Key Clinical Message: Embolic stroke may rarely be the first presenting symptom of atrial myxoma. Multiple infarcts should be evaluated for embolic causes. Correct etiological diagnosis in cardio-embolic stroke guides proper management strategy.

Fundus Changes in High Myopia in Relation to Axial Length of the Globe.

Purpose: The aim of the study is to correlate between axial length of the eyeball and fundus changes and to know its importance.

Materials And Methods: It was an observational study conducted for a duration of 1 year in patients with myopia more than 1 D and axial length more than 24 mm. A total of 100 eyes were included in the study and all underwent thorough fundus examination.

Clinical and genetic spectrum of 104 Indian families with central nervous system white matter abnormalities.

Genetic disorders with predominant central nervous system white matter abnormalities (CNS WMAs), also called leukodystrophies, are heterogeneous entities. We ascertained 117 individuals with CNS WMAs from 104 unrelated families. Targeted genetic testing was carried out in 16 families and 13 of them received a diagnosis.

Identification of a novel homozygous variant confirms ITPA as a developmental and epileptic encephalopathy gene.

ITPA related epileptic encephalopathy (epileptic encephalopathy, early infantile, 35) is a rare inborn error of metabolism. All reported individuals with this condition, including the present case manifest global developmental delay, seizures, progressive postnatal microcephaly, hypotonia, thin corpus callosum, cerebral atrophy, delayed myelination and white matter changes in posterior limb of internal capsule. Cataract and dilated cardiomyopathy are other characteristic findings.

From a wellness perspective, health is viewed in a broad sense that encompasses interrelationships among physical, mental, social, emotional, and spiritual components. This approach to health is particularly applicable in diabetes management because diabetes affects all areas of a person's life--work, family, social, and recreational. The boundaries of diabetes education need to be expanded to address this holistic view of health.
