Introduction: Clinical trials are critical for drug development and patient care; however, they often need more efficient trial design and patient enrolment processes. This research explores integrating machine learning (ML) techniques to address these challenges. Specifically, the study investigates ML models for two critical aspects: (1) streamlining clinical trial design parameters (like the site of drug action, type of Interventional/Observational model, etc) and (2) optimizing patient/volunteer enrolment for trials through efficient classification techniques.

The "" under this Perspective underline the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration and partnerships across several disciplines, such as medical science and technology, medicine, bioengineering, and computational approaches, in bridging the gap between research, manufacturing, and clinical applications. Effective communication is key to bridging team gaps, enhancing trust, and resolving conflicts, thereby fostering teamwork and individual growth toward shared goals. Drawing from the success of the COVID-19 vaccine development, we advocate the application of similar collaborative models in other complex health areas such as nanomedicine and biomedical engineering.

The replacement of the thermodynamically unfavorable anodic oxygen evolution reaction (OER) with a more favorable organic oxidation reaction, such as the anodic oxidation of benzylamine, has garnered significant interest in hybrid water electrolyzer cells. This approach promises the production of value-added chemicals alongside hydrogen fuel generation, improving overall energy efficiency. However, achieving high current density for benzylamine oxidation without interference from OER remains a challenge, limiting the practical efficiency of the electrolyzer cell.

To combat the persistent environmental issues resulting from eutrophication, it is necessary to scavenge excess phosphorous levels from aquatic ecosystems. In response, a cationic adsorbent was prepared by modifying agrowaste-derived natural biomacromolecule; nanofibrillated cellulose (NFC) using cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) surfactant. Comprehensive characterization through XRD, FTIR, HR-SEM, SEM-EDX, BET and XPS demonstrated that quaternizing NFC significantly improved its surface chemistry by introducing substantial quaternary ammonium groups.

Contemporary research evidence has corroborated a gradual loss of central cholinergic neurons in Alzheimer's Disease (AD). This progressive deterioration leads to cognitive dysfunction and impaired motor activity, culminating in the brain cell's death in the disease. The approved drugs for AD treatment can only offer relief from symptoms without addressing the underlying pathological hallmarks of the disease.

Creating an analytical probe to track extremely mutagenic picric acid (PA) is essential for human health and the environment. Here, we developed a straightforward and quick fluorescence analytical method utilizing 3-aminopropyltrimethoxysilane (3-APTMS)-functionalized curcumin carbon quantum dots (CQDs) for the fast and selective detection of PA. Solvothermal carbonization and functionalization of curcumin with 3-APTMS were used to create multifunctional CQDs, which were then characterized using UV-vis spectroscopy, Fourier transform infrared (FTIR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), ζ-potential, transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS).

A resistive switching device with precise control over the formation of conductive filaments (CF) holds immense potential for high-density memory arrays and atomic-scale in-memory computing architectures. While ion migration and electrochemical switching mechanisms are well understood, controlling the evolution of CF remains challenging for practical resistive random-access memory (RRAM) deployment. This study introduces a systematic approach to modulate oxygen vacancies (OV) in HfO films of Ag/HfO/Pt-based RRAM devices by controlling the substrate temperature.

Catalytic metal-organic frameworks (MOFs)-based sensor matrices can act synergistically with Au metallic nanostructures to generate amplified signal readouts by causing the electro-oxidation of the target analyte. Folic acid (FA), an essential water-soluble vitamin and a precursor for enzymes, requires timely and precise monitoring in the serum of individuals with varying clinical diagnoses. An attempt has been made in this direction through our work, where the rapid detection of FA through its oxidation at metal centers from hybrid nanomaterials is deployed for signal generation.

We have earlier reported novel anti-leishmanial molecules, veratramine and hupehenine, targeting dephospho-coenzyme A kinase of the parasite. In our current investigation, we assessed the efficacy of these two steroidal alkaloids, veratramine and hupehenine, in combating the parasite. Contrary to expectations, our study did not detect the typical signs of apoptosis such as mitochondrial membrane potential loss and phosphatidylserine externalization.
