A wide range of pollutants, including heavy metals, endocrine-disrupting chemicals (EDCs), residual pesticides, and pharmaceuticals, are present in various water systems, many of which strongly drive the proliferation and dissemination of antimicrobial resistance genes (ARGs), heightening the antimicrobial resistance (AMR) crisis and creating a critical challenge for environmental and health management worldwide. This study addresses the impact of anthropogenic pollutants on AMR through an extensive analysis of ARGs and mobile genetic elements (MGEs) in urban wastewater, source water, and drinking water supplies in India. Results indicated that bla and bla were the dominant ARGs across all water systems, underscoring the prevalence and dominance of resistance against β-lactam antibiotics.

We investigate the dynamics of non-interacting particles in a one-dimensional tight-binding chain in the presence of an electric field with random amplitude drawn from a Gaussian distribution, and explicitly focus on the nature of quantum transport. We derive an exact expression for the probability propagator and the mean-squared displacement in the clean limit and generalize it for the disordered case using the Liouville operator method. Our analysis reveals that in the presence a random static field, the system follows diffusive transport; however, an increase in the field strength causes a suppression in the transport and thus asymptotically leads towards localization.

The work establishes the salt of a tetra-cationic distibane, [LSb][CFSO] = [][OTf] (CFSO = OTf), stabilized by a bis(α-iminopyridine) ligand , defying the Coulombic repulsion. The synthetic approach involved a dehydrocoupling reaction when a mixture of and Sb(OTf) in a 1:1 ratio was treated with EtSiH/LiBEtH as the hydride source. We designed and synthesized three diacetylene monomers M1-M3 having two NH2 groups. As anticipated, the NH2 groups aided the preorganization of these monomers by N-H…N hydrogen bonding. In the crystals of monomer M1 and M2, the intermolecular N-H…N hydrogen bonding preorganized the diyne units in an orientation suitable for their topochemical polymerization, but in the case of monomer M3, the distance was slightly larger than that recommended for the topochemical reaction.

Why cancer cells disproportionately accumulate polyubiquitinated proteotoxic proteins despite high proteasomal activity is an outstanding question. While mis-regulated ubiquitination is a contributing factor, here we show that a structurally-perturbed and sub-optimally functioning proteasome is at the core of altered proteostasis in tumors. By integrating the gene coexpression signatures of proteasomal subunits in breast cancer (BrCa) patient tissues with the atomistic details of 26S holocomplex, we find that the transcriptional deregulation induced-stoichiometric imbalances perpetuate with disease severity.
