Article Synopsis
  • The study evaluated the safety and feasibility of using a 2-dimensional (2-D) radiotherapy technique for hypofractionated treatment in breast cancer patients, comparing a 2-week schedule to a traditional 3-week schedule.
  • Conducted as an open-label, randomized phase 3 trial with 1121 patients, it aimed to see if the shorter treatment duration could be effective using 2-D methods when 3-dimensional techniques weren't available.
  • Findings indicated the research was approved ethically, followed for a median of 35 months, and included assessments for acute toxicity and cosmetic outcomes post-treatment.

There is a paucity of data regarding the prevalence of HTN-related distress. This study was conducted to estimate the prevalence of HTN-related distress among adults with HTN attending an outpatient department in an urban primary health centre and to determine the factors associated with distress.

Article Synopsis
  • This study focused on patients with non-ischemic systolic heart failure, specifically assessing the incidence of recovered Left Ventricular Ejection Fraction (LVEF) and its impact on mortality.
  • Out of 369 patients with an initial LVEF of less than 40%, 36.5% showed recovery of LVEF after five years, with better recovery rates linked to higher baseline LVEF.
  • Patients who experienced recovery of LVEF had significantly lower mortality rates (18.1%) compared to those who did not recover (57.1%).

Retrieving embolized peripherally inserted central catheter - A novel two step technique.

Radiol Case Rep

March 2022

Department of Radiodiagnosis, Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC), Shimla 171001, Himachal Pradesh, India.

We report a novel two-step percutaneous endovascular technique for retrieval of peripherally inserted central catheter, free ends of which were inaccessible, that had embolized to the segmental branch of left pulmonary artery using SIM 1 catheter and a loop snare, in a 17 year old female patient diagnosed with osteosarcoma right femur. Step one involved, inserting SIM 1 catheter through the heart to hook the embolized peripherally inserted central catheter and bring it down to the lower segment of inferior vena cava. In the second step, a loop snare was used to grasp the free end of peripherally inserted central catheter, and the whole assembly was withdrawn via right common femoral vein access.

Therefore, we conducted a study in naïve HIV subjects with routine audiometry.  To determine the effect of HIV and of the drugs used to treat it on the auditory functions.

Introduction: Data from high-income countries suggest that women receive less intensive diagnostic and therapeutic management than men for acute coronary syndrome (ACS). There is a paucity of such data in the Indian population, which is 69% rural and prior studies focused mostly on urban populations. The objective of the present study was to identify the gender based differences in ACS management, if any, in a predominantly rural population.
