An Aqueous Route to Oxygen-Deficient Wake-Up-Free La-Doped HfO Ferroelectrics for Negative Capacitance Field Effect Transistors.

ACS Nano

October 2023

Multifunctional Nano Bio Electronics Lab, School of Advanced Materials Science and Engineering, Sungkyunkwan University, Suwon 16419, Gyeonggi-do, Republic of Korea.

The crucial role of nanocrystalline morphology in stabilizing the ferroelectric orthorhombic (o)-phase in doped-hafnia films is achieved via chemical solution deposition (CSD) by intentionally retaining carbonaceous impurities to inhibit grain growth. However, in the present study, large-grained (>100 nm) La-doped HfO (HLO) films are grown directly on silicon by adopting engineered water-diluted precursors with a minimum carbonaceous load and excellent shelf life. The o-phase stabilization is accomplished through a well-distributed La dopant, which generates uniformly populated oxygen vacancies, eliminating the need for oxygen-scavenging electrodes.

Se-Vacancy Healing with Substitutional Oxygen in WSe for High-Mobility p-Type Field-Effect Transistors.

ACS Nano

June 2023

School of Advanced Materials Science and Engineering, Sungkyunkwan University, Suwon-Si, Gyeonggi-do 16419, Republic of Korea.

Transition-metal dichalcogenides possess high carrier mobility and can be scaled to sub-nanometer dimensions, making them viable alternative to Si electronics. WSe is capable of hole and electron carrier transport, making it a key component in CMOS logic circuits. However, since the p-type electrical performance of the WSe-field effect transistor (FET) is still limited, various approaches are being investigated to circumvent this issue.

The cost-effective and abundant availability of sodium offers an opportunity for rechargeable Na-ion batteries as an ideal replacement for rechargeable Li-ion batteries. However, the larger size and strong Na-Na interaction create multidimensional phase instability and transformation problems, especially in layer-structured NaMO (Mn, Co, Fe, and Ni) that inhibit the direct transformation of rechargeable Li-ion battery technology to Na-ion batteries. However, framework structures offer superior structural stability due to the interconnection of polyanions or polyhedra forming cationic octahedra.

Product Recovery System (PRS) transfers products from their typical final place to their source to arrest some value on the product. There are obstructions, such as costs, associated with the modification of accounts and assessment of products and refunds associated with the implementation of PRS. Blockchain Technology (BCT) emerged as an innovative approach to constructing trust in a trust less environment and assures the availability, traceability, and security in data management.

Purpose: Electromagnetic tracking (EMT) can partially replace X-ray guidance in minimally invasive procedures, reducing radiation in the OR. However, in this hybrid setting, EMT is disturbed by metallic distortion caused by the X-ray device. We plan to make hybrid navigation clinical reality to reduce radiation exposure for patients and surgeons, by compensating EMT error.

Green macroalgae comprise significant amount of structural carbohydrates for their conversion to liquid biofuels. However, it generally relies on species characteristics and the variability in seasonal profile to determine its route for bioprocessing. Hence, this study was conducted to analyze the indigenous marine macroalgal strain (Ulva prolifera) with respect to periodic trend and reducing sugar extraction.

Winter varieties of plants can flower only after exposure to prolonged cold. This phenomenon is known as vernalization and has been widely studied in the model plant Arabidopsis thaliana as well as in monocots. Through the repression of floral activator genes, vernalization prevents flowering in winter.

Dr. Liang is now with the Department of Physiology and Pathophysiology, School of Basic Medical Sciences, Xi'an Jiaotong University Health Science Center, Xi'an, Shaanxi, China. Dr. Yang is now with the Department of Neurobiology, School of Basic Medical Sciences, Advanced Innovation Center for Human Brain Protection, Capital Medical University, Beijing, China.

Several reports support the idea that µ- and δ-opioid receptors (ORs) may exist as heterodimers in brain regions involved in pain signaling. The unique pharmacology of these heteromers may present a novel analgesic target. However, the role of µ-δ heteromers in sensory neurons involved in pain and opioid analgesia remains unclear, particularly during neuropathic pain.

Biofilm resistance is one of the severe complications associated with chronic wound infections, which impose extreme microbial tolerance against antibiotic therapy. Interestingly, deoxyribonuclease-I (DNase-I) has been empirically proved to be efficacious in improving the antibiotic susceptibility against biofilm-associated infections. DNase-I hydrolyzes the extracellular DNA, a key component of the biofilm responsible for the cell adhesion and strength.

Dense colonization of mucoid Pseudomonas aeruginosa within the self-secreted extracellular matrix (mainly alginate), called biofilm, is a principal reason for the failure of antimicrobial therapy in cystic fibrotic patients. Alginate is a key component in the biofilm of mucoid P. aeruginosa and responsible for surface adhesion and stabilization of biofilm.
