Background: Several human diseases like Parkinson's, Alzheimer's disease, and systemic amyloidosis are associated with the misfolding and aggregation of protein molecules.

Objective: The present study demonstrated the comparison of 4-methyl coumarin and 4-methylthiocoumarin derivative for their anti-amyloidogenic and disaggregation activities. The hen egg-white lysozyme is used as a model system to study protein aggregation and disaggregation under in vitro conditions.

Transpedal access is an evolving technique primarily used in patients after failed femoral antegrade approach to revascularize complex tibiopedal lesions. In patients who are at high risk for surgery the transpedal access may be the only option in failed antegrade femoral access to avoid amputation of the limbs. In recent years transpedal access is used routinely to revascularize supra-popliteal lesions due to more success and less complications over femoral artery approach.

A thorough understanding of the tumor environment and underlying genetic factors helps in the better formulation of cancer management strategies. Availability of efficient diagnostic and prognostic biomarkers facilitates early detection and progression of the disease. MicroRNAs affect different biological processes participating in tumorigenesis through regulation of their target genes.

is a DNA/tRNA cytosine methyltransferase that is highly conserved in structure and function in eukaryotes. In plants however, limited information is available on the function of this methyltransferase. We have previously reported that in the moss , plays a crucial role in stress recovery and tRNA transcription/stability under salt stress.

Biocovers are known for their role as key facilitator to reduce landfill methane (CH) emission on improving microbial methane bio-oxidation. Methanotrophs existing in the aerobic zone of dumped wastes are the only known biological sinks for CH being emitted from the lower anaerobic section of landfill sites and even from the atmosphere. However, their efficacy remains under the influence of landfill environment and biocover characteristics.

The Covid-19 epidemic is a public health emergency of international concern. It poses a massive risk for the human race across the planet, calling for the need to take measures at the local, regional, national, and global levels. South Asian countries stand more vulnerable to the pandemic due to their dense population, poor infrastructure, and low surveillance system.

There is an increase in concern about the hazardous effects of radioactivity due to the presence of undesirable radioactive substances in our vicinity. Nuclear accidents such as Chernobyl (1986) and Fukushima (2011) have further raised concerns towards such incidents which have led to contamination of water bodies. Conventional methods of water purification are less efficient in decontamination of radioisotopes.

This article reports the thermoelectric-based solar energy harvesting. The effect of candle soot (CS) coating on solar energy harvesting potential of thermoelectric modules is studied. To compare the performance, uncoated/coated modules are exposed to solar radiations (through Fresnel lens) and the other side is kept at lower temperature using continuous water flow.

Image fusion (IF) attracts the researchers in the areas of the medical industry as valuable information could be afforded through the fusion of images that enable the clinical decisions to remain effective. With the aim to render an effective image fusion, this paper concentrates on the Bayesian fusion approach, which is tuned optimally using the proposed Fractional Bird Swarm Optimization (Fractional-BSA). The medical image fusion is progressed using the MRI brain image taken from the BRATS database, and the source images of multimodalities are fused effectively to present an information-rich fused image.

Microbial fuel cell (MFC) technology has emerged as a new and attractive bioelectrochemical approach in the last one and a half decade that offers an alternative to conventional treatment methods to remove and recover heavy metals and organics from wastewaters with simultaneous energy production. This technique has advantage over the conventional wastewater treatment techniques, which are energy intensive, sludge producing and with little effectivity at high concentrations. Significant work has been done in the recent years on MFC principle, electrode configuration, biofilm composition, application of MFC in wastewater treatment, metal removal or recovery and energy production.

Nitrate (N) response is modulated by light, but not understood from a genome-wide perspective. Comparative transcriptomic analyses of nitrate response in light-grown and etiolated rice leaves revealed 303 and 249 differentially expressed genes (DEGs) respectively. A majority of them were exclusive to light (270) or dark (216) condition, whereas 33 DEGs were common.

Alzheimer's disease (AD) is characterized by depositions of amyloid β (Aβ) peptides aggregates resulting in plaques formation in the central nervous system (CNS). This study evaluates the disease-modifying potential of scopoletin against multiple factors associated with AD such as cholinesterase enzymes, Aβ peptides, and neuroprotective properties against Aβ- and HO-induced cytotoxicity under in vitro conditions. Scopoletin was identified and quantified using UPLC-QTOF (ultra-high performance liquid chromatography-quadrupole time-of-flight) and high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), respectively.

One of the common complications diagnosed in Diabetes Mellitus (DM) patients is Diabetic Foot Ulcers (DFUs). It is a condition wherein the deep tissues located in the lower limb undergo inflammation and infection due to neurological abnormalities (neuropathy) and various degrees of vascular diseases (angiopathy). The concentration of l-tyrosine (Tyr) rises abruptly in DFUs, and therefore may be used as an indicator for early monitoring of the patient's condition during the onset of diabetic foot disease.

Aim: Growth factors (GFs) are polypeptides, which are intricately involved in the regulation of bone formation, preservation, and regeneration through gene expression. However, the role of these bioactive agents in osseointegration of dental implants has not been substantially proven. The objective of this systematic review (SR) and meta-analysis was to explore the effect of GFs on early osseointegration of dental implants in animal jaws.

Humanity's transformation of the nitrogen cycle has major consequences for ecosystems, climate and human health, making it one of the key environmental issues of our time. Understanding how trends could evolve over the course of the 21 century is crucial for scientists and decision-makers from local to global scales. Scenario analysis is the primary tool for doing so, and has been applied across all major environmental issues, including nitrogen pollution.

Foreign direct investment (FDI) and the consumption of non-renewable energy have been on the increase in the coastal Mediterranean countries (CMCs) over the last few decades. Both trigger growth, but the environmental impact could be far-reaching as environmental distortions are mainly human-induced. This study examines the environmental issues facing CMCs.
