MicroRNAs (miRNAs) play a crucial role in cancer progression by selectively inducing translational degradation of messenger RNA (mRNA) via sequence-specific interactions with the 3'-untranslated region (3'-UTR). The potential targeting of miRNA has been recognized as a significant avenue for investigating the biological progression of diverse cancer types. Consequently, targeting of pri-miRNA and pre-miRNA by phytochemicals emerges as a viable strategy in the realm of anticancer therapies.

Treatment of triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) is very challenging as only few therapeutic options are available, including chemotherapy. Thus, a constant search for new and effective approaches of therapy that could potentially fight against TNBC and mitigate side effects is "turn-on". Recently, multitarget therapy has come up with huge possibilities, and it may possibly be useful to overcome several concurrent challenges in cancer therapy.

Radiation resistance is one of the major problems in the treatment of small cell lung cancer (SCLC). Most of these patients are given radiation as first-line treatment and it was observed that the initial response in these patients is very good. However, they show relapse in a few months which is also associated with resistance to treatment.

Breast cancer is the second-leading cause of cancer-related death in women and the most often diagnosed malignancy. As the majority of chemotherapeutic medications are associated with recurrence, drug resistance, and side effects, scientists are shifting to beneficial agents for prevention and treatment, such as natural molecules. Myricetin 3-rhamnoside, a natural flavonol glycoside is known for diverse pharmacological activities but fewer reports describe the antiproliferative ability.

Due to the enhanced resistance of bacteria to antibiotics, researchers always try to find effective alternatives to treat drug-resistant bacterial infections. In this context, we have explored antimicrobial peptides (AMPs), which are a broad class of small peptide molecules, and investigated their efficacy as potent antibacterial and antibiofilm agents. AMPs can cause cell death either through disruption of the cell membrane or by inhibiting vital intracellular functions, by binding to RNA, DNA, or intracellular components upon transversion through the cell membrane.

Lung cancer is still the most frequent cause of cancer-related death, accounting for nearly two million cases yearly. As cancer is a multifactorial disease, developing novel molecular therapeutics that can simultaneously target multiple associated cellular processes has become necessary. Ion channels are diverse regulators of cancer-related processes such as abnormal proliferation, invasion, migration, tumor progression, inhibition of apoptosis, and chemoresistance.

Studies suggest that the 1'β-CN moiety in remdesivir sterically clashes with the Ser861 residue of the RNA-dependent-RNA polymerase (RdRp), causing a delayed chain termination in the RNA replication process. Replacing C1'β-CN with 5-membered heterocycles such as tetrazoles, oxadiazoles, and triazoles can augment the inhibitory activity and pharmacokinetic profile of C-nucleotides. Synthesis of tetrazole-, triazole-, and oxadiazole-integrated C1' analogues of remdesivir was attempted using general synthetic routes.

The majority of the world population (around 25%) has latent Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Mtb) infection, among which only 5-10% of individuals develop active tuberculosis (TB), and 90-95% continue to have latent tuberculosis infection. This makes it the biggest global health concern. It has been reported that the resuscitation-promoting factor B (RpfB) is an exciting potential target for tuberculosis drug discovery due to its significant role in the reactivation of latent TB infection to an active infection.

Background: Concurrent existence of lncRNA and circular RNA at both nucleus and cytosol within a cell at different proportions is well reported. Previous studies showed that circular RNAs are synthesized in nucleus followed by transportation across the nuclear membrane and the export is primarily defined by their length. lncRNAs primarily originated through inefficient splicing and seem to use NXF1 for cytoplasm export.

Differently expressed genes (DEGs) across cervical (CC), endometrial (EC), and vulvar carcinoma (VC) may serve as potential biomarkers for these progressive tumor conditions. In this study, DEGs of cervical (CC), endometrial (EC), and vulvar carcinoma (VC) were identified by microarray analysis. The interaction network between the identified 124 DEGs was constructed and analyzed to identify the hub genes and genes with high stress centrality.

Background: Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) accounts for 20% of breast cancer that does not express HER2, progesterone and estrogen receptors. It is associated with a high mortality rate, morbidity, metastasis, recurrence, poor prognosis and resistance to chemotherapy. Lipoxygenase-5 (LOX-5), cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2), cathepsin-D (CATD), ornithine decarboxylase (ODC) and dihydrofolate reductase (DHFR) are involved in breast cancer carcinogenesis; hence, there is a pressing need to identify novel chemicals that targets these enzymes.

Narirutin is a dietary flavanone found in lemons, oranges, passion fruit, bergamot and grapefruit. It possesses anti-allergic, cardioprotective, neuroprotective, hepatoprotective potential, and its enriched fraction suppresses the growth of prostate cancer cells; however, there is currently no information on the chemopreventive potential of narirutin alone against hormone-refractory prostate cancer cells (PC-3) and its mode of action. Thus, the chemopreventive possibility of narirutin was investigated in PC-3 cells by utilising cytotoxicity assays.
