Ferrocenyl amines as directing groups for C-H activation have limitations as they are prone to undergo oxidation, allylic deamination, and β-hydride elimination. The fundamental challenge observed here is the competition between the desired C-H activation the vulnerable β-C-H bond activation of amines and fine-tuning of a suitable oxidant which avoids the oxidation of the β-C-H bond and ferrocene. Herein, the potential of an axially chiral NOBINAc ligand is revealed to implement the enantioselective Pd-catalyzed C-H activation process of ferrocenyl amines.

Three heterometallic hexanuclear 3d-4f complexes bearing the formula [Cu (L) Ln (L) (o-van) ] [L=2-((E)-((2-hydroxyphenyl)imino]methyl)phenol; o-van=ortho-vanillin] (Ln =Gd (1), Dy (2), and Tb (3)) have been synthesized and characterized. DC magnetic susceptibility measurements reveal overall antiferromagnetic interactions in 1 and 3, whereas co-existence of ferro- as well as antiferromagnetic interactions were observed in 2. The magnetocaloric effect has been observed for 1 with an entropy change (-ΔS ) of 22.

Supramolecular self-assembly of small organic molecules has emerged as a powerful tool to construct well-defined micro- and nanoarchitecture through fine-tuning a range of intermolecular interactions. The size, shape, and optical properties of these nanostructures largely depend on the specific assembly of the molecular building units, temperature and polarity of the medium, and external stimuli. The engineering of supramolecular self-assembled nanostructures with morphology-dependent tunable emission is in high demand due to the promising scope in nanodevices and molecular machines.
