The global burden of dengue disease is escalating under the influence of climate change, with India contributing a third of the total. The non-linearity and regional heterogeneity inherent in the climate-dengue relationship and the lack of consistent data makes it difficult to make useful predictions for effective disease prevention. The current study investigates these non-linear climate-dengue links in Pune, a dengue hotspot region in India with a monsoonal climate and presents a model framework for predicting both the near-term and future dengue mortalities.

Understanding the critical properties is essential for determining the physical behavior of topological systems. In this context, scaling theories based on the curvature function in momentum space, the renormalization group (RG) method, and the universality of critical exponents have proven effective. In this work, we develop a scaling theory for non-Hermitian topological states of matter.

Organic-inorganic hybrid ferroelectric compounds of the halobismuthate family have emerged as a focal point of research owing to their reduced toxicity and distinctive optical characteristics. This study presents a novel ammonium hybrid perovskite, [BPMBDMA]·[Bi2Br9], which exhibits both ferro- and piezoelectric properties and crystallizes in the polar noncentrosymmetric 2 space group. The nonlinear optical (NLO) activity of [BPMBDMA]·[Bi2Br9] was corroborated through second harmonic generation measurements evidencing its noncentrosymmetric structure, which was further substantiated by piezoresponse force microscopy analyses.

The cost of encoding a system Hamiltonian in a digital quantum computer as a linear combination of unitaries (LCU) grows with the 1-norm of the LCU expansion. The Block Invariant Symmetry Shift (BLISS) technique reduces this 1-norm by modifying the Hamiltonian action on only the undesired electron-number subspaces. Previously, BLISS required a computationally expensive nonlinear optimization that was not guaranteed to find the global minimum.

In the present work, we propose an experimental setup to investigate the effect of atmospheric turbulence on user-defined beams. The user-defined beams were formed by writing reconfigurable patterns on a spatial light modulator, allowing the impact of atmospheric turbulence to be investigated simultaneously and in real time. The programmable controllability provides several flexibilities to the system, such as the ability to create different beam types simultaneously, control the separation between different beams, compensate for aberrations, and easily switch between different beam types.

Utilizing the soft-lattice nature of metal halide perovskites, we employ post-synthetic cross-ion exchange to synthesize a series of narrow band-gap colloidal nanocrystals of methylammonium-based lead iodide solid solutions of composition FAMAPbI, as well as those of triple-cation composition CsFAMAPbI (TCPbI). The ability to finely tune the compositions not only helps in tailoring the optical properties in the near-infrared region, but also improves the stability of these colloidal nanocrystals towards moisture, which has been demonstrated as compared to their bulk counterparts. The thermal stability of these solid solutions is also comparable to that of the bulk, as evidenced by thermogravimetric studies.

Interconnected feedback loops are prevalent across biological mechanisms, including cell fate transitions enabled by epigenetic mechanisms in carcinomas. However, the operating principles of these networks remain largely unexplored. Here, we identify numerous interconnected feedback loops implicated in cell lineage decisions, which we discover to be the hallmarks of lower- and higher-dimensional state space.

Dimensionality Reduction (DR) is an indispensable step to enhance classifier accuracy with data redundancy in hyperspectral images (HSI). This paper proposes a framework for DR that combines band selection (BS) and effective spatial features. The conventional clustering methods for BS typically face hard encounters when we have a less data items matched to the dimensionality of the accompanying feature space.

Millimeter-wave and terahertz integrated circuits and chips are expected to serve as the backbone for future wireless networks and high resolution sensing. However, design of these integrated circuits and chips can be quite complex, requiring years of human expertise, careful tailoring of hand crafted circuit topologies and co-design with parameterized and pre-selected templates of electromagnetic structures. These structures (radiative and non-radiative, single-port and multi-ports) are subsequently optimized through ad-hoc methods and parameter sweeps.

The increasing prevalence of chronic diseases and their associated morbidities demands a deeper understanding of underlying mechanism and causative factors, with the hope of developing novel therapeutic strategies. Autophagy, a conserved biological process, involves the degradation of damaged organelles or protein aggregates to maintain cellular homeostasis. Disruption of this crucial process leads to increased genomic instability, accumulation of reactive oxygen species (ROS), decreased mitochondrial functions, and suppression of ubiquitination, leading to overall decline in quality of intracellular components.
