial and atmospheric environments.

New candidates of imidazo[1,2-a]pyridine were designed by combining 2-amino pyridine, TOSMIC and various assorted aldehydes to explore their antioxidant and antifungal potential. The design of these derivatives was based on utilizing the antifungal potential of azoles and TOSMIC moiety. These derivatives were synthesized by adopting multi-component reaction methodology, as it serves as a rapid and efficient tool to target structurally diverse heterocyclic compounds in quantitative yield.

Swift heavy ions (SHI) irradiation of Nickel (Ni) beam with different ions fluence bring the modifications in the functional properties of radio frequency (RF) grown zirconium oxide (ZrO) nanocrystalline thin films. X-ray diffraction analysis affirms the monoclinic to tetragonal phase transformation and diminishing of peak at higher fluence 1 × 10 and 2 × 10 ions/cm induced by electronic excitation caused by SHI. Zirconium oxide thin films exhibit the same thickness (195 nm) of virgin and irradiated samples and whereas the nanocrystalline thin films have the elemental composition in proper stoichiometry (1:2) as analyzed by rutherford backscattering spectroscopy (RBS).

In this contribution, we report the fabrication of multifunctional nanoparticles with gold shell over an iron oxide nanoparticles (INPs) core. The fabricated system combines the magnetic property of INPs and the surface plasmon resonance of gold. The developed nanoparticles are coated with thiolated pectin (TPGINs), which provides stability to the nanoparticles dispersion and allows the loading of hydrophobic anticancer drugs.

Many countries are taking steps to establish national strategies to improve the financial well-being (FWB) of their people. However, FWB as a term is still in the infancy stage with a handful of models developed in the context of developed countries. Thus, there is a need to understand FWB from a multi-disciplinary and multi-dimensional approach to draft and implement efficient strategies, especially in the context of developing countries like India.

Among monitor lizards of the family Varanidae, Indian desert monitor lizard Mertens 1954 is one of the lesser-known species globally and due to lack of data on this species it is so far not evaluated by IUCN and excluded from the latest assessment of monitor lizards of Southeast Asia and Indo-Australian Archipelago. The present study was undertaken from January 2013 to June 2017 to fill this gap during which taxonomic evaluation along with an assessment of population and ecology of this species was carried out in the Thar desert of Rajasthan (TDR). The study brought into knowledge many morphological variations along with intraspecific variations of scale microstructure of this lizard.

The molecular structure, UV-visible spectra, and optical properties of D-π-A conjugated organic dye molecules (Disperse Red 1 (DR1) and Disperse Red 73 (DR73)) were analyzed using density functional theory (DFT) and time-dependent density functional theory (TD-DFT) and compared with azobenzene molecule to study the effect of donor and acceptor substituents on the molecular properties. The performance of DFT functionals is investigated using B3LYP hybrid functional and three long-range corrected functionals (CAM-B3LYP, LC-ω PBE, and ω B97XD) in conjunction with 6-31G(d,p) basis set. Using TD-DFT, we calculate the vertical excitation energies and transition dipole moment values for 100 excited states.
