Phosphole and azaphosphole derivatives with triazole functionalities, [CH{1,2,3-NCCHC(PPh)}] (L1) and [CH{1,2,3-NC(Ph)C(PPh)}] (L2) were synthesized by reacting [(CH)(1,2,3-NC = CH--Br-CH)] and [(-Br-CH)(1,2,3-NC = CHCH)] with BuLi followed by the addition of dichlorophenylphosphine. The reactions of L1 and L2 with an excess of 30% HO afforded phosphole oxides [CH{1,2,3-NCCHC(P(O)Ph)}] (L1O) and [CH{1,2,3-NC(Ph)C(P(O)Ph)}] (L2O) as white crystalline solids. Stoichiometric reactions of L1 and L2 with [Ru(η--cymene)Cl] in CHCl yielded [RuCl(η--cymene)(L1-κ-)] (1) and [RuCl(η--cymene)(L2-κ-)] (2), respectively.

The DNA adducts formed by the alkenylbenzene natural products, safrole (SF) and methyleugenol (MEG) are primarily attributed to their reported carcinogenic properties. Herein, we report a concise strategy to access -Ac-SF/MEG-dA phosphoramidites, which were selectively incorporated into DNA oligonucleotides by solid-phase DNA synthesis. The replication studies using human polymerases hpolκ and hpolη showed that both polymerases replicate these adducts error-free, which indicates that these polymerases do not contribute to the adduct-induced mutagenicity.

Isostructural Dy(III) and Er(III) complexes [L12Ln(H2O)5][I]3·L12·(CH2Cl2) (Ln = Dy (1), Er (3)) and [L22Ln(H2O)5][I]3·L22·(CH2Cl2)2 (Ln = Dy (2), Er (4)), with distorted pentagonal bipyramidal geometry (D5h) around the central metal were synthesized by utilizing two bulky phosphonamide ligands, adamantyl phosphonamide, (Ad)P(O)(NHiPr)2 (L1) and carbazolyl phosphoramide (Cz)P(O)(NHiPr)2 (L2). The resultant complexes were investigated for their magnetic properties in order to elucidate the impact of modification of the coordinating P-O bond environment either by increasing steric bulk and/or introduction of a third P-N bond at the central phosphorus atom. Magnetic studies revealed substantial energy barriers (Ueff) of 640 K and 560 K for Dy compounds 1 and 2, respectively, rendering them as some of the best-performing air-stable SIMs amongst the class of SIMs with D5h symmetry.

Herein, the photophysical, photochemical properties and photogenerated excited state dynamics of two new Ru(II) complexes, viz. [Ru(p-ttp)(bpy)(PTA)]2+ [1]2+, [Ru(p-ttp)(phen)(PTA)]2+ [2]2+ having a phosphorus-based ligand PTA [p-ttp = p-tolyl terpyridine; bpy = 2,2'-bipyridyl; phen = 1,10-phenthroline and PTA = 1,3,5-triaza-7-phosphaadamantane] are reported. Upon excitation with 470 nm LED, [1]2+ and [2]2+ neither undergo ligand release nor exhibit room temperature luminescence/1O2 generation.

Intratumor heterogeneity (ITH) presents challenges for precision oncology, but methods for its spatial quantification, scalable at population levels, do not exist. Based on previous work showing that admixture of PAM50 subtype can be measured from bulk tissue using transcriptomic data, we trained a deep neural network (DNN) to quantify subtype ITH in Luminal A (LumA) breast cancer from routinely-stained whole slide images. Herein, we present a strategy to access a novel class of pH-responsive, dual-state emissive (DSE), highly fluorescent pyrrole-based chromophores diformylation of dipyrroethenes (DPE) followed by condensation with various aniline derivatives. The DPE-based chromophores exhibit a large Stokes shift and maintain good fluorescence quantum yields. Remarkably, these chromophores demonstrate reversible colourimetric changes and a fluorometric 'on-off-on' switch in response to pH variations.
