Background: Flowering time is an important crop trait. Mungbean flowers do not flower simultaneously, leading to asynchronous pod maturity and laborious multiple harvests per individual plant. The genomic and genetic mechanisms of flowering in mungbean are largely unknown.

Enteropathogenic Escherichia coli (EPEC) is one of the resistance bacteria towards antibiotics and have been raising problem during treatments. Therefore, a new antibiotic candidate is required. Plantaricin E and F recombinant have been successfully produced by a GRAS host Lactococcus lactis.

Lactobacillus plantarum produces bacteriocin called plantaricin that can kill or inhibit other bacteria. Plantaricin E (Pln E), a recombinant bacteriocin, has been successfully constructed and produced by a GRAS host, Lactococcus lactis. A polymerase chain reaction (PCR) overlapping technique has been used to construct a ligation of signal peptide gene, Pln A and bacteriocin encoding gene, Pln E.

Genome sequence of Jatropha curcas L., a non-edible biodiesel plant, provides a resource to improve seed-related traits.

Plant Biotechnol J

February 2019

Department of Plant Science and Research Institute of Agriculture and Life Sciences, Seoul National University, Seoul, Korea.

Jatropha curcas (physic nut), a non-edible oilseed crop, represents one of the most promising alternative energy sources due to its high seed oil content, rapid growth and adaptability to various environments. We report ~339 Mbp draft whole genome sequence of J. curcas var.

Genetic transformation of maize inbred genotypes remains non-routine for many laboratories due to variations in cell competency to induce embryogenic callus, as well as the cell's ability to receive and incorporate transgenes into the genome. This chapter describes two transformation protocols using Agrobacterium- and biolistic-mediated methods for gene delivery. Immature zygotic embryos of maize inbred B104, excised from ears harvested 10-14 days post pollination, are used as starting explant material.
